Anything Smallville does Heroes does better!!!

hey lex, didn't mean to be confrontational with my first post in the thread... long day. hope you didn't take it badly.

Not at all I meant that remark in the best possible way ;)

I like both shows, although I think I just about prefer Heroes (even if one particular part of Season Two is disappointing me...what are they doing to Peter? :csad: ).

It's a lot easier for Heroes to show a more rounded view of the powers, and develop them at differing paces. This is because of the number of superhumans - there's Hiro with his time/teleportation powers, which take him about half of the first season to master; Peter, though, with his absorption abilities, needs more episodes and a tutor to understand his. They have different characters that need to be developed differently...whereas in Smallville, it's focusing on one character, and how his powers grow as he ages. It's set on one destination, and it's got a slower pace to get there.

I do not think that should slow the pace of the show down. In fact they have tried very hard to bring in more super people to speed it up so SV has no excuse there. They have a few young JLA members and now Kara.

They have a lot to play with and rather than try to strecth over 7 years. Why not make 4 or 5 good years. Why stretch it out that long if they knew it would go too slow.

I meant Clark's development in particular. The show itself is going at a steady pace, but the growth and emergence of Clark's power has to happen over a period of time for the show's dynamic to work.

Ahh yes for Clark he will be stretched over a long time period so we can see him grow. Alas apart from him gaining extra powers I see little change.

Like green arrow said. When are you going to get off you ass and do something with your gifts....not the exact line but really after 6 years of waiting it is silly.

That would be like Peter P from Heroes taking another 4 years to master his powers.

True, but that's part of the show - we're seeing Clark's sense of responsibility grow. Should he only fix a problem when he causes it, or when it effects those around him? He's spent all these years being pretty isolated in his heroics, but now he's starting to expand. It took a while, but that's because he's been growing up - his father died, his mother left, he's dealing with things on his own now, and some very big developments are happening for the character.

And on another (off-topic) note, are you enjoying the Peter storyline this season? He was my favourite character last season but he's now my least favourite...I just don't like anything about his arc except Elle. It's entertaining, but it doesn't fit with the character.

Yes you SV pints are cool

Your second point - yes indeed Peter was a top fav in season one...and you know what he is in my top 5 again this season.

I will explain. I was mad at first. How dare they remove his memory, undo all that was done in season 1 what a cheat. However since he has had his memory gone. He if free from the emtional bagage that was (at least I think) holding his powers back. He is a new man with more confidence again finding out about his powers. Only this time he is getting it right. I love the fact that he has DLs phase power and Nickys Strength etc.

I think his arc will become one that will keep us wanting more. I know I know it is hard to stomach at first but I promise Peters arc will get even better. Plus the fact that he seems to also have Nickys evil twin power will also keep things cool......EVIL PETER! ;)

I see your point, it's just one of the things I loved about Peter's character in Season One was his innate goodness (like when he went to save Claire even though he knew he was going to die). Seems like they've removed that along with his memory...I must say though, I am really excited by next week's episode. That final line..."I can't hide anymore". I hope he has a showdown with Elle! Did ya see the trailer for "The Line"?

Not yet...you see I live in the UK at present and have to download them....

I have only seen 1-3 right now and will see number 4 pretty soon. Even with this advantage. I am still a week or two behind the US.
