Quantumania Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania

Or maybe I just enjoyed the movie cause it thought it was good. Equally possible
It is, but you also mentioned you’re not going to have people guilt you into not liking it and that people are conforming to RT scores. Which is just a very odd thing to say when you like something. Usually people just list the reasons they like something as opposed to starting off with the “you’re all wrong and I’m not sorry for liking it” approach.

Right and then there are people saying garbage like admit it is about media consumption and turning off brain cells. Which is exactly my point. People like yall are just going to bully people who actually liked it and I aint falling in line with that think tank

Some of us just liked the dang movie cause we thought it was good. Gasp and shock!

I thought it was okay. Majors was good, but the actress who plays Cassie was unbearable. Also, the post credit scenes were some of the best we’ve gotten in years.

Then there are the people who have quasi-merged their identity with the MCU brand and it's survival. At this point it does have a cult-like following although it would appear critics are no longer a part of that.

I'm fine with people turning their noodle off and just want to consume the product no matter what was spat out. More power to them - but at least admit it when they're doing it.

The MCU isn't going anywhere. The Marvel brand and the concept of a "Marvel movie" is as part of the pop culture as brands like Star Wars and James Bond. If anything I am hoping the rotten score for this movie (that had more ambitions than previous Ant-Man films) lights a fire under Marvel's asses to give us better films than what they've been producing lately.

I enjoyed this quite a bit. Not sorry :o
I mean, no offense, but part of you was already inclined to like the movie based on your previous posts on here (not to mention the avatar) so it's not really a surprising outcome. :oldrazz:

You're not wrong:o

I am really curious about the post-credits scenes though because that's the one thing everyone who's seen the movie so far have been buzzing about.

Maybe its because I've never been the biggest fan of this franchise and the fact that the last movie did nothing for me at all, but I actually enjoyed this quite a bit although its definitely not a perfect movie.

The plot was a little too convoluted at times and the CGI was kind of all over the place, but I still love Paul Rudd in the role and Johnathan Majors an absolute beast in this movie whenever he's onscreen.

It was also nice seeing Michael Douglas and Michelle Phiefer getting more to do in these movies as well, especially Pfeiffer who was completely wasted in the last movie which upset me the most.

One of the great Mysteries of Ant Man And The Wasp for me was ,why bring in Michelle Pfeiffer for such a small role? I now realize that they brought her in for THIS film.

So I get the feeling that you think Marvel Studios should make more movies with rotten score. I think it would not be good if they make them with such scores since it would turn people away and they would do badly at the box office. If Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars got a rotten score then you would say they be the best Avengers movies.

I think Marvel Studios should just keep making movies and do the best they can. I couldn't care less what the RT score ends up being, nor do I think the studio should strive for what they think will get them a 90% or higher. Just come up with stories and make movies based on those concepts and try to make those work as best as possible. Let the chips fall where they may. Like any film ever made

Got home about an hour ago and I had a lot of fun with it. It helped that I watched the first two films again earlier this week since I just really enjoy the Ant family. I loved the first little bit of the movie where we just see them all interacting as a mixed family.

Kang was a real threat and they did a good job of building him up. Always liked Paul Rudd in the role and he had some great moments.

Yeah there's some eye roll moments but I can overlook those things in an Ant-Man film that tries to balance comedy with this now serious tone. It was definitely missing some of those fun action sequences with things enlarging and shrinking like we've gotten before and it would have been nice to see Luis in some form or fashion but I found myself liking it more than I expected and I definitely see myself watching this one again sooner than later, which isn't something I can say about a lot of the recent output from the MCU

I'm not speaking specifically to you. Calling something good can become subjective due to one's own sensibilities - but there are certain elements about movies which are objectively good or not.

I will say if one were to look at your film review/scores in your sig - they might be inclined to think there's a tad bit of a bias there. That's not a personal knock as it's clear you love Marvel movies. Different strokes for different folks.

It won't.

Disney is not going to let them take chances that could potentially veer them off the $800 million to $1 billion recipe they're currently resting on. They know who most of their consumers are and they're going to keep shoveling sugar down their throats.

the only way they start taking chances is if these movies start making $400 mill territory tops.

Going into this movie i couldnt have been more indifferent. I didnt even really wanna watch it but i cant lie i had a pretty darn good time with it, guys. I dont quite know what about this movie is making everyone say its bad, its typical competent Marvel fun but what made the movie for me was JONATHAN FREAKING MAJORS.

Lawd, he brought such an intensity and gravitas to this role that has been sorely lacking in the mcu. Once he entered the movie the temperature in the room changed and i was fully engaged in the movie.
I cannot wait for him to return and cause havoc upon the multiverse.

I usually don’t diverge from critical consensus too much, so I expected to hate this movie based on the reviews, but, other than No Way Home, this is the first post-Phase 3 movie I felt like rewatching as I walked out of the theater. I’ve wanted Pfieffer to have more to do since she was cast, and Majors was great. I even liked M.O.D.O.K., humanoid visual effects aside. And the last end credits scene was just right.

I saw the movie yesterday, here in Italy.

The first part is somewhat weak. But then he recovers, starting with Kang's debut.

Evangeline Lilly has very little space in the film, while Michelle Pfeiffer has a very central role.

Kathryn Newton promoted.

However, it should be seen as the first chapter of a larger saga. Jonathan Majors is really good. Kang is really menacious and revengeful.

What is it thats so bad about this movie thats got everyone dunking on it? I’m really wracking my brain.

Yeah, I can't square it either. It is certainly not Marvel's best but there is an enjoyable film there with great performances that also pushes the MCU forward. Kinda similar to MoM in that regard.

I don't think it is terrible and enough to get dunked on. I hated Eternals and Thor L&T, but this movie was just ehh noting stood out besides Kang/Majors. I felt like the first hour of it didn't do anything important for the movie. It has a copy & paste feel to it in that it is good enough to get by but not memorable. Rudd is always likable too so I can't hate watching him but the overall movie just didn't fit.

Im wondering if the hate this is getting is a boiled up frustration alot of people have had with Marvel post endgame with Phase 4 not living up to the hype. Like for example dr strange while good was mixed reception then Ms Marvel while it started good was ok and didn't move the needle but then Thor was panned then she hulk was a massively divisive show and now Ant-man being another mixed reception excluding Majors as the standout. Safe to say Marvel while overall successful after 30 movies cant afford to keep having years like 2022
