Annihilation - from Ex Machina writer/director Alex Garland

Trailer's good.

Repeating myself but I finished the book years ago.

If anything it's a good thing to me if they made it a bit more commercial and mainstream than the book.

Just watched the latest trialer, it looks really good, they are selling it like an Alien movie but I'm guessing that's not what it will turn out being.

Its not like Alien but it does have a few Lovecraft type elements which Alien also has.

It does, but that trailer got me hooked.

Why does this film have the stink of studio interference all over it?

Here's why:

However, going by this article, I think it can be said that the studio interference you are sensing is with the marketing rather than the film itself. Garland's original vision for the film will supposedly remain untouched, but the movie is apparently very "out there" and wild. Therefore, it seems like they are trying to market the film to a "broad" audience, thus making it look more generic and less weird/crazy.

Fingers crossed.

They aired a bunch of TV spots during Waco last night and showed some of the creatures.

I said it before but I'll say it again. I give Garland and his crew major props for capturing the look of area x from the books. Everything I've seen looks just like how I pictured it in my head when I read the books.

Natalie hosted Saturday Night Live. Of course there was a commercial break for the movie during the beginning of the show.

When I first saw the trailer I thought this one looked kinda "meh" but then I found out it was this really weird Lovecraftian book and so went ahead and read it. Now I think I might be seeing it. Not sure it will translate from the book but I'd like to see this world and its inhabitants on the big screen.
