Like to write. Came up with this idea while running on the treadmill haha. Just always really wondered what a sequel to the 1986 Movie could be and could never think of what to follow it up with...anyways what if it were a prequel... I really thought that was obvious and could even be done now as like a DTV. Anyways just spit-balling an idea here. Give me some feedback...maybe I'll try writing a script.

Transformers: Origins (Animated Movie 2)

The movie is a prequel to the US cartoon, taking place sometime around the events of “War Dawn” in season 2. Although it abandons most of the canon of that episode, it uses the skeleton of the cartoon and some of the Marvel/Marvel UK comics as reference.

Characters

Autobots: General term describing the ruling class of Cybertron. They are most peacekeepers who have come together to preserve law and order. Completely control the remaining energy reserves of the planet housed in the Grand Hall of Primus.

Sentinel Prime: Aristocratic leader of the Autobots and bearer of the Matrix of Leadership. He suffers from a slight case of arrogance and elitism. Ultimately he is killed by Megatron in a series of events which start the Great War.

Rodimus: One day known as ‘Hot Rod’ and ‘Rodimus Prime’, the Autobot known simply as Rodimus is an unfinished lifeless body which will house a cloned spark of Sentinel Prime. The body is not yet perfected but is expected to be the planet’s ultimate guardian, and someone who can carry the Matrix when Sentinel Prime is gone.

Orion Pax/ Optimus Prime: A bookkeeper at the Hall of Primus. He is lone survivor of when the Hall of Primus is destroyed, stripping the Autobots of the planet’s energon reserves. As the story progresses he emerges as one who is worthy to carry the Matrix of Leadership.

Alpha Trion: A scientist and right hand man of Sentinel Prime. He oversees the creation of Rodimus.

Prowl: Brash and headstrong young Autobot recruit. He constantly gives his superiors fits despite his adeptness and battle strategy and tactics. Goes through a drastic character change as he and his Autobot companions witness the destruction of his home, Praxus. The event steals his youthful energy and leads him to the conclusion that logic is the ultimate weapon.

Jazz: Slightly older than Prowl, he is his closest friend and mentor. The two are fiercely competitive. Jazz is a bit laid back, and has an easier time dealing with Prowl than other Autobots.

Ironhide: Drill sergeant of Prowl and Jazz. He is training Prowl during the attack on the Hall of Primus and has almost no patience for him. Ironhide is tough and battle tested. He quickly befriends Orion Pax, and comes to recognize him as a true leader.

Topspin and Twin Twist: Two of Sentinel Prime’s elite guardsmen

Roadbuster and Whirl: Warriors. Small Parts

Ratchet and Wheeljack: Alpha Trion’s assistants

Decepticons: A growing counter insurgent group who are targeted by Sentinel Prime as dangerous to the peace of Cybertron. Formerly military hardware of the Quintessons, they are assumed to be dangerous. They plot to dispatch the Autobots from power by destroying their fuel supply.

Megatron: The greatest of the Decepticon warriors. He is cruel and unmerciful. He holds particular disgust for Sentinel Prime, who imprisoned him and forced him to fight for sport. Fighting his way up from the Pits, he caught the attention of Starscream, who brought him into the ranks of the Decepticons. Megatron murders Sentinel Prime early in the film and eventually is fought to a standstill by Optimus Prime. Although the Decepticons are unable to take Iacon, Megatron’s victory against Sentinel Prime gives him the opportunity to become supreme leader of the Decepticons

Starscream: Decepticon second in command. Starscream leads the attack on Iacon, which is ultimately a failure due to the intervention of Orion Pax, Prowl, Ironhide and Jazz. This causes him to fall out of favor with the Decepticons, paving the path for Megatron’s ascension.

Straxus: Decepticon leader who is responsible for both the destruction of Praxus and the attack of Iacon. Assassinated by Prowl towards the end of the film.

Seeker Jets: Round out most of the Decepticon ranks

Shockwave: Former Autobot who turns traitor when he disables the security grid at the Hall of Primus

Basic plot

Sentinel Prime, seeking to preserve the Autobot Empire, clones his spark to ensure a suitable replacement in leadership. Unfortunately, before his successor is completed he meets his untimely end. Megatron, a Decepticon of unfathomable power, kills Sentinel Prime and destroys the Autobots largest supply of Energon in the Hall of Primus. The only survivors of the attack are a bookkeeper named Orion Pax and three Autobots: Prowl, Ironhide and Jazz. Now, these four warriors must race against time to save Iacon from inevitable destruction.

It would be an animated version of the Megatron origin comic and some of the War within storyline.. I would like to see it, but I don't think it would need to be Transformers 2.. more like what DC does with their animation movies and just have a seperate story... even call it War Dawn out of respect fro the original episode.

Basically you hit the nail on the head. It's basically a retelling on Megatron: Origins with 'The Smelting Pool' and 'War Dawn' mixed in. I honestly wouldn't mind calling it 'War Dawn', that's a good idea actually.

I have a couple of goals in mind. One, illustrate exactly why Optimus Prime is the best. It's always been my opinion that the Autobots were not 'good' or 'evil', but that Optimus Prime and Megatron's leadership really defined their attitudes as we knew them, otherwise they're basically fighting over the same thing. For me, at the start the Decepticons are clearly more ruthless, and Straxus has a little Hitler in him, but he is a much more political threat.

Two, I wanted to show that Prowl is a badass. Prowl to me has always been written as excessively one dimensional. His phrase is 'logic is the ultimate weapon' and he's usually uncharismatic and stoic, but because Michael Bell gave him such life I always assumed he had a darker side and that he was more dynamic than he let on. So as a secondary character I really wanted to show why he became so quiet and reserved. I also have him straight up "sniper bullet to head" assassinate Straxus at the end. I did this because honestly the Autobots shouldn't be written as above that kind of warfare. I also felt his act of cutting off the head of the snake was, in a word, logical. Logic to me is something that is often cold, crass and unemotional.

I'm still in the infancy of this story because it's hard to balance these characters. Starscream still needs something to do, although I may only touch on him.
