Yeah it goes into that a bit. I look at Animorphs as a deconstruction of the teenage protagonist monomyth adventure fantasy story where you really get an insight of what would really happen in a scenario like that with war being not so pretty.
That’s a pretty accurate way of describing it. I always thought that the major issue with adapting these books is going to be that the basic premise sounds more action-oriented and child-friendly than the actual stories. The studio probably doesn’t want to get into the more serious/scary elements and turn it into a more straightforward, broadly appealing adventure story.
Seems like we're just getting an adaptation of the Nickelodeon TV show that starred Shawn Ashmore which essentially didn't do justice to those books and became the very thing the books aimed to deconstruct. I'm also gonna bet that Tobias won't last long as a perma-Hawk nothlit.
A bit surprising (like anyone else) she's just going on rumors? Though I imagine at some point the licensors and studious exert so much control, as a creator you might need to remove yourself from the equation, or caring to much what they do, just to stay sane.
No doubt the 90s parallels; teens with attitude, it's up to us to save everyone angst. And lest we forget the MMPR Pilot with the original Trinidad, and the super advanced 90s morphing CG effect.
