I'm not happy because I don't have any faith Sony will treat the new director and crew any better then they did Raimi and his people. And I have doubts on if they will pick a decent director to begin with. I wouldn't be surprised if they just picked a puppet director to do their bidding like Fox did when they got Ratner.

Sony doesn't "own" the character, they license the rights to make films about the character. I'm sure there are some things Sony isn't even allowed to do with the Spider-man character.

I mean, we were pretty much growing with Peter in every film, and i'm sure we would've seen him grow more and have great new challenges in the 4th one. We would have had the cast back and everything. The story possiblities for the 4th one were endless. Sony stopped that from happening. I'm sure that if Sam had been allowed to do what he wanted for the 4th, it could've and most likely would've been incredible.

Also Sony could very well work out the same arrangement Universal did with the Hulk movies where Sony distributes the film but Marvel Studios actually produces it.

Well that's just foolish. It's not BB's fault that everyone jumped on a bandwagon instead of prioritizing what's best for their movie. Is it also Spielberg's fault for creating the blockbuster genre, that we've had such crappy studio tentpole films over the pas thalf century? Is it Halloween's fault that it spawned a whole slew of teen slasher flicks? Is it X-Men and Spider-Man's fault that we've had an oversaturation of comic book films, most that aren't even good?

Be rational here. The bad will always outweigh the good, in quantity. That's the nature of things. Let's stop pointing fingers at the wrong people.

Sony kicked Raimi to the curb because they wanted more creative control. Do you actually think they'd give creative control to another big corporation, when they wouldn't even give it to the director?

Did you not read my post? Most of the negative bandwagoning stems from the success of quality products, in efforts to replicate that success. It's plain stupid to blame the originator for this as they have no connection to their imitators.

I think a reboot is a good idea, providing the feel of the comic is left intact, and they can do that... they can. Look at the James Bond films, look what happens when other directors get a hold of source material and give it there own shine, its nice I think, I say give someone else a chance at this.

I'm guessing S4 will be one of those "What films would you like to see that will never get made?" type of deals like Tim Burton's Batman Forever or Bryan Singer's X3.

We don't know the exact reasons behind the planned reboot and Raimi leaving. For all we know Raimi might have been a mutual decision or Raimi might have decided to walk away from due to frustration.

Also if Sony works out the same deal with Marvel that Universal did it would save Sony money as Marvel would pay the the production costs.

People will only think about how great Spider-man 4 would have been if the reboot completely fails. But the fallacy in that thinking is foolish, because it's obvious Spider-man 4 did not have a good enough story to tell. If they made it, you would talk about how they should have rebooted. See, everyone is so predictable. If you like it, it's the greatest thing ever, and the greatest director ever, and you're twiterpated. But if you don't like it then you hate it, you hate the director, you hate the studio. Fans are way to dramatic. Wait to see what's going to happen, then we will see if it's a mistake or not.

I can't wait to see who will play who, what the new filmmakers will do like style, etc.

Hopefully some character/villains are more like their comicbook counter parts and if Green Goblin 2 is every done again no "Green Ninja Goblin" look like in SM3.

I hope some viillains that weren't used in the old trilogy are in the reboot.

Better be PG-13.

I would Vote HELL yes, Happy with the Reboot. SM4 with Vulture made me want to go to sleep. Now, I am actually excited to see where this Franchise will go.

Not so sure about the quips. It's not ALL about the quips for me, just like it SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ALL about ONE Gril in Raimi-Land either.

I hope for more/better quips at key points, but that is something that you have to walk a fine line with, or you ruin the moment.

I just seriously want some more serious storylines without the cheese, with characters and plots that stay truer to the greatness that was ASM.
