Anybody have the most recent pics of Topher Grace?

"
Or he could just be paranoid. I know I am a bit. I still wouldn't say psychotic. He isn't seeing ****, which is losing touch with reality (such as Harry is). I know that seeing **** isn't the only means of psychosis, but to me he's just paranoid. Spiderman did screw up his life with the story. He has an unhealthy obsession (as do most people, just not with another person) and is in denial. Not psychotic.

That's just my interp though."

Your interpretation is utterly incorrect and faulty. Your confusing pschitzophrenia with being psychotic. he has a separationf from reaity, there is abo****ely no argument there. NOT HALLUCINATING does not mean he's not psychotic.

Leave the psyche diagnoses to those who know.

He could easily do ULTIMATE Eddie Brock. Believing he's going to play an aged, hardened news veteran is idiotic.

As I said, I could just be talking out of my ass.

No need to be so angry. Just doing idle chatter on a forum. Maybe if I cared enough to look it up, I would, but frankly I don't. If so be it, I could do the newb mistake of going through your post and critique it (but I won't because I hate when people do that - that and the only troubles I see are with my own preferences).

Anyway, why are people so testy on these boards? Its as if I'm attacking the core of their beliefs by stating my thoughts, which happened to be wrong. Simply state it as such and leave it be.

Just like the people who ambushed Symbiotica in the Sandman thread.

Sorry, I meant to merely be analytical with my response. I came off as a dick.

I never claimed to have proof or even know that he can play it. I have only refuted your guys points that he can't play it. What I was saying about reeves wasn't intended as evidence that he can play it, only evidence to refute your guy's points that he can't play it.

the only person that probably knows is Raimi, since I'm sure he would have him do some kind of test screen or audition first.

It happens. We all have our dick moments (see the Something Strange about the New SANDMAN Picture for mine).

I really need to brush up on my Psych notes (or actually go back to college) anyway.

Maybe not an aged news veteran, but he WILL be a news veteren.

Anyway I am through with this discussing Topher for Eddie stuff, I have made my point. Besides he is not even offically confirmed yet and I dont think he will be either because of the reasons I have stated.

People that are spewing all this garbage about how great a scrawny actor from a sit-com will be as the bad ass huge Venom are fanboys that dont listen to reason.
All I'm going to say is that there are multiple possiblities for what Raimi wants to do to the Venom storyline to lift him above the "hulking God-like villain" that he has been recently portrayed as. If you're going to be a purist, then we're going to have the Secret Wars as part of the storyline... trust me, this isn't going to happen.

I know that's a step too far, but I seriously cannot see Eddie Brock in the movies, unless we want a talentless wrestler fulfilling the part. Adjustments would have to be made - which is why I think Topher is being brought in... he's most likely going to be made into the antithesis of Parker and, like in Ultimate Spiderman, be scrawny (if not built as much as possible) and become a muscular mass once he transforms into Venom.

I mean, which is more impressive? The transformation from a scrawny white kid into a muscular and toned body or an average built guy putting on a bunch of muscle? I'd say the former for dramatic purposes. It'd show his determination and hatred of Parker to become stronger than him.

When ever somebody uses the word fanboy, you know they can't debate for $hit.

What is fanboy supposed to mean anyways? Aren't we all fans here? If so, then aren't the people calling other people fanboy's being hyprocrites?

A real fanboy wants his characters copied exactly as they are presented in the comics, even if the translation doesn't translate into film.

If anything is different, because not all aspects can translate well (like Wolverine's costume or the Hulk just mindlessly throwing buses or knocking down buildings), he'll *****, whine, and moan about how the character is being bastardized.

Thank you! I was trying to figure out how to say it properly and you captured it.

Your saying I cant debate for **** when I completly shot down your Keanu-Topher comparison? Whatever pal. Why dont you go make another poll about if Superman Returns will be better than Spider-Man or better than the Matrix that can get closed down again.

Yeah what I meant here is fanboys of Raimi that think he can do no wrong and refuse to see the flaws in his direction and the movies.

No problem, I asked my girlfriend, who studies psychology, about what psychotic means and described Eddie Brock to her and she said it sounded like a psychosis. I stand corrected and I blame it on her as always...:)

The problem with that is so far nothing we have seen in the movies have been from the Ultimate universe. Raimi is a fan of classic Spider-Man not the Ultimate universe. So far the movies has been based on classics so why would he change that for the third movie?

because he can. Actually the movies do have a lot of Ultimate in them. The whole cafteria scene, as well as some other stuff. It's like mostly the original, but with some Ultimate mixed in there.

Its' funny you guys all complain, that this is so drastically different from the comics, but then you guys say it's very accurate to the original comics, therefore it wont be like Ultimate.

But to answer your question. Maybe he likes Ultimate Venom more than classic Venom.

Wrong. Psychotic means that you lose contact with reality and you cant make a diffrence between what is going on in your mind and what is going on around you. Sound like Eddie allright, he is absouletly convinced that Peter Parker destroyed his career eventhough that is not what really happend and he wont face up to reality because he is no longer able to see what is real and what is wrong. He has lost contact with reality so he is psychotic.

Wrong!

Psychosis: "a disruptive mental state in which the individual struggles to distinguish the external world from internally-generated perceptions."

Common symptoms of psychosis:

*hallucinations
*delusions [seeing things that are not there]
*difficulty with thought organization

Most common diagnosis: schitzophrenia. And yes Virginia, schitzophrenia IS a psychosis.

Brock has not "lost contact with reality." He's not schitzophrenic. Believe me, if you ever see a schitzophrenic you will know right away! He does not see hallucinations every time he turns around - or as far as i remember, ever. What Brock does is indulge himself in a fantasy that allows him to justify his own actions to himself. We have tons of corporate CEOs and politicians doing the exact same thing right this minute.

Anger does not equal mental illness. Desires for revenge are not hallmarks of mental illness in and of themselves. Have you never felt a desire for revenge? Ever? That must make you a psychotic, right?

What Brock is, is a neurotic.

That said, I feel dirty even mentioning the name "Brock" in a thread devoted to Gopher. I still do not think he's going to be him, either.

Trying to make this guy Brock is like these airports that have vans for passengers around town with "AIRPORT LIMOUSINE" stenciled on the side. Calling a van a limousine does not turn it into a limo.

Calling Gopher Brock wouldn't make him Brock, either.

Fresh off the Psych clinical rotation with a textbook by my side:

This perfectly describes a few people in this forum.

I'm noticing that he no longer has the blonde hair anymore and his body still pretty much looks the same in the most recent one taken on 10-18-2005.

Not that you can really tell since he doesn't have his shirt off.
