No, that makes it hard for people to understand things that relate it too much to Season 1. Things change, characters change, themes change, etc.
Things are changing inexplicably, and quickly so. In most shows, especially Dramas, things like motivation and cause and effect make logical sense. If it does not, then the storyline is 'buggered.' That's bad storytelling and its hard for many people, especially new fans, to understand. It's actually a lot easier to understand for people who understand how these characters 'should' act, or what might cause them to act in new ways as opposed to the ridiculous causes given in the show.
Some people don't care. They just want action and excitement, or take each scene, episode, season or character on its own as opposed to looking at the big picture. Of course the storyline wouldn't confuse them, because all they care about is seeing their fave characters do cool stuff.
Listening to fans is ALWAYS a good idea.
Obeying fans is not. A writer, and especially a producer, who gets paid to do this, needs to know what fan suggests are workable and what are not. They need to have a sense for when its a good idea to give fans something they don't expect, didn't ask for, but will love anyway. They have to know when to surprise fans, not with shock endings and twists, but with brand new directions for characters and storylines... ones that make sense, are planned out and built up to. Listening to fans gives you feedback, and you get to know the types of things your fans will not accept, and the things they love. That doesn't mean that you give them what they love, on the contrary, playing with the things they love can hook them deeper into the show. You fans not accepting something doesn't mean you never do it, it means that you only use it as a shock/revulsion tactic, and use that hate to reel the fans deeper into the universe.
Listening to fans, ALL fans is always a good idea. Showmakers have to know what to do with that information, though. These guys don't seem to.
