Assassin's Creed - Part 1

The Matrix would have been a thousand times more better if they had those rigs.

Their movements in those rigs have a mechanical purpose and are no different from using levers and wheels to move the servos which in turn move the machine. The use of two pilots and that bridge stuff is pretty stupid however.

In the case if the animus there is no sensible reason for him to be moving around at all. He isnt moving a physical machine. He is experiencing a memory by way of his brain and a computer. Think of it like a dream. When we dream do we need to act out the motions to dream that we are running, jumping, walking etc? Him simply lying their thinking about the act of running and jumping should be enough for the animus. It is in the games, but I guess this animus in the film is a ****** alpha build.

Everything about piloting the robots was stupid and I didn't care at all. Because that had no bearing on the film, it didn't make things better or worse.

Just my opinion, and this is just going by the trailers and the clips, but I'm wondering if this version of the animus is the way it is so that Abstergo can better observe the memories as well?

I think she told him to jump maybe because, as with the game, you can lose synchronization if you don't follow the memory/try and deviate from what happened.

Just my take on it (and I acknowledge I could end up being wrong).

I do agree, though, that the editing on that clip was poor. Hopefully it is indeed just a case of chopping up the scene for promotional purposes (for the talk show rounds and what not)

The review embargo apparently lifts the day before release.

UGH! I had held out hope for this one. I'll still end up seeing it, because this is somewhat different from your typical video game movie in that the lore in this film is canon in the video game series and I want to know what happens.

I had thought that the 12/21 release date which is very significant for those familiar with the game was intentional, but I think now it's nothing more than an afterthought, trying to bury this film in what will be a huge weekend for Rogue One, and between that and when Passengers releases will die a quick death Ezio style. Requiescat in Pace.

I don't know.... seeing some of these initial reviews from Passengers (granted, reviews are still only just coming in, but it's started out low on RT - it's at 24% with 13 rotten 4 fresh) - it might not be the behemoth of competition for AC that some have feared (though I could acknowledge that could change...and - as ever - there's no telling whether the general audience will agree with critics or not)

I wasn't aware that it was getting bad reviews. That's unfortunate, I thought it looked promising. I was more speaking at the general sense of burying a film between to widely advertised films, that's usually a red flag. Seeing the late embargo lifting makes it an even bigger red flag.

If this does turn out to be garbage, I'll be disappointed. Ubisoft skipped releasing an AC game this year, specifically so that the story line of the film would fill in the gap.

There's the info I was looking for. The search for a good video game movie continues.

So I guess this is another film that won't break the video game curse.

Oh, well. At least we still have the Tetris Cinematic Universe to look forward to.

It's strange that this movie is being released on Wednesday. I still plan to see it but I don't know when because it's Xmas week. My last google search returned positive feedback for the movie; but some of it was strange like IMDB having a 9 rating and the movie isn't even out. Also read that the studio is gearing up for a trilogy.

This happens with pretty much all major blockbusters. They open up the rating pretty much as soon as the advanced screenings have occurred. So there are *some* (though certainly not the majority) of those IMDb ratings that could be legitimate.

It is probably being released on Wednesday because movie theaters are closed on Christmas

Movie theaters do great business on Christmas. It is opening on Wed, because it is the Wed before the holiday weekend.

12/21 is a very significant date in the game (although it was 12/21/2012). I imagine part of the thought process was to release it on that date.
