Artemis Fowl film

Didn't we already get a terrible Men in Black movie last year?

Not surprised this is going straight to streaming.

Fans of the books seemed to dislike the changes and general audiences seem less than impressed by the trailer judging by social media reactions.

Seems like Disney chickened out of making fowl a psychopath on the road to redemption and choose instead to try and cash on Harry potter's coat tails (even though wb wasn't afraid to do the books darker material)

Sad that we won't see it on the big screen.
I mean, even a mediocre film can still be a special cinema experience.

This YA genre isn't successful for the wider audience. Even the better ones tend to fail at BO. Only few exceptions from this, like Hunger Games. But it had more mature themes anyway.

It also had a sweaty Jennifer Lawrence...

Artemis Fowl grows up to become Baby Driver. :o

Not gonna lie, before that last trailer was released, I though this already WAS a straight-to-Disney+ release. Like, I thought that decision had already been made and announced when it got pushed last year. So I was very surprised to learn with that last trailer that it was still expected in cinemas. Maybe I had a prophetic dream about it or something idk, lol.

I mean, Disney always have a couple of films each year that seem like tax writeoffs. I just wish that they were more original content than these endless stream of adaptations...

This is for the best. The movie had bomb written all over it. Now, Disney doesn't have to worry about overspending on a theatrical release and marketing campaign.

so when will this **** happen?

If other books by Eoin Colfer are to be adapted, the rights should not go to Disney.
Maybe they even can use the Fowl actor for leading role if he's good enough.
Cosmo Hill/The Supernaturalists could work because it's also a bit futuristic.

ok thank you, will watch it then

Will it only be on Disney+? Not Netflix?

No Disney will be on Netflix and no Netflix will be on Disney. That’s how they get you to sign up exclusively for their own streaming service otherwise it’d be pointless.
