People have a right to be wary,so far Marvel has only taken the Spider-Man films seriously. All others have been decent,or dissapointments.

Hey, a summer/popcorn movie can be done really well - it just hasn't in ages. All of the Indiana Jones movies were summer/popcorn movies and were great. If Favreau provides the right mix, then the results can be amazing. A superhero film does not have to be dark and brooding all the time, or a cheesefest, there is a perfect balance - sadly nobody has done that yet.
I agree but Spidey even lost his luster in the 3rd movie.People have a right to be wary,so far Marvel has only taken the Spider-Man films seriously. All others have been decent,or dissapointments.
The Indiana Jones movies were in fact very cheesy, but they were the cheese trendsetters and they were cheesy in a good way that imitators simply can't replicate.
Yes, these movies should have humor in them, but they shouldn't be stupid like the FF movies. Which turned them into dumb family/kiddy comedies.
Look at Incredibles which is a comic book super hero movie that still mixes in elements of seriousness, death, and suspense throughout the story as well as entertaining comedy.
It can work, it's just all about execution and presentation and how well the material sells it.
Look at Ghost Rider. The comedy came off terribly. And the drama and angst was C-level. And it seems whenever there was a chance to have a serious scene, they turned it into dumb comedy. Not to mention the villains were laughably bad and not believable at all.
Fullmetal Alchemist there's a series and a movie that could be funny one second and then deadly serious, scary, and emotional the next.

Marvel wants to make sure people don't mistake Tony Starks for Bruce Wayne.
I think, Marvel is trying to make sure that Tony Stark out shines Bruce Wayne to be honest. If Bruce Wayne tells one joke, Tony Starks has to tells 5 jokes. Bruce Wayne a multi-millionaire, Tony Starks a multi-billionaire. Bruce Wayne manufactures Military weapons, Tony Starks manufactures Nuclear weapons. Bruce Wayne is a playboy, Tony Starks is a pornstar. Bruce Wayne drives a Pagani Zonda Roadster F C12S 7.3, Clubsport (valued @ $667,321), Tony Starks drives a Bugatti Veyron 16.4 (valued @ $1,192,057). Bruce Wayne drinks Grey Goose, Tony Starks drinks Jack Daniels then has a heart attack.
Bruce Wayne owns Tony Starks.

Just try and stop me.
I think I will give Superman a break and patrol these boards....
Wait, what did Juice do?
You know what you're going to get when Robert Downey Jr. is involved. And I'm not against that. But lately, everything I've seen from IRON MAN almost makes it look like a cheesefest. They're really playing up the humor angle a lot more than they did before in earlier showings of the trailer, etc. Anyone else getting that vibe a little?

Iron man looks good but so did Daredevil, so did SR, so did Hulk, so did Elektra and Catwoman (well I did say LOOK GOOD lol, yeah that was corny but I don't care).
The only comic-based movie I'm seeing this summer is TDK. If I get my hopes up for this movie I will be disappointed.
Plus I need someone to school me on the director, what GOOD movie(s) did he direct.
LOL!! I just looked this guy up on IMDB...he Directed DAREDEVIL!!! LOL!! Iron man is going to be the dud of the summer!!! LOL!! This movie gonna blow! LOL!!
I'm leaving this board, the Iron Man movie is already is doomed.
Nevermind, I tooked a closer look at his credits he didn't direct Daredevil he acted in it. His credits as a director is not very impressive still. The only movie he directed that I've seen is Elf and that movie was average at best.
