Article Naming "Smallville" As Best Incarnation Of Superman Since 1978

Pff. Smallville is argueably the best live adaptation on the small screen, but when it comes to Supes adaptations in every form of the medium, nothing can touch Superman: The Animated Series. And that includes Donner's original film.

The show's ability to explore both sides of our hero's character is what gives Smallville its power - and what makes it the best Superman saga since 1978. On any sized screen.

I disagree with this statement 100 % . Their is no way Smallville is better than STAS . No freaking way .

The amimated series was good, only slightly less good than the Batman animated series. :)

The Animated series wasn't just good it GOLDEN MASTERPIECE. Their no way I can even call Smallville that good. Heck I can't even call it good . It's alright.

Smallville has Great action & and a pretty good cast [with the exseption of Ms. lang] . BUT That's it

But the storylines are awful :o

Kal-El stop jocking....seriously, it gets annoying and I know your just a kid but calling it a golden masterpiece in colours that blind a ***** is silly. Tone it down, we get it, just lay off the wiener

The animated series may have had good stories, but I think nothing beats watching real live actors interpret comic book characters. The emotions that they play, in voice and looks, are phenomenal.

The time and thought that goes into Special and visual effects. Turning a fictional town into a real life town.

I dont think its fair to compare.

Hey Ludacris Do me a favor and leave me alone. It's my opinion, you don't like that your problem . I have a right to my own opinion just like everyone else .

The animated series had much better grounded stories than smallville has ever had . Their were hardly any bad episodes seen on the animated series . and even if they were their was always something that made the episode worth watching . I can't say the same for smallville.

Which is why I'm done wasting my time watching a show that still has been redoing the same crap from since Season 1 . I'm not even going to bother to watch season 6 .

I'll stick with all things that have to do with Spider-man 3 .

The Dr. Fate episode, that was one I hated.:(

Avid is right though, it's two different mediums, with two sets of rules. They are more limited by budget to do some things you can do in animation. They are also limited in who and what they can put into Smallville that the animated series didn't have.

It's really not fair to compare them, it's like apples to oranges.:)

Sorry to hear you don't want to watch it though Kal.:(

What's the point anymore nothings going to change.

Give me Three Damn good reasons why I should even bother to watch smallville this season .

He'll watch it trust me, otherwise he wouldn't even be here right now. I've seen other people saying the same thing, but then they ALWAYS come back anyway lol, he'll be here on September 28th.

See there you go with the immaturity again my little dude.

Look there's nothing wrong with your opinon it's fine but the fact is these are Discussion forums and your statements come across naive and narrow minded or just a little extreme to even consider the opposite (ie Lois HAS to be with Clark she's #1 Ace reporter!!!!!!:supes: Clark on Smallville is a teenage brat Routh is the real Superman omg!:supes: The Animated series is a Golden Masterpiece:supes: )
That stuff I just posted is parpahrase quotes of stuff you say and its annoying as ****. Its obvious your a comic book fan only but I suspect you havent read anything of Superman past maybe 10 years. So you hate parts of Smallville and Lana but you should know that in Superman mythology she's a key character and instead of hating I would of thought you would at least hope and look for the writers to improve the situations she's in and it's not like they deter from the storyline anyway.
So Clark is a little emo sometimes but he's young growing big deal. End of the day for a mythology to last they gotta take risks and introduce it to a new generation. And so what if like Clark isnt with Lois yet and they potray Lana as his love? He's still in Smallville mostly and you know incarnations in the past have given just a much influence to the character than the comics (the radio show introducing Jimmy Olsen, Perry White, Luthour, Kryptonite etc etc Zod in the Reeve movies etc) So just let it live. Yeah I hate clana too but I would like to see Lana develop in Clark's life cause it happened in the comics just wait and see how it goes ( I too have critisiced the writers decison but at then end of the day the story's not done).
Lotta people on this board hate and love certain characters but there's a real sense of discussion and search for postive and negative critique points. You on the other hand come with stuff that has the elaboration points of a fan-made sign at a WWE event (not much...).
And constantly ****ting on Smallville while watching it is pointless. What you have is the schoolboy mentality of "Hey its broken and flawed but instead of holding on to it I'm gonna switch said and kick and point at it like I was never with it". Sad thing is as a comic fan you could bring some ideal and fresh perspective of how things could be from 70 year history but you just across newbie fanboyish and when you say stuff with silly Hyperbole passion. And saying its your opinon and not elaborating or showing any sense makes other wonder if you really believe in what you say at all or are just insecure and bitter like a child when people told off.
This aint even me being mad or anything I kinda feel sad for your little self cause you never bring anything new to the table and that's why you've been mocked on these boards and banned a couple of times:(

Lois & Clark had the best live action Clark, Lois, Perry and Lex. If you combined the Lois/Clark dynamic with the action of STAS you would have the perfect mix for a Superman movie. Shame Singer didn't realise this.

1) For a tv budget, the effects are great to watch. And every few episodes they come up with a neat new way to use his powers.

2) Michael Rosenbaum makes one heck of a Lex Luthor.

3) It allows us to watch a show based in the DC universe, even if it is an elseworld. And it's better than no new show/movie about Clark/Superman.

Theres more I can come up with, but you asked for three and these three are good reasons. (I think:O )

You really believe that don't you .

It's like I said in another thread. Neither Superman is as good nor as bad as 99.9% of the people say they are

True it's based on a matter of opinion . However Tom isn't SUPERMAN yet . He's still Farmboy Clark Kent of smallville.

I do think Spacey played the complete Lex Luthour in that he showed both the dark and (somewhat) light bad guy-isms that the character has exemplifed throughout his existence. Some cases he reminded me of a older rosenbaum ("Gods are selfish creatures who fly around in little capes...") and other times he was like Hackman without as much old school camp but still funny (The Island scene at the end)

Well to be fair that is what Superman was at one time. I mean he wasnt always just Gay Jesus from Krypton like how Singer potrayed (not that there was anything wrong with that:o ). End of the day there all the same character so it's like whatever. I dont understand why people argue about it so much.

Spacey's Lex was great, However In no way was he as good as Brown's Lex .

I think he definetly surpassed Brown. Like I said he played to the classic mannerism of Luthour to a t. And much like Bale with Batman, Spacey I think is one of those rare actors where even before you see his performance you know he's gonna be the best potrayl of that character yet. Hence why both were lock choices for there roles.

Their's a big difference between The Boy he is now on smallville . And THE MAN He's DESTINED to Become .

While they maybe be the same, their two different times in his life.

I prefer THE MAN OF STEEL / The Mild Mannered Reporter - Clark Kent/Kal-EL/SUPERMAN

more so than The Teen of steel on smallville .

The other reasons you might or might not agree with. I don't know:

4) The acting is wonderful, as is the chemistry. The last time I have enjoyed the chemistry between a Lois and Clark like this was the L&C show. The characters made for this show are wonderful and unique in their own ways. It all adds to a great cast and acting diversity.

5) Obviously not all of the episodes are great. But overall the average of great episodes to stinkers is good. Like you were saying with STAS, I usually find something I like about all the episodes, even the ones I don't like.

6) Many people don't like all the guest appearences, but I enjoy trying to figure out who they'll bring in next. Their guest episodes are usually some of the best written in the show.

7) All shows have their filler episodes. But like one of my other favorite shows Stargate: SG1, usually for fillers the episodes are still entertaining and I still honestly enjoy watching them.
:)
