Ashton Kutcher replacing Charlie Sheen in Two and a Half Men

I take it you've never sat down and watched an episode from the past two seasons. Parks and Rec has far surpassed The Office lately.

And we all know how the well the X-Files did when they tried replacing the main guy.

These TV show producers never learn.

It's like The Office's awkward little sister that follows him everywhere and tries acting just like him. :o

It's like the Office's little sister that was awkward at first, but then in 1 year shot up and became hotter than the older sister, who became bloated and gross after being abandoned by one man and taking on another.

sooo... they should just end the show? and put everyone working on it out of a job? or try to milk it as long as they can and hope to gain a new audience?

Some TV shows have a bad habit of staying on the longer than they should like The Simpsons and I don't know how the Hell E.R. was able to go 15 years!

ER kept fluctuating new cast in and out, and kept telling compelling stories. It helps when you can gradually remove cast members, add more, and not disrupt the show.

And how do you gauge when a show's been on too long? Because you don't like it anymore? Plenty of people still like Simpsons and it shows in the ratings. Same with ER while it was on.

the Simpsons still churns out a good/funny episode every now and then. but that show was at its prime for the first 8-10 seasons. and the advantage it has over Two and a Half Men is that it's a cartoon and everyone has stayed the same age on that show for the past 20 years.

can you imagine Two and a Half Men going on that much longer? i don't think anyone wants to see a 50+ year old Alan and his 20 something kid still mooching off Charlie's replacement.

I'm curious to see what role Jake has in this new version of the show.

I always enjoyed the inappropriate relationship and interactions he had with Charlie. Even that was getting a little awkward the older the kid got.

He was hardly in the premiere, so I'm curious where they go with him.

Am I the only one who's hoping that Charlie faked his death to get away from Rose and will show up later in the season? Given the way they had him die its possible for the writers to do this if Sheen manages to make peace with the producer.

It would be epic if Walden and Alan went to Mexico and just stumbled into Charlie having a great time at some bar :)

^ That crossed my mind as well. There is enough wiggle room to bring Sheen back if they wanted.

I think they have too much invested in Kutcher at this point for it to happen, though.

You never know ...

For that to happen, the show would have to go on for at least another season after this one, and have a final, planned series finale, and Chuck S. and Chuck L. would have to kiss and make up. Having Charlie show up and fake his death might actually make sense for that character.

Yup, pretty much. :yay:

So... Who got smashed by a train and cremated then?

They said it was like a sack of meat exploded so maybe a meat sack? :)

This is a comedy show so the logic of the thing doesn't really have to add up, heck you could say that the other woman that Rose caught him with worked at a morgue :woot:

Season 7 is usually the best time to call it quits. (It worked perfectly for The West Wing and The Shield) After that, that's when the creative juices tend to get stale. You can see it in the writing of shows that overstay their welcome.

Hell, some shows were smart enough to end before even getting to 7 such as Nip / Tuck, Lost, Sex & The City, and The Sopranos.

and some shows lasted longer (Friends, I Love Lucy, ER, Law and Order, etc..), and did just fine (or some, arguably even got better (like smallville))

Or Rose was in on it?

Who knows? Just seems like there is some wiggle room if they wanted Sheen back at some point. Doubt it will happen, though.

The second episode was much better. I like how they're giving Berta more screen time by having her live in the house too. She's a severely underrated character.

It still hasn't hit that stride yet. Walden has yet to interact with Jake or Evelyn, so I say the show's fate is still in the air.

I agree, this second episode was a little better. I'm still not completely sold, but I'm hanging in there for now.

I'm ready to see where they go now that they've gotten beyond the introduction.

Much better episode. Im liking Ashton alot and i love that they made him a very flawed character

I think it's kinda funny that all that stuff happened and he was just sitting in his room the entire time oblivious.

Ashton Kutcher is no Charlie Sheen imo. AK comes of as wooden and one dimensional and strikes me as someone who might make for a good extra character (like Ryan Stiles character) but can't hold up the show on his own.

I´m giving them one more episode to prove me wrong, if they don't then I´ll stop watching.
