The holocaust isn't cool to joke about. Period. There is no way to "skillfully" joke about a nightmarish event that resulted in the systematic deaths of 10 million Jews, Poles, homosexuals, gypsies and disabled people. Period. So yes, remotely true. Don't really care if you disagree with me about that. I feel I'm on the right side of that particular argument. Looks like the mods agreed.

That's a false equivalency. You can joke about something and know it was a terrible thing. I can crack a joke about a terrible event and not say it was a "funny time".

Well there's a difference between satire and directly laughing at an event. I find some offensive jokes funny if they somewhat clever or in jest. It just depends on the way it's presented. I would never joke to someone who might take offense to it though.

I'll just go ahead and be the ass that adds that I find "offensive" humor funnier because of all the people dropping their monocles over it.

As for the mods, whether or not they agree is moot. It's against the rules and they are there to enforce the rules, whether or not they agree with them. As a parallel, I'm sure there are members of law enforcement that feel marijuana should be legal, but they still have to enforce the laws against it (or they're not doing their jobs).

I think the former. Making a joke about the holocaust is stupid and tasteless, but denying it is deeply sinister. The latter would not end a friendship for me; the former would.
