Animation Arcane (Netflix)

I was indeed not emotionally prepared, and tenfold. Jesus christ.
The soundtrack didn’t help either. :waa::waa:

Seriously, props to the soundtrack department and every single artist involved in making all of the songs for the show. They take what is already a great work of art and elevate it to even greater heights. The synth/string instrumental combo “Remember Me (Intro)” over the visually trippy and awe inspiring visuals had me absolutely floored and gobsmacked over how something like this could even actually exist, followed by the emotional gut punch that was “Remember Me” with the watercolor illustrations. These scenes and others will continue to live rent free in my head.

Just when I think studio Fortiche can’t top themselves with the art direction and stylization, they somehow find a way to do it in a way that I wouldn’t have even considered. I have to keep pinching and reminding myself that, “This is a TV show”, because this is practically movie level quality, but for nine 40~ minute episodes each preseason. One episode alone with this quality at a time would be impressive enough, but they made nine! Nine! That’s insane. Never mind television, most movies only wish they could reach this level of artistry on display.

Really looking forward to any future projects from them and how they continue to push and go beyond the boundaries of animation.

And then you have
poor, poor Isha. :csad:
How they're going to wrap everything up in only three episodes, I have no idea. Hope the finale is at least an hour long.

Judging by this little bit posted from an interview with the showrunner, you’re most likely going to get your wish:

Series finale was... something. Have a lot of mixed feelings about it and how it paints season 2 as a whole.

I'm halfway through the season...would you say it was satisfying?

A few things here or there that felt like they could’ve been elaborated and/or dwelled on a little bit more with another episode or so, which causes the pacing at times to feel a little rushed a character here or there to feel a little short changed, and the ending doesn’t completely resolve things and leaves a few threads hanging (presumably, those will be resolved in whatever the next series they have planned is going to be).

But, overall, I thought this season was still really good, if a little bit messier than the first, probably due to how ambitious and experimental they went this time around, which I still have to give props to everyone who worked on this for. Even when it isn’t perfect, it’s still aiming for and reaching for the stars and powering on and firing like a meticulously well tuned and sublimely engineered locomotive. I will always give flowers to an imperfect masterpiece over consistent, uninspired, corporate mandated, box checking averageness.

If season one was a 10/10, this would be somewhere around a very high 8/10 or baseline 9/10. Imperfect, but still very solid.

I really enjoyed this season overall, but man I really want more episodes. I still feel like there's a lot of stories left to tell in this universe and hopefully we get somekind of spinoff announcements soon.

This definitely felt messier and a bit more rushed than Season 1 which took its time with the worldbuilding and establishing the characters, but this is still a top tier show in terms of the animation.

The action sequences are just incredible to watch.

I liked a lot more things in season 2 than disliked, but speaking for myself personally, Act 3 really dropped the ball on the pacing to where a lot of things are seriously rushed and undercooked at the same time. There were also some character decisions I wasn't particularly fond of.

Finished the season. Great animation, but quality wise, IMO, it didn't get any near to the first season. I also think they should have stuck to the animation of season 1. There were no need to... upgrade it. I found the whole season quite messy and rused. mainly ACT 3.
It was not what i hoped for..

I'm good. I've already seen too many people gooning about it online as it is. :funny:

Finished it. I don't know that I completely understood everything that was going on in the third act and all that metaphysical stuff but I thought it was a solid and emotional ending. The final 10 mins struck an emotional cord with me and that to me is a sign the show did something right. But there was a lot going on that I didn't understand, one of y'all is gonna have to give me "For Dummy's" abridged version of what the plot was at the end.

Agree with most of the comments here. I really liked season 2, but it felt rushed. The whole storyline about the two cities going to war in season 1 takes a backseat, and gets taken over by the Viktor/Jace stuff. VI and Jinx don't even seem to matter that much to the story in the end. I think this needed another season to slow down.
Viktor suddenly being the bad guy needed more time

So Mel, obviously. Her whole plotline in season 2 was purely to set-up a future show focused on her. As for others, given the end of the show, I could see being a Jinx-centric series, maybe?

I'm 4 episodes in, but I mained Darius when I played LoL lol I'd like to see him show up in another show.
