Anyone From England?

Cold's not so bad but I can't do with rain and I hate when it's dark on my way to and from work .

I like the dark, people get stupid and try to mug me. Gotta keep the reflexes sharp somehow

True.

I'd rather keep the weather pleasant and go Chavhunting with a bayonet whenever my reflexes are in need of sharpening.

I don't use weapons.I've had seven attempted muggings in my life, four at knife point. So far I have three of those four knives in my room right now :)...fastest hands in the west, now if i can just track down that last guy...

Where the hell do you live?

Say, the British football season began today didn't it?
Correct. Are you going to be following any of it this season?

First coventry, then leicester, now... sleepy cambridge these happened years ago though, used to go out looking for it, vigilante style :D

The skills? 4 years of jiu jitsu training. I learnt the traditional techniques, didn't like them so worked them into my own style. Basically I'd grab your arm with the knife in it's hand and smack it back so the balde either goes over or into your shoulder, it's a two handed maneuver, quite simple to do really

7 muggings sounds like a lot though. :(

What happens normally? You disable them and then they run off?

No I take the knife off them and tell them to **** off. If they still won't further action can be taken. They don't tend to stick around after I apply the first wrist lock.

I'm going to have to learn some of those tricks.

They are sweet, This one time my sensei showed us how to go from being held by two guys to applying a lock that will keep both on the ground. It basically involves tying their arms together (not literally of course that would be stupid)

How long have you trained in jujitsu?

So, how do you Brits feel about American minorities? Do you get many of them as visitors?

Yeah we get a lot of US tourists in London. I got a few Yank friends from university days.

How do we present ourselves?

My personal experience from tourists is that you guys are loud but generally funny and very interested in the country.

Those I know well are a great laugh.

From what I see from American tourists they are very forward....and generally interested in what they see.

I mean....London is one big historical city.

Where about in South Yorkshire? I'm in Sheffield, and have been for the past couple of years. Ever since I started university anyway.

Originate from Merseyside. About ten miles out from Liverpool city centre. Hate it there. Much prefer Sheffield.

The English football season. We don't have a British season. The Scottish have their own, and I've no idea about Wales and Northern Ireland. I presume they have their own too, but no one cares.

Liverpool played Sheffield yesterday, and drew. I was torn as to whom I should support. Sheffield is my new home, and Liverpool my old.

Meh, I'm not a massive fan of Leadmill. Been there a few times over the past few years, and it's never really grown on me. Never been on a band night though, which are generally the favourite.

haha, the leadmill sucks donkey balls, it's fully of old fogies.
haha

eletrix and avalanche are sheffield boys, so am i.

I always wonder if i'm going to see avalanche in the computer room in Mappin, but wonders never cease...

Lmao, no way!

I was in there a few weeks back actually, trying to get as many training contract applications done and sent off online before the July 31st deadline. That's the one and only time I've been in the Mappin building though. I live just up the road from the law department (school road), and since it's my degree department, I usually just use the computer room there.

Either way, I have the net at home now, so no need to go elsewhere.

You a student at Sheffield University then?

I've been here for five years (starting my 6th at the beginning of september). I'm doing Phd In the Materials building just behind mappin, currently there actually.

you always bloody mention you are from sheffied and this is the first time in nearly a year and a half you've actually aknowledged my existence. you and elxtrix are notorious for that :)

how come you are here for the summer?

I'm a Scot. Nobody will have heard of the place I live :( It's called Tranent
