Anyone an Absolute collector?

It's another odd choice. The art is awesome, though.

Got
-The New Frontier
-Long Halloween
-Hush (got it cheap)

Although I like these alot I would rather see more and better comic size hardcovers of old stories. Like:

-Grant and Breyfogle run
-Knightfall (complete and recolored)
-A Robin collection with "A Death In The family" , "A lonely place of dying" and how Tim became Robin, the liitle run with the Obeah man.

The best Absolutes are

-Hush
-Crisis
-New Frontier

These 3 are PACKED with extras and are well worth the cash.If you don't own these already get out there and track them down.

I would add Watchmen to that list it is just as packed as those three.

While yes it is indeed packed and worth the money, its unfortunatly reprinted material and Gibbons could have contibuted much more "new" stuff we haven't seen yet as there is literally TONS of drawings/sketches etc etc done for this book. The amount of work Gibbons put into it is a lot more vast then most people realize or know about.

I would like to see a Death of Superman story in absolute edition. It was really the first huge storyline I remember as a kid. It would be nice to have that.

I also agree with what someone said earlier about an Alan Moore Swamp Thing absolute edition. I love those stories.

I have Absolute Hush and Absolute Long Halloween, both are pretty sweet

I just bought the Deluxe Edition volume one of the grant morrison run on JLA itsnot an absolute but its fun.

I apologize for not knowing this but I'm curious. What is the main thing about "The Absolute" books that make them special? Is it just the format & quality? The prices I have been hearing sound pretty crazy...$100.00???

Can someone please explain? Thanks :)

Not only the format (which the big pages showcase artwork BEAUTIFULLY, HUSH and NEW FRONTIER are 2 examples that truly shine in this format) but also, absolutes are supposed to be the "be all to end all" of that particuler story. Think of it as the "ultimate collectors edition dvd" of the book.

For example, you can go out and buy the New Frontier trades pretty cheap but if you want to see the work and love that went into the book and all the behind the scenes stuff, then the absolute edition is right up your ally.

Its not Absolute by name, but the Death of Superman Omnibus is pretty close.
