Spider-Woman (the red headed one) had a daughter and was a single parent (divorced) with custody of the child. I think she was introduced as a character that way but I'm not positive.

Edit

SPIDER-WOMAN II/JULIA CARPENTER
definitly did have a daughter when she was introduced in the Avengers West Coast

Just a little more.

HISTORY: An athletic young single mother, Julia Carpenter was drawn into a covert double life by an old college friend, federal agent Valerie Cooper, who believed Julia would be an ideal test subject for a secret government super-agent program. Cooper promised her cash-strapped friend lucrative employment and manipulated Julia into undergoing a series of experimental treatments, including injections of a formula incorporating rare Amazon jungle plants and spider venoms. The formula gave Julia superhuman powers, and she became an operative of the Commission on Superhuman Activities (CSA) as Spider-Woman.

JACKPOT

was this story of her family set up ever elaborated on?

did her dynamic with her daughter change at all when she became a heroine?

Well, she had less time to spend with her daughter. It got her ex-husband killed (at which point she had to reveal herself to her daughter). They moved into the Avenger's West compound for protection (which seems to have put her daughter in more danger rather than less).

this is the second heroine that has moved into teh avengers mansion with a child.

what gives????

The Avengers are equal opportunity employers that do not allow their members to have secret identities within their confines. This means that they are allowed a family life, and the writers take full advantage of this fact.
