I didn't create the thread, nor did i bring it back. You're acting mightier than me because you don't agree with me. Your first words were "oh joy, this thread again". So why are you in here commenting? Just stay out of it.

Did i call her "an annoying actress?". I love Pfeiffer. BTW i love that pic and when she does that in Batman Returns. See, im not coming in here to put it all down, i see the good points too, i grew up with the friggin movie.

Am i reducing Michelle just to a sexualized suit?? Don't put words in my mouth. I said people like the wild performance AND the sexualized suit. Of course she made it sexy. She was a sexy woman.

She did well, i just said she overdid it in some scenes and i didnt like her character overall. Im aware of her acting skills, dont need to sell me on her career or oscar this, oscar that.

Yes, it's mainly nostalgia.

I liked Anne's characterization much more than Michelle's. But I'd say Michelle was just that much better than Anne overall. Real tough call because Anne had the whole jewel thief version and that's what I have been wanting to see for Catwoman on screen for a long time. I know I voted for Anne, but now I'm kinda wishing I voted for Michelle, lol.

You know... I don't think we've ever agreed on anything. Or probably ever will.

You prefer Hathaway. I prefer Pfeiffer.

So, excuse me while I go put on my rose-tinted glasses. :hrt:

Burton's Catwoman was my favourite portrayal of any Bat character in the earlier films. I had wondered if Nolan would be able to top the regard I had for that performance and in the end I don't think he did. I think he had a lot great ideas for the character and it probably had more depth than the Pfeiffer version, but I just couldn't connect to this characterization for whatever reason. Both gave solid efforts but I gave the nod to Pfeffier.

Damn you and your half-hearted TDKR support Jack. :o :oldrazz:

And yet I do!

S'all good buddy, just couldn't resist that one. :woot:

lol, funny how that works, eh?

Good times, Batlobster. Good times.

I'd like to take this opportunity and post both of these wonderful scenes together.

As for me...I'd still go with Pfeiffer's Catwoman. Her performance pops out more.

And with that, Kane wins the thread.

It's pretty crazy how there's even a similar camera move happening with each kiss. I love that they did a little tip of the hat to Returns. It was tastefully done...helps that the context of the two scenes is entirely different.

I do think that scene might be the best scene from Returns.

One of the best scenes in Rises too. The chemistry and dialogue snapping between them is great, as is the lighting and camerawork.

Absolutely. And my god i love your avatar. That shot of Batman is so incredible.

I'd have to say that neither was my "perfect" Catwoman. If you combine the two, that's about my perfect Catwoman honestly.

I prefer Pfeiffer to Hathaway.
NOT!:oldrazz:
Both characterisations suited their respective films. I don't dislike Pfeiffer, I just prefer Anne over anybody.

AnneFan and Pfeiffer-Pfan voting for their fav ladies.

Imagine that :oldrazz:

Costume: Pfeiffer

Looks: Pfeiffer

Acting: Pfeiffer

Character as based on the comic: Hathaway would have a slight advantage here, but as much as Pfeiffer's didn't really feel like the comic version in most respects, her's came across more genuine to me.I didn't like Anne's CW using guns.Pfeiffer's reluctance when Penguin killed the ice princess seemed more in line with the character.CW was generally a jewel thief like Anne and not bat **** crazy like Pfeiffer, but she was never a killer, and that was more important to me.

Overall:Pfeiffer.I just cared about her more in the story.TDKR really didn't do anything to sell me on why Bruce should've cared about CW.He admired her moxie at stealing his mom's pearls? She was responsible for betraying him to vicious abuse and months rotting in a middle eastern hell hole.I just didn't find anything endearing about the character. At least for Pfeiffer's part, she was playing it on a few different levels.

I agree with some of that. Hathaway's Selina was written closer to the comicbook original, but felt more distant from it.

I can't choose, be great. Obviously they're different interpretations set to fit different niches in different eras but both actresses were great. I grew up watching BR over & over so there's quite a lot of nostaglia surrounding Pfeiffer's version but at the same time I was blown away by Hathaway's performance & thought she fit the role very well. Even though I love her, I was skeptical at first but she surpassed all my expectations. And on top of that both women are highly beautiful, making it even hard to choose between who looks better filling out a skintight cat suit.

So yeah, I can't choose. :D

My vote goes to Anne. She's closer to what I consider the ideal live-action Catwoman and she was definitely the best part of the TDKR besides Bane.

Neither, **** 'em both. I'm still waiting on a more accurate depiction. I did not CARE about Anne and Michelle well was just over the top w/ lame dialogue and no real motive. Oh you want to kill your boss? It's simple your his secretary just poison his ****in coffee!

Really? You're still waiting on an accurate depiction and there's been two already. Sounds like somebody is nitpicking needlessly.

Well Burton couldn't give two craps about the source material.
Secretary? Check, wait where did he get that from?
Cat burgular? Check, no wait stole a whip and blew up a store
Mystical nine lives power? Check, hold on where did he drink that idea from?

It seems Burton's fetishistic Catwoman remains popular because most of us saw her when our balls started to drop.

Anne was more faithful to the material but the character and performance, meh. Like the scene where she said she thinks she does more to help than the rich do. Come again? How, where? I am not defending the rich but what does she do? Is she Robin Hood now? I will say Michelle was more Batman fixated than Anne, who just wanted to gtfo there.

I will give the Burton version this - the dance scene. It is still good. Though far from my favorite on-screen couple I do care about them (Bruce & Selina) in Returns. In TDKR not so much, it was kind of shoe horned in I felt.

Perhaps it would help if we get a Batman Catwoman film w/o another villain.

Anne Hathaway. Her first scene where she pilfers Bruce's safe, then sasses him and knocks him down and escapes felt more Selina Kyle to me than all of Pfeiffer's psycho chick performance.

Hi there. Pfeiffer owned the role too much to have doubts about it. Nothing against Anne's good work, but Pfeiffer was Catwoman in a way Hathaway gave a good try.
