NY-Post lists the film as one of next year's potential Oscar contenders.

If it's the only period piece hitting that time it can sweep costume and make up designs.

Go see Macbeth and you'll get why this movie might be giving the execs confidence for a sequel.

Anyway it's from Tracking Board who are more "miss" than "hit" anyway.

I'm pretty sure every studio tentatively puts down a date for a potential sequel to an intended franchise starter.

And ignore Gloomy Gus, he just likes making every thread miserable.

That's ignorant nonsense.

Nothing is true, everything is permitted.

Which part?

The part about the period piece coming out in December having a chance at awards that period pieces generally get?

The part about the studio making an intended franchise starter and dating an anticipated sequel, because it's their job?

Or the bit where you like to ruin things for everyone? :o

I can name multiple instances of people here explaining how I got them even more excited about multiple projects. To say I ruin things for everyone is an ignorant lie and borderline libel.

Lotta suing going on here.

Y'all are Templars in disguise. :o

Yep, I'm also with Spectre, SMERSH, Umbrella, Weyland Yutani, League of Assassins and PETA.

If Ra's al ghul and the League of Assassins were in the AC universe i'd picture him being part of the Assassin's Order rather than the Templars. :funny:

This film isn't coming out in December. They aren't stupid enough (least I hope they aren't) to try to open a video game adaption against a star wars movie. AC is either moving up or back, but no way it opens in December.

it's scheduled for release I think a couple of weeks after Rogue One and there is such thing as alternate viewings. Unless you think from now on no movie should open in the month a SW franchise opens.

The schedule is cramped as it is these days with major movies being placed in every month as it is.

I've always thought they're pulling it back to October since Gambit had no way of making that date. But I don't expect studios to just give Star Wars the month of December all of a sudden. It's not going to be that big a deal forever.

In its current place AC opens 5 days after Rogue One. That's suicide. You just don't pit a $200 million video game adaption against Disney and star wars. Not unless you want to stack the cards against a film that's already got an uphill battle and stigma to overcome.

They need to pull AC back to October or bump it into 2017. When or if this first film is a success then they can consider squaring off with a heavy hitter. There's no need or sensible reason for this newborn hopeful franchise to square off with star wars right now.

If I had to make a guess I'd say they are waiting for the Rogue One teaser and the response to it before they make a decision.

It's not going to win those Oscars either ;) .

OK, am I skeptical? Yes. I fully admit it. Sony doesn't have the greatest track record as of late IMHO, and neither do video game movies.

Besides that, this is not about me trying to ruin things for everyone, it's just calling it like I see it. I'm doubtful this movie will be a game changer or a huge hit.

The viral marketing indicates something will happen on the 25th of March, so unless the next AC game has to do with the Greek war of independance, most people are guessing a trailer with BvS.

How does it seem Sony can get something like this right and something else that's established so wrong?

When it comes to major movies at the big studios it's more to do with the producer(s) than the studio itself.

Because Sony is not involved with the film, it's Fox.

The thread title is outdated.
