Then why end the first movie with this whole scene about him getting a contact to join the Avengers and getting like an offer to join the Avengers?

That was probably a studio mandated decision.

I assumed these Ant-Man and Wasp films are probably going to be largely self contained and smaller scale.

Hawkeye being a family man doesn't exist in 616.

that's great because we're talking about a movie cameo. I only mentioned the comics because, in them, Clint likes to travel.

because that's entirely not what happened (rewatched it last night). Sam put out the word that he was looking for Scott. and they found him; to help out during Civil War. there was nothing about him officially becoming an Avenger in it.

I'm expecting some news about this movie soon, especially since they're supposed to start filming in June.

Is their script ready to shoot? Hopefully without Edgar Wright, it won't take another 30 years to complete the script.

And get Evangeline Lily a better haircut. Although it's similar to Janet's, somehow it makes Lily look older and not coquettish enough like Wasp traditionally is.

I think they should've gotten a more perky actress, or allowed Evangeline to play her that way, since she can be like that, instead of more business like.

I'm sure the script is at least close to done. They start shooting in June

That's what Edgar Wright said when June 1976 was coming up and Michael Douglas had just finished with the Streets of San Francisco and was eagerly awaiting to start work on Ant-Man. :o

I think the chip on Hope's shoulder was removed in Ant-Man so she might be portrayed as a lot less of a stern character in this film.

she's the yin to Scott's yang. so it depends on how serious Scott is, in the movie.

That's the thing. If they make Scott Lang more of a goofball and the comedic one, they're probably going to make Wasp more of the straight woman to play off him.

With Hank and Jan, Hank was more of the straight man and Jan was the bubbly and perky one.

They're unlikely to make both of them comedic here, although it would've been nice if they did and allowed Wasp to be more fun-loving.

that's kind of the thing of it, though. they created Scott (in the books) to marry the two personalities. Scott was relatively carefree but, in his own way, brainy. so they can't really make him the straight man w/o changing who he is. Hope's a completely new character. hopefully they make her a lighter version of the character from the first movie. she no long has the baggage of thinking that her father has emotionally abandoned her. but I wouldn't expect her defacto personality to change. she's a competitive Type-A action junkie who has little patience for those who can't "keep up." we saw her feistiness during the training montage. she's not humorless. it's just a bit more...meanspirited.

Hope will still be the straight woman and the more no nonsense half of the duo. I think she will probably have a few more comedic moments and be slightly less stern than she was in the previous movie.

Micheal Douglas said he wanted to crack some more jokes/one liners in the sequel so he might get to be more humorous as well.

The amount of jokes/one liners that we got in the first was good enough.
If they keep the tone the same, with a healthy amount of humor, we should be fine.

What makes you think Edgar took forever to put together Ant-Man's script? He wrote loads of drafts of it with his friend Joe Cornish, he had a version of the movie years before the production. And he had drafts right up until he was about to go into production. Marvel simply didn't want to film his draft. Can't put that all on Edgar, he probably got disillusioned they simply didn't want to go with all his ideas and hired different writers to tool around with his script.

Should be cool. Wonder if she'll have her offensive stingers.
