Are you a Star Trek fan? The official Star Trek thread where no fan has gone before.. - Part 1

I personally am a huge Star Trek fan. My favorite series is the Next Generation, followed by Voyager. I love the ideals and political tone to it. I really do, and I feel the show is really about hope.

As weird as this sounds but my being a huge star trek fan is really what led to me taking an interest and politics and world affairs. It probably also contributed to my being so liberal. I think the show really has a lot to offer people.

What's your take on Star Trek?

TNG Remastered anyone?:D

"Finally today, we've got a little something for you Trekkies. Consider it very Rumor Mill-worthy, as nothing has been officially announced (though that may change soon - more in a minute). But a lot of you have been asking us if Star Trek: The Next Generation - Remastered is ever going to happen. We've mentioned previously that tests on the feasibility of the project have been on-going at CBS for some time, and one of the key concerns has been cost. (Click here and scroll down a bit.) Well, today we've got an update for you...

As some of you may be aware, a few months ago Netflix signed a non-exclusive deal with CBS allowing them to digitally stream the entire Star Trek library to their customers, along with popular ancillary titles like MacGyver. Well, that arrangement definitely tripped our sensors. Not only is that financial incentive for TNG Remastered to move forward, but the fact that J.J. Abrams' big-screen Trek sequel is likely to start shooting in September (for theatrical release next year) provides a sufficient marketing/cross-promotional incentive too. So after several months of looking into this, our industry sources have finally begun hinting that TNG Remastered IS moving forward and that Netflix (and possibly Paramount's Epix cable channel, which has a strong relationship with the streaming service) may be the first place you'll finally see it - in HD - starting sometime in the fall. Meanwhile, SD TNG episodes will begin appearing on Netflix in July. Trek Movie posted this a month ago:

"Netflix confirmed they will be streaming every episode of every season for all five live-action Star Trek series: the original Star Trek, Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Star Trek: Voyager, and Star Trek: Enterprise. TOS, TNG, Voyager and Enterprise will all become available on July 1st. DS9 will launch on October 1st. TOS and Enterprise will be available in HD."

While Deep Space Nine and Voyager are unlikely to generate the kind of revenue to justify a Remastered redo effort (and Enterprise is already available in HD), we believe a high-definition film scan of The Next Generation is very likely in the cards for the entire series run, along with the requisite digitally-upgraded effects. Of course, in addition to syndication and streaming, the end result of all this might be a Next Generation: Remastered Blu-ray release down the line. So if all goes well, you could be spinning Picard and Data on disc in glorious HD by this time next year. In any case, we'll post additional updates on this as they come in. Our best guess: Watch for official news to break at Comic-Con in July."

Well, looks like my social life is going to go down the tube once Star Trek shows up on Netflix.

I really, really hope this sells well so maybe they'll consider doing DS9 some time down the line as well.

I want this and DS9 in remastered blu ray. I will buy day one.

I'll buy the whole frigging TNG on Blu-ray! :D

TNG is probably one of the few shows that, when I see a rerun, no matter how many times I've seen the episode (I've seen them all), I can sit down and watch it again and still be thoroughly engrossed by it.

It's up there, along with Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and Home Improvement for me, in that regard.

I don't know why, but I find this post hilarious.

Though I agree that TNG is infinitely rewatchable.

Most of it anyway...

Ya almost all of it, season 1 was the only one that had some.....stinkers in it. But other than that, DS9, TOS, and especially TNG is just awesome.

I really hope they release the seasons quickly if they do this. But this excites me so much, this is one of the shows I want badly on Blu-ray, that and DS9 I really hope they decide to do that one anyways.

Picard, Data, and Number One all in HD its making me excited. I wonder if they can/will make it wide screen like they have been able to do with Seinfeld even though some of the sides were cropped.

But this picture will express my feelings.

I would really love to see Trek return to television some time in the not so distant future. I don't know in what form however.

I am huge Trekkie, which is funny because I use to hate it. Then one summer I started watching the original series on reruns. Since then I've been throughly hooked by the franchise. My favorite series in order the original series then a tie for second with DS9 and TNG. I'm interested to know who is your favorite captain? Mines is Picard he is the man love that guy.

i still love ds9 the most. i really like the space station and the characters. mostly the cardassians. kinda felt bad for chief obrien he had so much stuff happen to him throughout the series.

I love TNG TOS and DS9 very very much, but TNG was just the one that started it all for me when I was young. Picard and Data are awesome.

Saw that eariler today.

Guess I gotta go get an ipad now. :p Especially since they finally figured out how to jailbreak the latest version of the OS on the iPad2.

So, i'm re-watching Voyager...and enjoying it a lot more than the first time I saw it. I'm really liking it a lot! It didn't seem to get good until Seven came on...who, while being the T&A of the show actually ended up being one of my all time favorite characters and being well written.

I LOVE STAR TREK!!! I haven't seen all of every series but still its an amazing franchise. I love that Netflix is adding every series to watch instantly.

When I finish catching up on Mission: Impossible episodes, I'll probably start rewatching some of my favorite Trek ones. Can't wait until DS9 is available in October.

Oh wait, that's right, I'm canceling streaming. Thanks a lot, Netflix :cmad:

DS9 was my favorite series followed closely by TNG then TOS and Voyager tying up with Enterprise tailing.

Sad about Enterprise too. It was just starting to find its groove and get good when they cancelled it. At least we have the rebooted movie franchise now.

Every time I see Jeri Ryan on ANYTHING now, I can only see her as Seven of Nine. It actually weirds me out, seeing her act...human, in her other roles.
