:yay:.

I’ve seen certain YouTube personalities do the same. We’re not talking Thor 3 or Black Panther numbers and sure it would be nice but there’s just no way the Ant-Man franchise isn’t another win for Disney. I mean it’s Ant-Man, who cares about Ant-Man ? Nobody expected these movies to do anything much, right? I mean, realistically. But there you have Wasp outperforming the first film domestic and abroad.

"Ant-Man and the Wasp projecting to open at less than $100M on its opening weekend? The movie is DOA. Marvel fatigue!!!"

"Ant-Man and the Wasp will fail to outgross Solo!!!"

"Ant-Man and the Wasp is struggling to cross the $400M mark, lmao!!!"

"Ant-Man and the Wasp will fail to outgross Ant-Man!!!"

They were so sure.

Officially above the 1st Ant-Man ($519,3 mil) movie at last.

It will end up somewhere between Iron Man ($585,2 mil) and Thor The Dark World ($644,6 mil).

A little bit over/below Iron Man 2 ($623,9 mil).

So my guess is antman 3 will happen but like Ragnarok well have to wait 3 or 4 years for it. Also dont see antman 3 being a July release again. I think it will get moved to November franchise.

I also doubt Peyton Reed returning. They could pull a Ragnarok with a new director and throw in an Avenger in a supporting role. Probably Falcon.

Outgrossed Thor The Dark World dom already, posting a healthy growth over the first installment. Some people seem to dorget that a sequel outgrossing its predecessor isn’t necessarily a given.

No, but every Marvel Studios sequel has outgrossed its predecessor with the exception of Avengers: Age of Ultron, which still grossed $1.4 billion anyway. All of the team-up movies only help the once lesser known characters like Ant-Man and Doctor Strange and almost guarantees their sequels will gross more than their debut films. It also happened to Cap and Thor with their Phase 2 films after the success of The Avengers. Ant-Man and the Wasp was certainly boosted by Scott's appearance in Civil War. Even so, Ant-Man is the least successful out of the individual franchises within the MCU but considering both his solo films combined grossed over a billion dollars, that's still not bad.

Ant-man is a billion dollar property. What a world.

Not only that, but it's made more actual profit for Marvel Studios than Justice League did for Warner Bros! Once you take out all the expenditures, in terms of actual dollars earned, Ant-Man and the Wasp not only outdid Justice League, but did so by a wide margin. That's remarkable to think that Ant-Man and the Wasp put more money into Marvel's bank account than Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, the Flash, and Aquaman could do for Warner Bros.

Went to a 4 o’clock showing yesterday and there were maybe 30-35 people there.

Even the first Ant-Man movie made as much profit as the first Batman/Superman movie.

Batman v Superman: $105M
Ant-Man: $103M

Where are you? If you're in America for the hard core fan it will probably be their last chance for a re-watch until the home video release

Where are we at with domestic ticket sales vs. AMATW vs. Ant-Man? I can only surmise that the sequel has passed it by this point?

@ChinaBoxOffice:

ANT-MAN & THE WASP earned est. ¥63M ($9.2M) on Monday. China's 4-day total is now ¥527M ($77.4M).

Per BOT that’s 52% higher than Homecoming’s first Monday, so it appears to be doing well.

Yeah, adjusted for ticket price inflation the sequel is about $7 million ahead right now.

I was talking domestic specifically and you also have Iron Man 2 that didn't manage to outgross Iron Man either.
In any case Ant-Man & The Wasp is posting an ever better growth that the Thor/Thor The Dark World combo with the co-lead character getting a clearly more limited exposition in a team up movie. I think it bodes really well for the future of this franchise.

Basically it's this year's SM:H...just on a smaller scale(no pun intended).

Only $62.6M to go to $4 billion. It WILL happen.

yup the antman movies have had long legs so i was never worried that it didnt have a 100mill opening weekend domestically

Looks like around $8 million Tuesday in China, which pushes it to $85 million. So it looks like it will be in the mid- to high 90s going into Friday.
