They're remaking Poltergeist. :csad: :cmad:

Read on for the update: In 1982 MGM released one of the scariest films of all time, Poltergeist, which was written and produced by Steven Spielberg and directed by Tobe Hooper. The film is of legend, being that it's not only extremely scary, but that it was rated PG (after an appeal from an R). Word has come down from various confirmed sources that the once titled "Poltergeist: Kayeri" is now being retooled as a remake of the original film. Poltergeist, which is about a family's home being haunted by a host of ghosts, is now looking to attach a director. More details inside:

I've just received official confirmation that the original idea for "Kayeri" will NOT be used for the remake, instead the new film will be a straight-up remake of the first film... pretty much frame-for-frame. Just think Hills Have Eyes...

Although Clint Morris did write the original "Poltergeist Kayeri", it's not believed he is part of the new project.

In addition, I can also confirm that Zelda Rubinstein, Craig T. Nelson and JoBeth Williams will not be part of the remake.

In the original, a young family are visited by ghosts in their home. At first the ghosts appear friendly, moving objects around the house to the amusement of everyone, then they turn nasty and start to terrorise the family before they "kidnap" the youngest daughter.

**** no they're not. Poltergeist is a masterpiece of the horror genre. It's one of the few films that genuinely frightened me. This really pisses me off. :cmad:

Just waiting for them to redo Exorcist.

I must admit... I now see what all you hardcore fans are always *****ing about. Why would they remake a movie that is already perfect in every way. Most of the past remakes didnt offend me too much, because I didnt particularly care for the original, but I LOVE Poltergeist and from that description, it sounds like the remake will be f***ed up. I finally get it...

****ING ****!!......Someone...anyone with any kind of power or brains....must lead the war against Re-makes.....I ****ING HATE THESE ****ERS!

It sure will hurt me....:csad:

Dammit, this sucks and hopefully they come to their senses if they have any.

I saw the movie on tv just a few weeks ago and thought: "I wonder when they're going to remake this". And here we are...

Yep...can barely even wait until the movie is two decades old anymore :down

This is great news.
When the Hulk doll rode by on Barbie's horse in the original it looked so fake.:down
And with CGI, now the evil clown can walk and dance around and stuff.

I say they still make it PG, just to see the reactions on little kid's faces when they go thinking it's a cool fantasy pic.

It is the circle of life.

Is the character played by Zelda Rubinstein going to be completely CGI this time?

Haha...isnt this franchise cursed?

Meh, I never thought the original was great in the first place. I bought the DVD for $5 and expected a terrifying film, due to the constant praise I've heard in it's name. After the viewing, I could see why it was rated PG, it wasn't in the least bit frightening. I don't know, maybe if I had seen it when I was 10-years old I would have been a little disturbed by it, but overall, I was disappointed.

Gawddddddddd!!!! Why? Why why why why????? I am going to blow my head off if I find out they are going remake Alien. I am serious. :cmad::down:down

I agree, not that big of a deal. The only part that scared me when I was a kid, of about 5 was the evil Clown.:wow:

I always thought the part with the guy's face falling off was creepy. The only reason the original was rated "PG" was because the "PG-13" rating didn't exist at the time.
