Comics Are you ready for the SECOND COMING of the Mutant Messiah?

Except it wasn't the Dark Knight he was quoting. It was The Watchmen adaption.

Really? Haha, well there was a similar line in TDK. No big deal. Watchmen kinda blew too

I did notice that nothing seemed to happen in Fraction's latest issue. It was just used to establish that all the stuff that happened before is still happening.

Yes, the sentinels are still attacking.
Yes, the rest of the Marvel Universe is still sitting outside the dome.
Yes, X-Force has been sent to a future where all of the mutants are dead, and here's them repeating their plan again.
Oh, and here's a setup for Rogue & Hope to do something in Legacy, and another setup for Charles & David to do something in New Mutants.

However, I did like Fantomex's shot at the Watchmen movie.
It did kinda feel like filler with not much going on. Personally Im ready for this to be over. While I do like Second Coming, it does feel like its dragging along and there have been some parts which I felt could have been cut down and condensed

is it wierd that i love that Hope hates Scott with every fiber of her being? :woot: i just think her reaction to his leadership (and borderline obsession with her) is so natural for someone who just met the guy, unlike the other X-Men who follow him because of the years theyve all been together (even with a number of teammates expressing reservation with the all-new militant Cyclops). throw in the fact that[BLACKOUT]he sent her father-figure off to die[/BLACKOUT] and everybody on the island is blaming her for the giant s#%! storm theyre in, i think shes become a very sympathetic character.

Hope: Oh, I HATE you for sending my FATHER to DIE!

Scott: Well, he's my son and you're just adopted, so you better prey that you're worth all this ****.

Hope rocks. A lot! Putting that gun to Scott's head and threatening to part his hair with a big piece of his jawbone was one of my favorite moments from this story

He had it coming. Scott's been sending people to die for this girl since she was born. After watching Nightcrawler sacrifice himself and her dad getting added to the number, she had enough. Scott's been putting everyone's lives on the line but his own for something he believes in more than anyone else. He has faith in Hope, but the rest of the X-Men had faith in his decisions. As far as Hope can see, their faith in him has been misplaced.

Basically, Hope did what Hank & Charles have been trying to do for a while. She put Scott in check.

Other than that, I was glad to see this girl ignore Scott's orders and enter the fight.

Cypher has had a major power upgrade since coming back from the dead. Apparently his ability to understand computer language has been reinterpreted into the ability to write computer language with his mind. He's a freaking technopath now.
I think I wanna see him and Madison interact. I think Madison can talk to machines as well, but that's never been made clear.

On another note... Bastion's gonna nuke the bay, isn't he?

I really hope Bastion doesn't have a nuke ready to use. It's gonna create one of those "Why didn't they use that in the first place?" moments.

Im so over Cypher. Loved him in the original NM days but he is too much like Sage after CC's revamp of her. Living computers are not that interesting

Ditto...but just wondering...is Cipher still around too?

yes I believe her most recent appearance was in Doomswar

I like to believe Cipher is always around, but choosing not to be seen.

I could really use some new ED Hardy briefs... I ruined my last pair after a late night taco bell run.

I'd be more inclined to side with Hope in her beef with Scott if Cable weren't completely aware of his chances of returning. He's a soldier. He's nearly been killed a number of times because of Hope. If anything, I'd say Hopes little outburst was more about misplaced guilt than anything else. Yes, Scott has made some missteps... But heavy is the head that wears the crown, ya know?

I think it was a combination of seeing Cable go to the future, watching Nightcrawler die for her, and knowing that everyone getting hurt outside was essentially doing it for her sake. Hope said if she was gonna be a messiah, she wouldn't be the kind who stood back and let other people fight for her.

She hasn't seen Cyclops do anything but bark orders. He's leading his people, but is he even fighting?

He fought on the covers...lol. He's pretty much been sitting in the war room the entire time delegating orders

He was fighting in the current issue.

Imagine that. A leader leads, and only when things are desperate and/or being handled as best they can be does he commit himself to the field. What a ****ing novel concept. Quick! Someone write a new treatise on leadership!

I didn't say I disagree with Cyclops' tactics. Generals always sit on the sidelines while their soldiers do the fighting.

Hope, however, grew up in an environment consisting mainly of herself and Nay-Nay. As soon as she was old enough to hold a knife, she started fighting for herself. Cable taught her that they both have to fight. She probably sees Scott as a coward for not entering the battle until the last second.

Exactly. This was brought up from Hope's perspective. I can see why she has no respect for Cyclops

I wasn't replying toward you, Manic. We see eye-to-eye, even when we disagree, with well-measured points supplied by functioning brain matter.

I was more replying to a general feeling of snarkiness that likes to parade itself around as intelligence. :awesome:
