The movie is heading for a 600+ mil.

It improved from the first movie both Domestically and OS.

Its a win.

10 years ago it would sound like a joke that a guardians of the galaxy film and its sequel would gross 1.65 bil WW and ant-man and its sequel would gross 1.1 bil WW.

Nope. AM&TW opens in Italy (14th) & Portugal (15th) during midweek. Then it'll release in China on 24th and finally in Japan on 31st August.

Yup. Just as a reference point, AM did $121 million in those four markets combined (mostly China, 105). 600 WW is looking good.

This film just keeps chugging along. It's not doing leaps and bounds better than the first but there's been some noticeable growth that I'm sure will make Marvel think of another sequel to finish out the trilogy.

It either has just this weekend or will in the next couple of weekdays(there seems to be some difficulty locking the actual number down) pass the adjusted total of the first film DOM. The adjusted total WW is something like around IM1's unadjusted WW total so a $600M WW cume would beat AM1 in that area also.

China boost is definitely welcome. Everything looking good so far tho the exchange rate could take a bite out of the results. From ZeeSoh at BOT:

AM2 is doing very well presales wise. Its running ahead of most SH movies of the past 2 years or so except BP and SMH. It has also so far matched BP’s trajectory, which if it continues doing in the next 5 days it will end up in the high 30’s final presales. That would match SMH’s final presales which would be great for Ant Man.

Right now I am thinking an opening weekend somewhere in the 50’s usd although depending on ratings and WOM that could go up or down. However dollar has strengthened considerably in the past few months (almost 9% since IW release) which will impact its OW and final gross

Well China and Japan coming up are the last to drop, coming in the next 11 days. The first movie made $115M between the two. I think this will slightly improve upon that with a collective $125M between the two leaving on $10M left needed from the rest of the world to cross that $600M WW mark. I'm pegging the final total between $600-625M. Hell, all it needs right now is another $15M for this sub-franchise to collectively become yet another billion dollar member in the MCU as well.
