Article Naming "Smallville" As Best Incarnation Of Superman Since 1978

Their's a big difference between The Boy he is now on smallville . And THE MAN He's DESTINED to Become .

While they maybe be the same, their two different times in his life.

I prefer THE MAN OF STEEL / The Mild Mannered Reporter - Clark Kent/Kal-EL/SUPERMAN

more so than The Teen of steel on smallville .

You act like there 2 seperate people. There not. It's the same person just at a different stage end of the day he's close to becoming Superman so like I said before it's a moot point and it's idiotic to create a comparison when there one in the same

I think he definetly surpassed Brown. Like I said he played to the classic mannerism of Luthour to a t. And much like Bale with Batman, Spacey I think is one of those rare actors where even before you see his performance you know he's gonna be the best potrayl of that character yet. Hence why both were lock choices for there roles.

I don't compleately agree, Spacey's Lex was great but .....Spacey's Lex was still on The Land kick . Where as Brown's Lex was more of The Business Man/Scientist.

I like Brown [The Business Man/Scientist. Lex Luthor] because he was more of a threat to SUPERMAN .

Sups couldn't touch him in the beginining, because Luthor had The Law on his side. So Luthor could do whatever he wanted and Superman couldn't touch him because, he not only own The Law & Metropolis . He was The Law so to speak . Just like in the comics until OYL .

Besides I dont see anyone talking about Brown in the Lex comparisons. Isnt always just Hackman, Spacey and Rosenbaum? Who the **** is he anyway?

In Smallville It's not the same.

In Every other incarnation of Superman their the same person .

Not smallville Their's no way you can tell me based on his character from season 1 up until now. that Clark Kent would one day become THE WORLD's GREATEST HERO !!!!!

NO Way .

They do so. The guy that get's the shaft is John Shea from Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman .

I get more joy out of watching a season one FOTW episode than I did watching the lame, boring, unemotional Superman Returns.

Is Smallville as good as Buffy, no it's not and I wish the show had been more patterned after BTVS, but Smallville is a damn good show in it's own right and it's the closest thing we have ever gotten to a modern Superman story.

It's The truth, this show is suppose to be about Clark journey towards becoming SUPERMAN .

It's not,and you know it .

Comapring a animated character to live version is stupid especially when 99% of the time people discussing who's the best in terms of potrayl mean the live action characters

It's the same dumb **** people do with kevin conroy when discussing Batman.

And its dumb when people are talking about actors and some grown ass man blurts in a voice artist as being the best (cause that what they are)

It' would be like if people discuss who's the most explosive scorer in Basketball: Lebron, MJ or Dr. J and someone mention somedude in a wheelchair just cause he happen to average 50 PPG in his special olympics career...

Right cause the fact that in syndication and internationally the show is called Smallville: The Young Adventures of Superman (IMDB it and speak to UK fans) mean it's obviously not about Superman. There gonna suprises us in the end when he becomes the Tick.

Hey don't bash Conroy, He's BATMAN . nuff said .

Again with the ****ing dumb logic. He's a voice artist. When discussing potrayl ww are talking about how a live action actor can potray that character. You might as well say Dini/Timm ARE the DC Universe. There good but they dont have no risk and can easily lift stories and mannerism off the comics compared to movies. Movies is more of a challenge

Perhaps that's bad word choice on my part . . .

Instead of become, I should have put adopt the name Superman, because Superman isnt much more than a screen name.

This is very good reasoning. :)

The animated series had much better grounded stories than smallville has ever had . Their were hardly any bad episodes seen on the animated series . and even if they were their was always something that made the episode worth watching . I can't say the same for smallville.

dude, it was a friggen cartoon aimed at children. You cant judge a live action show against a cartoon, since you can do anything and everything in cartoon under the same minimal budget. That being said a cartoon will never the emotional depth to it that a live action series does, and in that regard TAS cant touch Smallville. Yeah it was cool for seeing super villains and crazy comic book events, but it will never be as cool as a live action version of the character like Superman the movie or Smallville

Which is why I'm done wasting my time watching a show that still has been redoing the same crap from since Season 1 . I'm not even going to bother to watch season 6

why do you even come here anymore then? Is it just to be an ass and get a rise out of people everytime you get upset looking at the SR box office figures?

You're like the Kim Jong Il of the Smallville forums always clamoring that you're gonna leave, hoping that someone will give a crap...

I'll stick with all things that have to do with Spider-man 3 .

promise? :O

I take no pride in it, thatd be like celebrating winning the 50 yd dash at the Special Olympics....

That was eqivalent of Mike Tyson urinating on Mitch Green after he knocked him down on the floor..

If you just watch this video, it amazes me as to just how astounding the effects really are. It really is quite incredible for television.

http://www.cwtv.com/cw-smallville.html

I love the story that they tell, I'm sure I've said that once or twice already. ;)

They keep the essence of the characters in place but dig alot deeper into their storyline.

The characters dont always do the right thing or act the right way but that's what makes it real. I'm not happy with Clark and Lana being against each other at the moment, but you know what, I'll be rooting for them every step of the way. What they are going through will bring them much closer together. Clark will learn that he cant protect people by lying to them (i.e. secret identity). Lana will learn that she has to have faith in what she believes is right. That the truth is not always what it seems.

Lois shows us that she's hard and tough but she's also caring and stands up for what she believes in. She also has an uncanny knack for seeing things the way they really are.

They're all young adults and learning from their mistakes and relationships is what makes them the people that they eventually become.

Lovely post, avid. I couldn't agree more.

And I effing LOVE that video. It makes me squee like a 12 year old fangirl. :D

Awe man! Shizzle's thread was locked.

Gah! Well, since the Talon is in the middle of a poop discussion, I'll just post my two cents here. Seems like the place is already warmed up for it anyway. :D

I would imagine overall share ratings will be higher for most shows on all networks come this Fall. SV's ratings should increase as a result of many factors, not the least of which being the greater market coverage and reduced competition afforded by combining two networks into one. How many additional share points attributed to SR is TBD, though I'm sure there will be a few.

To those n00bs who find themselves utterly lost, I say welcome to the world of SV fans, where accusations of mischaracterization, age dichotomies, changes, additions, omissions and general overall mythos bastardization, come tied around rocks flung from 200 million dollar glass skyscrapers.

In the words of the great John McClane, welcome to the party, pal. Yippy kai yay! :D
