ASK MSJ (The Complete History)

Bumper, though I'm not sure if Mark is available to post here anymore. The Studio may want him to now keep his comments to the blog or something. Who knows?

(Well, I'm going to keep posting, just in case!)

Ola Mark,

If the studio had said that you could make this an R-rated movie, would you have? And, if so, what would you have added/altered?

To keep the juices flowing, here's some questions for you Mark...

1)For GR2, are you aiming for 2010, 2011, etc.? (I know you're taking a big break when GR opens in Feb.)

2)Do you think some of us SHH! members could get in on GR sequel casting? Because I know that I, among MANY others, would LOVE to meet you in person and be in the films.

3)Is Caretaker (Sam Eliott) the GR riding the horse in the trailer? Or is it someone else? Because I heard someone on here say it was Peter Fonda, which I highly, HIGHLY doubt. Also, does the horse GR have a big part, or is it just that one part in the trailer? Does he help Johnny fight Mephisto and Blackheart?

4)Have you made a final cut of the film that you like yet? Although I'm sure that the CGI and editing is not com pletely done yet, you probably have a cut you like. And if so, how long is this cut? I'm hoping for 2 hours, 15 minutes. <<<Perfect amount of time!

Anyways Mark, thanks for being awesome and chsttin' with us fans here!

Don't know if this is even a good idea I am practically asleep so probably but I will give it a try.

1. What do you think about all of these upcoming comic book films? The Dark Knight, Iron Man (Downey!), The Incredible Hulk, Spider-Man 3, and F42.

2. What do you have in mind for the future after Ghost Rider? Are you a director that likes to stay completely focused on one film at a time?

3. Is doing another comic book film outside of Ghost Rider and Daredevil possible?

I think it's a great idea if MSJ ( or for that matter any other director) gets these kind of questions. For starters they can answer a question properly without saying "Just wait and see :cwink: ".

Anyway here are my questions :

1 Are you more of a DC fan or a Marvel fan
2 With the release of several comic book movies lately , which movies have impressed you alot and which ones didn't ?
3 What movies have inspired you to become a movie director.
4 Ditto with film directors
5 What movies did leave a deep impression on you ?
6 Post ghost rider , is there another film genre that you would definately try to make a movie in. Such a drama , comedy , art-house or even a musical :oldrazz:
7 Tell us a movie you like but everyone hates
8 Tell us a movie you hate but everyone loves :woot:
9 What's the last movie ( aside from Ghost Rider of course) that you've watched
10 Have you had any big film scripts , but eventually couldn't/wouldn't film them. Care to tell us what they were :cwink:
10 Obligatory Matrix Question :D : What is you're opinion of the matrix trilogy. Like it , hate it ? And please do explain
11 Final question. If it were up to you , what would you change in the movie industry RIGHT NOW. It could be any topic in the movie making business , from producing a movie , to VFX , to marketing. Anything related to movie making , what would YOU change.

This is a good idea but, I'm not sure if another question thread was needed... especially considering MSJ hasn't had the time to answer the questions in the other thread yet.

We'll see what happens.

Yeah I know. I just kind of made this as a "if he ever gets around to it" deal.

Hey Mark,

Any idea where and when the premiere will be?

(And will Nic and Eva turn up on the Hellcycle?)

:woot:

I am also curious about this.

Mark only said that it was a comic book series for HBO...nothing specific....but I would REALLY like it to be a GR series. Live action! That'd be awesome! Of course itr'd be WAAAY too expensive to be a live action series, so cartoon will do it for me. MAYBE it's a new character that no one's heard of (maybe Mark's own creation) or it could be something for Marvel/DC. He hasn't done any DC things yet, so that could be interesting.

I PM'd him again the same night he replied to my first PM (which I sent to him in May!......but I know he's a busy man.....so I wait patiently) and I was telling him about my ideas for movies. I hope he replies soon....

BIGGUN...when did he PM you?

well I guess now we know he was talking about a straight comic for episode adaption of "Preacher".....

Hey Mark how many designs for the hellcycle did you go through and will they be available to be seen on the dvd?Any idea of when to expect the final poster for the movie? And a little OT Nathon Fillion would make a kick but jesse in preacher just watch first episode of firefly.

There's a good chance I'll be talking to Mark Steven Johnson soon, so if you'd like to submit your questions, then just write them below. Preferably questions that haven't been asked before.

Wow. That's awesome SHH! I'm sure we have lots to ask and most of us here can help you figure out which have been asked before and which haven't.

I'll think of something and get back to ya....

Here's mine:

"After using Affleck as Daredevil, and Cage as Ghost Rider, what do you find to be the benefits and if any, pitfalls to using a fan of the character to play said character?"

To MSJ:

How does it feel to be directing a movie of a comic you're a fan of? What keeps you going and not giving up? Are there any boundaries to directing this movie that you wanted to go to but couldn't for some reason?

Thanks.

(I'm really happy he's doing a Q&A by the way!:wow:)

This should be good.
I haven't any questions but I'm tagging this. :yay:

Could Cage really beat Godzilla in a hand to hand fight?

Is there a possibility of a Ghost Rider superbowl ad? And what inspired the Ghostriderwashere.com ad campaign? Is there more to the ad campaign than just Ghostriderwashere.com?

What is it like seeing our favourite characters grow and change into the movieverse while knowing that your part of its change?

To MSJ:

You mentioned in previous interviews that you learned a lot from making Daredevil, what have you learned from making Ghost Rider?

MSJ,

Most of us are eagerly anticipating your film next month and it really appears you've done the character some justice. It's surely been a long struggle for this franchise to get off the ground for a variety of reasons. Looking forward to it so here's my questions: (Answer what you can...much appreciated.)

1) You said you'd surely do a sequel if the fan's show up, the box office is suitable enough to warrant a sequel, and the script can top this one. I know we got to wait and see what happens but at the same time surely you've thought up a general idea of what villains you'd like to see in the sequel should everything fall into place. Do you have a short list of favorites??? Even if you can't tell us who could you at least tell us that you do have something in mind???

2) Are you going to be attending the San Diego Comic-Con in 2007 to promote the Ghost Rider DVD? Since it's a February release I'd imagine the DVD would hit the stores in July right in time huh?

3) Regarding Daredevil and Elektra. I'd really love to see those characters in a film where you have more control and the studio has more confidence in you. I've read plenty of interviews with you that state how you'd go about it. To me though I think a Kingpin franchise is even more interesting. Kind of like the Scarface of the Marvel Universe. I can't imagine New Regency/Fox doing the right thing by these characters or having any confidence in them since they can always fall back on X-men and FF so hopefully the rights will go back home. Would you be interested in tackling a Kingpin feature(s)???

4) I'm sure I'll get flamed for this. LOL. I really love all your blogs on Sony's site, and how you visit us here from time to time but you don't seem to have a myspace presence which is the trend right now. Jon Favreau, Tim Story, Louis Leterrier, Steve Niles, Edgar Wright, and one of your producer friends has their pages set up there. Most of the feature films even have their own official myspace site as well. I think it's a very powerful tool to have a site like that even if you don't use it to respond individually to fans. The bulletins are a great way to get the message across, etc...Have you considered opening up at least a generic site to pass on info or are you happy with the outlets you use now???

5) Lastly, back to Daredevil. You talked in one interview about possibly going back to the yellow duds. Hopefully not yellow leather. How would that translate onto the big screen??? :wow:

Thanks for everything. Ghost Rider looks like it's gonna be alot of fun. I'm predicting it's gonna break the Presidents Day weekend record myself and crack 60-65 million over the Holiday weekend. :)

To MSJ,

1)This character allows to explore some themes and visuals never seen before in a Marvel movie. How does it feel to establish the possible start of the Marvel's movie universe supernatural aspect?

2)How do you feel about the inability to have different marvel movie characters crossover/appearance due to their rights aquired by various companies?

My question is:

Mark Steven Johnson, after three years plus of working on Ghost Rider, the release date is almost here. What's going though your mind, right now? :cwink:

Thanks SHH. There are lots more questions in the Ask MSJ part IV thread, if you're short!

:yay:
