Any TMNT II news?

Out of the two, Eastman was more of the gritty 'Sin City' type of guy I've always felt, where Peter Laird was basically more for the fantastic elements involving aliens and space and what not. Which is cool, but damn do I miss Eastman's perspectives.

Ahh yes. I couldn't agree 100% more. :)

^TMNT was a dissapointment they should go back to their beginnings in the comics when the turtles where cold blooded ninjas who killed without hesitation if attacked and fought human opponents in the mafia and the foot not later on when they fought stupid alien beings the TMNT became less gritty realism intercut with cutting egde bloody martial arts and much more sci-fi fantasy for my liking.

There is sci-fi introduced almost immedietly in the comics, with the mouser robots, Fugitoid, the TCRI aliens, Triceratons....the Turtles go into space and go all Flash Gordon within the first five issues.

The storyline in TMNT was very much like a typical Ninja Turtles comicbook storyline. Monsters, other dimensions, immortal gargoyle warriors...it could easily be from the Eastman & Laird issues.

I finally saw TMNT a couple of weeks though and found it to be enjoyable. I remember seeing the trailer where one of the turtles jumps up and falls into a garbage can and then the "your mom" line, and really thought it would be a terrible mess. But there really wasn't much stupid slapstick in here at all. I rather enjoyed it. If they make a sequel, I want Shredder back though.

First I'm glad to hear they're probably returning the Turtles to the present when the series kicks off next fall. Second bring back the turtles section of this boards. Now to the movie it wasn't prefect but it did a good job getting the movie series back in the right direction after TMNT II and TMNT III. I thought the story was more about them getting back as a family rather than the Max Winters and the 13 monsters angle, even Winters was talking about the importance of family. In a sequel I would like a longer movie and the action scenes last longer. Other than the Shredder who would you guys like to see in the movie.

Baxter Stockman is long overdue for a TMNT film appearance (mousers too, but that's a given with Stockman). So for me, it would most definately be him. You could even have him as April's employer at the beginning of the sequel to be perfectly honest. With the fact that she's not a reporter anymore ...

I would really like to see The Ratking. But I think we will end up with City at War type story.

The Foot kidnaps Baxter Stockman, and uses him to bring The Shredder back to life. Wanting vengeance, Shredder and The Foot finds the turtles' new hide out, and then Shredder kills Master Splinter and severely beats the turtles. He then take samples of each turtles’ blood and creates Titian (an Italian Renaissance artist, named like the other turtles), a turtle that has all the turtles’ skills. His bandana is black. His weapon of choice: Wolverine like claws. The Shredder causes a gigantic war in New York. Now The Foot controls all the gangs in NY and uses them to take over everything. The police force can’t stop them. Also the gangs hunt the turtles throughout the film, something like The Warriors. Very traumatize about Splinter's death and the chaos in NY, the turtles strive to take down The Shredder, Titian, and the dangerous gangs. Ralph only goal is to put Shredder to grave, so he and the rest of the turtles will have heated arguments throughout the film. The climax, turtles fight shredder—Turtles beat shredder. Turtles get their butt kick by Titian, and then the turtles convince Titian to become good. Titian fights Shredder—Titian beats Shredder. But then Shredder stabs Titian and escape. Turtles and Titian have a sad scene, and he gives them some of his blood. He tells them that his blood is special, and with his blessing, they could use it to bring Splinter back to life. He then dies. They bring his blood to April, and then she uses it to revive Splinter. Master Splinter is back. Turtles are happy! The End! I would like something like this, but it's just my fantasy!

I think it's pretty damn good. I'd love to see that.

Damn dude that's a pretty good story, it might get water down because Warner Bros. don't want parent groups *****in and fussin about the level of violence in the movie. But still your turtle movie idea is still pretty amazing concept something different from the other four movies and it breaks away from the kiddie image.

Actually, that's not too shabby.

Cheers!

Wow! Thank you guys! I really didn't think people would like it. I really appreciate it!

It's worth bearing in mind that TMNT was really produced for a juvenile audience. It is for children, really. Should a sequel appear, it will be of the same tone. City at War just isnt going to happen.

Most franchises in the superhero realm are intended for children. Superman, Batman, Spider-Man, X-Men, Hulk ect ect. All of which were, and are still intended for children. Do I think TMNT can make the transition from PG to PG-13? Absolutely. A story arc such as "City at War" can be achieved (provided some omits and changes that are most likely to occur of course) in a PG-13 film. But on the other hand, this type of arc simply will not work (unless extremely watered down) in a PG rated environment. Ideally, we shouldnt go all dark and gritty simply because we can, but if the storyline that is being presented, if it be "City at War" or whatever, may cause for the franchise to perhaps go towards a PG-13 rating, then I believe that should definately be an option, rather than a prohibition. Especially when considering the PG-13 rated franchises these days that are popular with both kids and adults. Of course there is still alot of classic 'studio thinking' as far as TMNT franchise is concerned, that the series should remain a PG rated franchise. Which is curious, when one considers all the good it's done them.

If anything the new series (the 2k3 relauch not TMNT:FF) has taught us, you can still present the turtles in a way that older and younger fans can like. I agree you don't make a darker turtle movie just because you can, with the turtles is about mixing a good story with some nice action scenes. As for pg-13 and kids, if they can watch Narturo and not get freaked out about the blood and the over the top fight scenes I can say with confidence a CGI PG-13 TMNT movie isn't going to do damage to them.

TMNT wasn't popular enough for a PG-13 type of sequel.

Right now it looks like IMAGI is doing Gatchaman and Astroboy instead of TMNT at the moment.

I wonder what exactly is going on with those movies with the writers' strike. Astroboy from the still we've seen probably has it's script locked down so it could be OK at the moment.

Dini was just announced as being the new writer for Gatchaman in late September. So who nows how much of it he did or how much was completed before the strike.

Warner Bros. haven't green light a TMNT sequel yet.. And as for being popular yeah having two series last longer than two years shows they have no staying power. I think an PG-13 TMNT movie that has a great story with great action scenes would blow the doors off most movies.

Warner Bros themselves have no problem greenlighting a sequel for TMNT it was profitable enough, what is holding up a sequel is Imagi displeasure over how WB marketed and distributed the movie, and their insistence that if they do agree to do a second movie, WB will do a better job promoting it.

As for making a sequel to TMNT a PG-13 movie, it would make more sense financially given the recent success of Transformers and other PG-13 movies, also animated PG action films aimed at boys have traditionally performed poorly.

Decent enough story. However, I don't like the whole shredder getting one over titian....its one of those annoyingly typical moments in hollywood where the weaker bad guy always manages to somehow cause physical damage to the good guy. Argh!

I agree with Imagi on that point, when TMNT knocked off 300 as box office champ you didn't see an ad saying "TMNT is the number one movie in the country" until Thursday night, I don't care what the haters say if Sony or another major movie studio had the rights and their TMNT movie knocked off a movie that been the box office champ for more than two weeks and breaking all kinds of records you think Sony or that company wouldn't have a TMNT blitz? Bet your butt they will.

And for being PG-13, i went to see Spider-Man 3, Transformers and FF: Rise of the Sliver Sufer there were little kids there so keeping the Turtles at PG doesn't make much sense.

the writers strike doesn't affect it. Anything that involves the production of animation is under the animation guild. So there cool. No worrys.

The problem here was that the two time boxoffice champ was 300, another WB movie, it was more important to Warner Bros that 300 remain on top for a third week in a row then have TMNT knock it out of the top spot, once 300 became a huge smash hit, TMNT basically became a sacrificial lamb.

WB probably never expected TMNT to open #1, especially if their best case scenario had TMNT opening in the high teens.

The only thing a PG rating does for a TMNT movie is eliminate the posibility of having some truly amazing fight scenes, which truly are needed to garner the ticket sells from casual movie goers. I can guarantee you that if the original movie was released today it would receive a PG-13 rating, and not PG.

Bad marketing? Really? With a movie that was bringing the series back to it's darker roots, WB decides to bring out a bright and cheerful DVD cover covered in Pizza slices...

I wonder why Imagi would be mad.

It's like Batman begin's DVD being bright and cheerful, maybe showing Batman dancing on the back of the case.
