All I remember about Ultimate Hero was when he'd spam the Lounge thread with gifs (before that became commonplace with the other Loungers).

I don't think I could ever have such a deeply-ingrained dislike of a writer, illustrator, director etc that I'd feel the need to trash them online. It sounds silly when you think about it.

Oh year, I remember that. He spammed the lounge with guys kissing each other because someone made a tounge-in-cheek post that he took as insult.

I forgot about that. He'd post a few dozen LGBT-related gifs and images and then when people were like "Alright, that's enough", he started throwing around accusations of homophobia.

Good job, Ultimate, you're really helping the cause there. :whatever:

It's like that Key & Peele sketch where two guys are working in an office and one guy is a flamboyant gay guy and the other is a regular joe. The regular joe tells the flamboyant guy to turn his music down because it's too loud and the flamboyant guy accuses him of being homophobic and starts throw accusations at him.

At the end, it's revealed that the regular joe is also gay as his boyfriend comes to pick him up for lunch lead to the flamboyant guy to say this out loud to himself:

"Oh, I get it now. I'm not being persecuted, I'm just being an a*****e."

I remember when UlitmateHero was defending the living crap out of The Internship (and that Selena Gomez movie 'Getaway'). He was adamant that about how the Internship is important to today's generation; a social commentary on today's economic crisis. And he was dead serious.

I kept on telling him that the movie would've been great..if it was released back in 2005, and whatever 'commentary' it had was nothing new. And guess I wasn't alone since the Onion made fun of the movie too.

:pal: I have never even heard of this movie, but that youtube clip was hilarious...lol

The movie was a mistake to begin with. An outdated concept in 2013.

But Octoberist, you'd be wrong because Ultimatehero works in the industry and you don't. :o

Actually I do. ;)

Nothing major though but what I do sounds a lot more impressive than what it actually is. I'm actually working right now....(but no one's here)

Of course it is...if they acted that way in real life they would spend all of it drinking their steak through a straw because their jaw would be constantly broken. The anonymity of the internet allows people to act like jerks without any repercussions....well, the length of this thread says there are some repercussions around here. You are not required by law to act like a jerk on the internet...it is a choice....and like in real life, people should not have to be constantly accosted by jerks just because they feel like acting like one.

QFT

It's not just the young and dumb (and male) who act that way, either. I've run and posted on forums whose primary membership consisted of women and seen the same kind of trolling behavior and worse. As an admin I used to have to clean up some of the most obscene and violent crap imaginable, from bestiality porn to racist insults to death threats, and 99% of that stuff was posted by middle-aged women. At first it shocked me that women could act that way, but when people hide behind Internet anonymity they feel emboldened to say and do almost anything no matter how vile. It's human nature, I suppose.

:highfive:

I'm in film school (a senior actually), but I actually dislike bringing it up because it makes me feel pretentious and makes it sound like I know things because I went to film school instead of my own personal observations.

Women take their soaps quite seriously and put comic nerds to shame...lol

I've been studying film as well, though not in anything as sophisticated as a film school, just two year at community college and I'm finishing up at stony brook U so I don't bring it up a lot lol

The Internship never would have been good. :) It starred Vince Vaughn, probably the most overrated actor of the 21st century. I was gonna rag on Owen Wilson too, but at least he occasionally stars in a movie I like, such as Midnight in Paris. I have no idea who finds Vaughn funny, but I wish they'd stop paying for his movies. He's worse than Sandler.

Vince started off strong though. But he just (and it's a cliche) sold out hard.

He was fantastic in Swingers and Made. In fact, he was more a dramatic actor back in the day. He was fresh in Old School. A guy who had vulnerability despite his fast-talking persona.

Then he never evolved. He never pulled a Beatles, a Beastie Boys, or a Bill Murray. He didn't even pull a Robin Williams. He's like the comedian who tells the same set of jokes for decades. You need to freshen up, re-invent yourself, and be true to yourself. Vince got too comfortable and his brand of humor WORKS for a 30 something year old good looking Vince, not a eyebagged, bloated 42 year old. That's the tricky part.

I think Will Ferrell has done a good job at staying relevant (for the most part) in front and behind the camera.

I agree about Vaughn. Since Wedding Crashers became a surprise hit, he's been doing the same schtick for the past 6 or 7 years. Vaughn seriously needs to do a drama and get an Oscar nomination/buzz. I don't just say that just because Jim Carrey and Bill Murray have done that. I say it because Vaughn can actually do it.

Regardless, there is NO WAY I would say he's worse than Sandler at this point in time. That ****s just ridiculous.

Tell me about it. I was once threatened with a horrible, lingering death for making fun of a character's dress. The woman who threatened me was in her 70s. Those people scared the **** out of me the first few times I stumbled into their chintz-filled lairs.
