does anyone think the kid would be able to tell the relationship between clark kent and superman? i was watching a clip from SR and they showed a clip of the kid giving clark a funny look.

Clark was in the daily planet and the kid was next to him. They showed Superman on TV and the kid was looking between the TV and Clark.

So the kid is smarter than Lois, didn't have any doubts in this :D

Ok, I am kidding.

I am fine with kid being his (you know who's he is).

Where did you see this footage? I saw the pics of that and I figured that's what he was doing. See, the kid isn't blinded by Clark's goofy antics-***-disguise, so he can see clearly past that and look at the two men seperately and compare.

It's a very nice idea. I think this film will be filled with these smart types of ideas that play and explore the mythos.

And here I thought the writing would be the weakest part of the story.

I think I was underestimating the kid storyline. Superman being a father. We'll see how its handled in the film.

From what Ive recently just seen, it seems theyre laying the groundworks for Superman and Lois to have a child in the comics (just as Bruce Wayne has one..maybe 2 right now).

I dont mind Superman Returns being the launching board for this idea. It is a very bold move forward...one that may change everything.

People cant really complain now that SR doesnt break into new territory, it seems to chart it.

The kid is the smartest kid on the face of the earth . If he can see passes the glasses etc.... And The Clark Kent disguise . To see Clark Kent & SUPERMAN as the same preson . :supes:

I saw the movie at my local theater. It was a sneak preview.

Well, Richard does make a joke about Superman and Clark.

I agree 100 %  :supes:

Well, I think the kis's storyline is one of the most intersting storylines in SR.

I am sure in sequel the kid will become even more intersting character.

Its More than smarts, it isnt even intelligence.

He shares some kind of unexplainable mental connection with Superman.

He could sense where Superman was at another point in the film apparently.

It must be part of his kryptonian/human ability.

ok but what do you think about the kid cracking da kal-el code??

See heres the logic I realized.

The Superman/Lois kid thing will happen eventually in the comics, pretty soon.

Might as well let it begin with Superman Returns; that way Returns will have another thing to be remembered for in Superman History.

Its doing what no other recent media interpretation has done...

Actually pushing the Superman story/mythos forward.

I think it deals with more of his innocence and lack of bias. In the comics Luthor refused to believe Clark and Superman were one in the same. The most powerful being in the known universe is a clumsy, doofy reporter for the daily planet... Luthor would have none of it.

A kid however is pure and is curious without bias.

so for those who say the child is superman's and has powers. wasnt clark a regular person when they did it? so how would the kids have powers? he did bleed after getting effed up by garbage guy.

Ya, on the day I was. I lost alot of respect for Singer's tactics.

But, forget Singer...

If he can deliever an amazing movie.....the movie is ALL THAT MATTERS.

And Brandon Routh of course; his performance seems to be one of the strongest highlights of the film.

Just because Jor-El rendered Clark's powers useless in that Fortress machine doesnt mean his actual Kryptonian DNA was changed into human DNA.

Clark was still Kryptonian, just no abilities....his genetic material to be passed onto the child would still be Kryptonian..

But it seems Jason may have some kind of telekentic ability instead beyond Kryptonian evolution (probably because of his human/Kryptonian DNA mix).

I disagree. If you read my post above, thats how I feel. However I think he's trying so hard to spot Superman, X-ray/Telescopic vision kicked in.

It could have been that also. I agree about the naivity of a child.

Children tend to look beyond common sense and logic and use their imaginations to see beyond the restrictions of adults.

I could believe a 4-5 year old definately believing Clark could be Supes.

Clark in fact, at times, goes out of his way not to act, talk, or be the same size as Superman. I have never understood why people can't buy the glasses routine. He's like the biggest geek. No one notices him and no one pays attention to him, so it's no wonder no one would think he's Superman.

Jason is not only the man's son, but he's got some super powers himself. If anyone should see it straight away it should be him...lol. It's like Liv Tyler looking at her father and knowing he was her father when she was a young child, even though no one had told her. Kids are unfettered by realities and restrictions adults learn later in life.

As for Lois not knowing, I've always gone with the idea that she doesn't want to know. I like how they had it in Brainiac Attacks and in STM. She thinks it, but then immediately dismisses it. She's smart enough to figure it out...obviously, so she must not want to see it for some reason. Though, I simply cannot buy that she had sex with the man and doesn't see it. That's asinine.
