Action-Adventure Ana de Armas to lead John Wick spin-off 'Ballerina'

Enjoyed this even though it's the weakest entry in the franchise. Ana certainly does well with the action but doesn't really get much more to do.

The action is great and you definitely root for Eve. Grenade ball and the flame off are the standout sequences. And I was pleasantly surprised how much John Wick is actually in this.

A decent spin off that's sadly not doing too great at the BO. 7/10.

For me, the weakest one is. Parabellum, because it has the worst ending of all five films.

The action in 2 and 3 are great. But, 3 ends with everybody after John. Same ending as,2

Isn't it just the high table after him at the end of 3? It is a slight difference as the 4th movie showed. Ballerina also shows he wasn't being hunted after the 3rd movie.

Perhaps. But the way it felt to me was that the needle hadn’t moved very
much.

Not exactly. 3 ends with John deciding to go on the offense as opposed to simply running.
When I walked out of JW 2, I thought “John’s in real trouble”. When I left, Parabellum, “ boy, they really want to keep making these movies”.

I do think most left with intense interest in where the next one went, as the box office emphasized.

That said, I do think the story is also there. I think the idea between each film is strong. All are based around consequences. While the ending of the second film shows the consequence of breaking "the rules" of an artificial structure, the 4th film is about the consequences of honoring past relationships forged in blood ,sweat and tears. An extension of the finale of three.

Which is the norm for each John Wick. The start of the next film is based on what happened at the end of the last.

I have no issues with John Wick 4.
I quite liked it.

I felt the same when I first watched 3. But again upon my re-watch before JW4 and then after seeing JW4, 3 became a better movie for me.

Yeah, unfortunately don't see us getting another Ballerina movie at this point, which is a shame. Hopefully Eve can show up in JW5.

They are definitely waiting to see how the Cain spinoff does.

Ideally, the lesson will be not go with Len Wisemen and others like him in the future.

The thing is though most of the GA wouldn't have a clue who directed the movie. They just aren't coming out to see this movie for some reason.

To be fair, the title of this movie makes it seem like it should be a direct-to-Peacock release.

I really liked this and thought it was a good expansion of the JW universe. I think they could’ve done better if they figured out how to fit her into JW4 to build up some hype. Really don’t get why they didn’t give Halle the first spin off movie after 3. Wonder if this could’ve done better in an early December release date.

I enjoyed it, they filtered in some interesting backstory for Eve that also added a new set of villains that will hopefully be expanded on, as the whole depth of what this "hunting for sport" assassin's cult was only touched on. It was also interesting to see that Eve was deployed more as a bodyguard than an assassin, something we haven't seen from any of the other groups of the High Table.

The village they used for the finale was an incredible setting, so unique, providing a stunning visual backdrop. Ana aquited herself really well in the strong action sequences, which were really creative, like the use of grenades and the flamethrower duel, which was the outstanding set-piece of the movie. John Wick was used well, much more than a cameo, but he didn't take over Eve's story, and I figured he'd have empathy for her and end up helping her after their fight, in which we saw the levels.

I've got the feeling it was the Directior of the Roma Ruska who put the contract out on Eve as the assassin's cult would go after her themselves, hopefully this story thread is continued in some form within the Wick universe.

8/10

Yeah, I saw this last night and I really enjoyed it. Pacing was great and so was the action.
