Movie didn't capture the intimate character work or the subtle intelligence of the Dan Brown masterpiece. 5/10. Acceptable.

Because lines like,

"Have you ever experienced a miracle?"
"No."
*de-robes* "That's because you've never been with a yoga master."

is just so subtle :oldrazz: :cwink:

Haha, I'm glad that was cut out. Although, seeing Ayelet Zurer de-robe would have been quite a sight. :ninja:

Tsss no way... de-robe the Camerlengo and then we're talking :oldrazz: ... i feel like i should ask for forgiveness or something for saying that :hehe:

why did so many people want this to beat star trek?

i like A&D....but star trek was levels better.

It beat Trek but only by like 5 mil and it had a far smaller opening weekend than The Da Vinci Code in the states.

Almost everyone knew it would be huge internationally so it's numbers are no big shocker. A&D did nothing surprising at the boxoffice but it's international number is note worthy because it is huge...as most knew it would be.

Well i figured it would be big overseas, but over 100+ exceeded what i expected for sure :woot:

Personally, i dont really care if it beat Trek or not or where it ends up at the box office once the year is done. I enjoyed it and that's enough for me.

I found this and i thought it was cool - 'Angels & Demons' - Separating Fact From Fiction http://movies.yahoo.com/feature/smg-angels-demons-fact-fiction.html

I can actually say that I enjoyed this flick. It was cheesy and OOT with a sluggish first 10-15 minutes. But once it gets going it is very entertaining. I thought the acting was better and the suspense was top notch with some shrewd directorial efforts by Howard that took away the bulkiest and silliest aspects of the novel.

I disliked the DaVinci Code film (and wasn't crazy about the novel), but this is a sharp thriller with some fun little history that doesn't overshadow the suspense. I thought McGreggor and Skarsgaard were great and Landgon's sidekick (the actress's name escapes me right now) is far better than Tatou was last film.

The ending was much better as well. I read the end of the book after seeing the film and it was ridiculous. I immediately suspected McGreggor from the trailer because like McKellan, he is a) the best actor in the film, b) he most likable actor in the film and character and c) the trailer makes it obvious. But I was still thrown off when it looked like he was going to martyr himself as he was a great character and I was like, "Oh, I was wrong! What a nice guy."

But as soon as I saw the parachute, I knew he was the villain

Fun movie. Better than Da Vinci and unfairly bashed. 7/10.

Son, that statement just made the English Major in me die a little.

If i hadnt read the book, i dont know if i would have suspected him as the bad guy, i must say.

I do agree with u regarding the ending in the movie, i thought it was the better fit when compared to the one from the book. I think the original book ending would have been way too outrageous for the film.

thank god this beat star trek

I'm starting to question your tastes in movies in general. I know everyone can like whatever they like but with tastes, it's a different story.

BTW, it barely beat and Star Trek barley dropped, unlike...Wolverine.

i liked star trek ..but it is disgustingly overrated like Iron Man.

the most word i hate the most: overrated, which is completely subjective.

i use the word overrated too but only sparingly. it's too special of a word to use all the time, and it does get used..all the time online. ah well.

Iron Man is a fun movie, man. It's bright, optimistic, and there's some thought put into the script and direction. I don't know how it's overrated when The Dark Knight eclipsed it last Summer.

Bland, uninteresting and even a little boring....it looks pretty, but that's about it.

what i hold above anything... is originality. Thats what i save my 9' and 10' ratings for.

It was the best possible movie Ironman could've been. But to me it wasnt original in any way... and you cant have a good superhero movie without an equally interesting villain.

it was entertaining but not the messiah of that summer, lol. Ill get mauled for saying this but i enjoyed Wanted more that summer. It had some originality thrown in, even with the same old 'average guy gets thrown into a wild ride' scenario.

got back from seeing this a while ago and it was really...silly and annoying... the whole antimatter thing had me laughing and langdon's easy of running through the tight small tunnels annoyed me...

but it was still a good film if you ignored that and focused on what was happening rather than why. a solid 7 from me

I would give this movie a 7.5 or an 8..loved the religion versus science stuff.

A bit overlong.

Much better than The DaVinci Code
