I understand that the show is about Clarks journey to become Supes. But, it's been 9 seasons. And his journey is done. You know 95 percent of the fans want him as Supes. You are going into the 10th seaon....it's time to reward the fans who have kept your show going for longer than anyone associated with the show could have ever imagined. And please din't give me this "no flight, no tights" nonsense. That lost all legitamacy when you introduced Lois, the daily planet and half the JLA. Odds are we will never see Welling in a Supes movie. So give us the suit...give us flight....give us Superman for season 10.

totally really any superman restrictions from wb/dc should be dropped. And season ten should be pretty much superman the season. Heck we dont need to actually have him be called superman to the finale episode and all. But at least be totally full on superman.

I just tweeted this link to the writers and producers. Every little bit helps, right?

I guess i'm in the minority when I say I don't want to see Clark as Superman until the final episode.

To be honest I think the show has changed anyway, its not just about his progression into Superman these days but its own universe so I just dont really have a problem having it progress like it has.

I just wish when it finally does finish that DC announce it was one of the 52 Earths and we carry the story on in comic form.

The show started when Clark was supposedly 14/15.

In 99% of all other incarnations Superman (ie cape tights etc) doesn't show up till hes 25+.

So while Smallville's story may differ from what is arguable 'cannon', one thing they have not done is gone too far from a timing perspective. 10 seasons will be bang on.

^I've been yelling that for a while now, the show can continue to season 15 without him puting on the suit or learning to fly and still line up with the standard mythos

I think people are forgetting that in the Donner films, he didn't put on the suit or fly till he was in his 30's.

How the hell is this still on? Is SV pulling Lost-like numbers? :)

I'd love the Smallville mythos to continue in comic form after the show ends! :D

that would be nice. As for why the show is still on, that is coupled with many factors. First it is pulling decent enough ratings on its home network the CW, which being a smaller network yes does have smaller ratings then the others. But its still one of the network's top preformers. Then also it does killings in legal dls through itunes, and amazon. Then also for wb tv its always a high seller on dvd/bluray sets. So these are all reasons why the show is still on.

I'd buy it. I would also like to see SV to become one of the multiple earths. And I don't have a problem with SV's timeline of Clark's progression to becoming SM as much as I do with the way they've drug it out. Like Clark not flying because of a mental block is lame in my opinion. I would rather have seen us end up finding out he has been able to fly for a few years but doesn't because he is affraid of what will happen or what he'll become if he does embrace becoming Kryptonian.

Amen!

Posting for the first time in a long time to say I agree. They could even rebrand the show as METROPOLIS for it's final season (which I think will be Season 10).

That's fine and all...if they had cast a 14/15 year old back in 2001. Tom Welling is 33. Erica Durance is turning 32 in June. So, if this show lasted till season 15 without Clark as Superman it would LOOK ridiculous.

I think people are forgetting that in the Donner films, he didn't put on the suit or fly till he was in his 30's.

No, not really. Christopher Reeve was 25-years-old when cast in the role. And, I believe, that's how old the character was supposed to be as well. Margot Kidder was 29-years-old and was only cast in the role because Richard Donner's original choice, Stockard Channing, was considered too old. She was 33-years-old. So, if Donner cast two 20-somethings as his leads then that's because that's how old the characters were supposed to be.

The fact that Tom Welling and Erica Durance are older than Reeve and Kidder when they first played the role shows how ridiculous Smallville has gotten.

Indeed, plus WB seems to really LOVE Smallville and despite the CW's attempts to "kill" the show WB would not allow that.

That's true. However, he also didn't meet Lois until he was in his 30's, and he didn't work at the Daily Planet until his 30's, and he certainly wasn't teaming up with the Justice league until his 30's.

The problem so many people have is that all the elements of the Superman story are essentially in place now (regardless of what point in the timeline it should have happened). We have a character who is dating Lois, working at the Daily Planet, zooming around the city saving peoples lives- and occasionally the world, and even teaming up with the Justice League. Yet this character can't be called Superman, or look like Superman, and instead is called the blur, and dresses up like Neo from the Matrix. I'm not shocked that alot of people find that kinda lame. You can argue the "it's all part of Clark's journey to become Superman" point all you want but for all intents and purposes he's pretty much there now, and he has been for awhile.

As someone who really loved the season final my only note to the producers is keep going and go as crazy as you want with the Superman mythology, just keep me entertained till we finally get a big-screen Superman reboot, oh, and you guys are doing a great job so far.

you guys think the producers are gonna read this?

you're WAY OFF with your facts there. Go watch the movie, he's 18 when he leaves for the fortress, it's 12 years of training, making him 30 when first puts on the suit and flys for the first time

totally i really do hope if/when its confirmed to be the last season which i hope for either at thursday's upfronts or july at comic con. That it will be branded quote unquote superman the season and we get you know pretty much full blown superman. Now yea i would love for him to be called superman during the season but it could be left for finale episode to do.

clark was 18 when his father died, and then he went on a 12 year FOS training regiment. he was 30 when he came to metropolis.

the reason they picked those age is because they wanted to build a franchise around them. that's why luke and leia were young too. a realistic 3 movies takes anywhere from 8-10 years. but within the timeline of the movie itself, it rarely passes that much. to avoid really aging the characters, they pick young actors to keep consistency.

clark looks way older even if reeve was 25. i still can't believe it really.kidder looks older too.

I stand corrected.

Clark looks older because of the cloths and glasses. When he's Superman you can tell he's a young adult. He still has boy-ish charms. If you compare Superman I & II with Superman III & IV you can tell the difference.

Tom Welling is already past his boy-ish look. He's 33 and looks 33. That's why people are complaining that he isn't Superman yet. It isn't the 9 year wait. It's Welling's aging.

Just think of it this way. Chris Reeve was 25. Dean Cain was 27. Brandon Routh was 25. Tom Welling will be 34 or 35 when he finally puts on the tights. Welling will be joining the Kirk Alyn and George Reeves club.

i'm surprised you feel that way. while it is true that you can see the age progression between 1/2 and 3/4, i feel that Reeve as superman in 1 still looks much older than both welling or routh. Welling is actually holding his youth pretty well. but like you said, it's all in the clothing and lighting stuff. people just wanna see superman.

yea clothing, makeup can make u look older or younger and all that. As for welling sure he is what 32/33 yrs old presently and i still think he has some youthful spark/look in his clark kent. Plus he really is only about 9 yrs older then what the character currently is at 24yrs old.
