Assassin's Creed - Part 1

I like the first Mortal Kombat. IMHO, it's not a great film, but it's a watchable little martial arts fantasy movie. It's like Enter the Dragon with some fantasy elements.

I like the cinematic story modes in the last two games. However, if you look at the narratives, they do a lot of silly stuff in order to arrange two sides or opponents fighting each other. Plus all the rather convenient and easy character resurrections. Kill off half the cast in one game? No problemo. So it wouldn't be a simple matter of just turning those campaigns into movies.

Assassin's Creed is all about empowering the player in becoming a cool Assassin in an ancient time period. I mean, it's a cool fantasy power trip at one point. It's like imagining your past lives or where you come from. What if your ancient ancestor was a super BA warrior in an ancient war that goes all the way back to the beginnings of human history? So not only did you have an ancestor that was a badass warrior, you can also live out the memories of that warrior too. That's an amazing concept for a video game. But the key is that it works in a video game because the player is enabled as this ancient warrior who can run around all these iconic cities. You can assassinate a target and then be gone in the blink of an eye.

Hopefully the movie can figure that formula out.

So I've never played the games - not really my cup of tea when I had a Playstation, so know nothing about the game/plots/characters etc...
The trailer for the film looked badass though. Can i go into the film cold or do I need some background knowledge to enjoy it?

Trailer 2 looks like Zack Snyder and John Hyams ****ed and birthed The Matrix. Loved it.

You should be since this movie looks similar to the first AC game.

The theatrical trailer kinda sucks because of the music. I actually love the teaser with the Kanye track. It gets me hyped.

No movie should require you to know the source material, other than perhaps previous films in the series. So I hope they don't expect people to have played the games first.

I'm not really a fan of Kanye but after re-watching that teaser again this morning, I actually think that song was perfect and I miss it in the most recent trailer.

It's weird seeing women getting punched by dudes in trailers now, with the latest trailer and Suicide Squad. Contextually, I get it and people of all creeds can be 'bad'.. But it's weird when that's allowed, and blood still has to be black via After Effects in green band trailers.

Movie is gonna suck.

I still want my Halo movie though.

It's actually not a bad track at all unless the final minute of the song. That's when Kanye and autotune goes full ******.

The hand to hand combat in this film could only look "groundbreaking" to someone that doesnt watch many films.

I'm not saying that they don't look good.
I know. What I am trying to say is that they look above average here. The majority of action in movies is still rather mediocre, even in the tentpoles. So I wouldn't say it looks like every other movie. That is all. :yay:

Okay, I get it.

Yeah its some flashy slick choreography but its nothing that hasnt been seen in foreign films specifically asian cinema.

Of course there is the possibility that the editing could ruin all that good choreography if the fight scenes are edited down to rapid short disorienting shots

I wanna see a scene dedicated solely to pickpocketing someone. But success is thwarted at the last minute by a beggar lady asking for some coins.

Classic Ass Creed.

I wonder if the bad guys will only find dead bodies concerning for a few seconds before once again acting like everything is perfectly fine.

I wonder if they will have that cut scene when you kill the primary target in a DNA sequence.
