CGI He-Man & The Masters of The Universe Animated Series in the works at Netflix

No offense to the Transformers: War for Cybertron cast, but this series just goes to show how having a cast of experienced union voice actors can make a lot of difference in elevating a show's quality.

And you know War for Cybertron, not to just trash and throw all the VAs under the bus, but it was clear they cheaped out for most of that show's voice cast. A lot of characters were mis-cast. And some of it was poorly done at the writing level too. But here you've got like top to bottom some of the best working VAs in animation and gaming, many of whom have been at this for decades.

You have Yuri Lowenthal as Adam/He-Man, Fred Tatasciore as Randor, Grey Griffin as Evil-Lyn, Roger Craig Smith as Trap Jaw, David Kaye (the legit Lord Megatron himself) as Cringer/Battlecat, Tom Kenny (SPONGEBOB) as Orko, and Benjamin Diskin as Skeletor. These are some of the best talents you'd want working on any animated show or game today.

Is Mer-Man in the show?

I'm on episode 6 not as of yet. However, Randor does name drop the Avions and Mer-Folk, so that suggests that Stratos and Mer-Man exist or may show up at some point.

Some fun Easter eggs for after you finish the season:

* King Randor's two bickering guardsmen are Tuvar and Baddrah, aka the real names of Two-Bad. They even had the proper purple and blue skin tones.
* Snake Mountain is located in the Fright Zone, aka this playset from the toyline.
* Before he becomes Beastman, his original name in this show is R'qazz. I forget where the name originated, but on his classics toy Bio, it lists Raqquill Rqazz as Beastman's real name. Just as Evil-Lyn starts as Evelyn and Trap Jaw starts as Kronis.
* While Ork-O in this show is a robot based on the original Orko the Great, the original was also a Trollan magician, who apparently was part of the court of King Grayskull.
* Randor mentions the Avionians and the Merfolk. Avion is the kingdom of Stratos people. The Merfolk are Mer-Man's. However, neither the Avonians or the Merfolk appear this season. Cringer also mentions the Merfolk later.
* In this show, Snake Mountain was once home to the Snake Men and the Empire of Hiss, which Cringer mentions, obviously seeding in the Snake Men. Some past versions have also had Snake Mountain as the original home of the Snake Men.
* The heroes being dumped into the Havoc energy slime in the finale was like the Slime Pit playset, which can brainwash heroes and turn them into Skeletor's mindless minions.

EDIT:

They actually released a full version of the theme song. You can listen to it here:

EXCLUSIVE: Listen to the Theme from ‘He-Man and the Masters of the Universe’

Ep8 at 21min, Adam says 'Eternia'... Quite funny they let that slip in. Or is it Eternos is just the city?

All right, finished the season. I really enjoyed this. The animation was definitely much better than I was thinking. And while definitely for the kids, it is pretty well written, with some serious stuff in there. And I don't know what it says about me that the humor seemed to be directly targeted at my brain, because I was definitely caught off guard at how much I enjoyed the humor.

I am curious what the episode order and season count will look like. 10 doesn't feel right for a lot of their childrens fair, though Dragon Prince has 9 episode seasons. Will be curious to see how it plays out. Definitely want more.

So, them of 2021 is that Randor is a dick. Though he did redeem himself a bit at the end there.

The Eldress is 100% Teela's mom. Nice for them to keep that bit of lore. I wonder if this is going to come up with Teela separated from the other Masters as they move Greyskull.

I'm glad the Dark Masters had transformation scenes as well, but jesus christ, R'Quazz's caught me off guard. Did not expect to see a chestburster scene in a kids cartoon.

I think Krass has been a real highlight, even beyond my amusement at Ram Ma'am. Her actions in the last half of the season kind of surprised me, and I hope she remains a main character, and not a recurring one. I am fully down for more Tiger Tribe stuff. I would love to see the origins of how they came to reject both magic and technology. Plus, it is fun to see even more green talking tigers.

Too much has been talking about the Snake Men for them to not make an appearance later in the show. Can't wait for that.

I wonder how many new Masters we are going to get next season. I think the set up they have, we are absolutely getting Two-bad next season. I do think it should be fun to see Skeletor ruling Eternos, with Randor, the bad king, exposed to the lesser privelage class by Teela. Probably going to visit Avian and the merpeople.

How does Ben Diskin sound as Keldor/Skeletor? Wasn’t really sure on that casting at first, even though I like him as a voice actor.

Update, after I've finished the series, he is a wonderful Skeletor. They give Skeletor a sense of humor that Disken is very much able to play up.

Eternos is the kingdom, Eternia is the full planet.

Agreed, that
Beastman transformation
was full on horrorshop stuff hahaha!

I enjoyed the heck out of that tbh. Low expectations and a quality show is a wonderful combination.

I just have to say I love this show. The only negatives I have can either be filed away as nit picks or stuff that clearly isn't a aimed at my age range. I've even been buying the toys. I hope this show really catches on. To be honest while watching I was thinking this could be a good starting point for a live action movie. I would age the characters up to late teens early 20s. Bring everything else up to a PG 13 level and I think they could have something interesting.

Honestly, it would probably be PG 13 if it were live action (jesus ****ing christ Beastman!!!!).

I generally sort of agree. I think they did a good job of making material aimed at a lower age bracket, but it's still broad enough that adults can watch and enjoy it as well.

My other thought was they did a good job of reinventing a lot of the characters and mythos but keeping it familiar enough so older fans would still enjoy it too.

Ouch Teela looks awful in that CGI series

I don't know why I forget about this. I forget about this enough that I went and rewatched the episode. Great scene and if I was a kid I would be amazed with Beastman's transformation.

I think Teela's powered up from looks great but I think her non powered look could use a couple tweeks. I hate the headphone things she wears and her outfit reminds me of what cyclist wear and kinda looks odd to me.

Toy leaks have hinted at some new characters we may see in the next batch of episodes. One very surprising. And not gonna lie, the potential new Dark Masters have me... concerned about their transformation.

New Netflix He-Man And The Masters of the Universe Figure Listings And Images Including Man-E-Faces, Tri-Klops And Mosquitor

Looking at Stratos and Man-E-Faces, two popular choices for the heroes. Tri-Klops and in a very, very surprising choice, Mosquitor for the villains. Not gonna lie, Mosquitor I feel is going to be disturbing

I have the yellow He-Man and Evil Lyn and I really like Evil Lyn. He-Man is kinda cool but I'm not sure we needed a repaint this soon. I've had more fun collecting these and the 8" figures than any other line I collect. I also hope they do a few of these versions of the characters in the Masterverse line. I know at Power Con they showed a Masterverse box with the CGI logo but didn't go into details.

Showrunner tossed out some potential teasers.

EDIT: They toys are up for pre-orders, though I have only seen images for one of the figures. So, we should be getting the designs for the other three soon. Hopefully with a trailer.

So we saw the Man-E-Faces toy already, but I guess this is confirmation we'll be getting Tri-Klops, Mosquitor, and Stratos in Season 2.

I hope we get Mer-Man as well.

After picking up Teela/Sorceress and Orko the only single pack figure I don't have is Man at Arms. I'm not sure if Battle Cat has been released or not or any other figures. I've been finding the figures at my local stores before YouTubers post reviews, even Pixel Dan. Maybe its where these are ment to be for kids. Usually where I live it feels like we get stuff after every body else. So when I find stuff first at first I question why I'm finding the stuff before a million reviews go up, then I get excited because I've gotten something before it's been talked about and every thing has pretty much been said.

Oh nice! I thought it was finished. I just finished the last ep so this is great news for me

Yeah, knew Snake Men would show up, and they look great. I find it interesting that they are kind of hiding Mosquitara's design. Hiding the Horde symbol? No Triclops, which is interesting. But the new vehicle redesign is great.

So, a nice and short 8 episode season, lending credence to the report I saw that it was a 26 episode order. Hope Netflix ordered more, because there are a lot of characters I want to see redesigned in this style.

Enjoyed the season. Felt it skewed a bit younger than the first season, but then again, the humor seemed to still be appealing to me. Some issues with pacing, namely a lot more focus was needed on the key character for the finale.
