So I bought a PS4, and yet I have to deal with the XBox's limitations because...it wouldnt be fair to XBox gamers. What kind of PC gradeschool BS is this?

Haha we live in the age of political correctness. Its just now starting to infect gaming, but its spread just like the cancer it is just about every where else.

First I lose Tomb Raider to the Xbox and now Im losing quality, because the Xbox's hardware is anemic. Microsoft, if you cant keep up with the big boy then get out of the game.

This. It's incredibly frustrating and Sony must be absolutely pissed.

Eh close enough.

No, its all true, unless your eyes are bionic. They cant physically see the difference between 900 and 1080 if the television is of a certain size, which according to Bensta is anything under 47". You might THINK you can tell the difference, but you cant, unless your TV meets that level. I personally don't have a TV in my house over 42" and the TV i do all my gaming on is 32".

I guess I have bionic eyes. FYI, my tv is 46"

I wonder if Microsoft paid them to do this? I really wouldnt put it past MS.

If the whole 1080p thing was a non-issue like it should be, developers wouldn't have felt the pressure to do this. But fans were so quick to lord this useless crap over others, this is what happens.

It does feel like Microsoft is doing nothing but inconveniencing millions of people.

I mean, granted, this is a small issue, but the little things are starting to add up.

I think the most likely cause for this isn't some underhanded Microsoft ploy, but more likely that Ubisoft is just lazy. It's easier to make two games with the almost exact same specifications.

Which would actually be hilarious if that was the reason, and then Microsoft contacted them and offered them money.

No, you just fall into the category of thinking you can spot the difference. If Ubi wouldn't of told you about the increase in resolution, you wouldn't of spotted it.

Yea this is yet another example of gamers causing the issue at hand. Like you said, if gamers acted rationally, the framerate "issue" wouldn't exist. But, because its used as a banner of superiority, it forces Ubisoft to do things like this. Which is funny, because it completely backfired and only caused a bigger stir. I just cant believe Ubi didnt see this coming. Its either that or that just didnt care, people are gonna buy AC any way. You'll have your vocal minority claim boycott, while the vast game buying majority picks this up on November 11th.

I'm not saying the game looks visually decent, but the overall product.

After AC4, I'm not expecting too much.

Lets be clear, Ubisoft isnt doing this so that there wont be debates. Thats a crock of **** that Ubisoft is trying to feed us. The fans arent to blame for this.

This was done for money or because Ubisoft has some sort of deal with Microsoft. Hell, maybe MS has them bent over a barrel somehow and wont let them release a better version on PS4. IDK but the "official" reason is horse****. And frankly Im not really mad at Ubi. They are a game company which in this day and age means that at any given moment they are one or two screw-ups from bankruptcy. So if they did do this for money or to keep MS happy I cant say I blame them. But you can believe Im pissed at MS.

If MS would actually spend their money on the console hardware instead of shady under the table deals then maybe the XBox wouldnt be weaker than the PS4.

Instead they'd rather rig the game so they can compete, and thats some crooked **** as far as Im concerned.

Edit: Sorry for ranting. This stuff just makes my blood boil.

It was a shot in the dark. AMD should've warned MS they were aiming too low.

Ill never understand what MS was thinking when they picked their hardware. They essentially built an entry level gaming PC. Which imo a pretty lazy half ass thing to do.

Again, by virtue of being an AMD APU, the Xbox One and PS4 GPUs are technologically very similar — with the simple difference that the PS4 GPU is larger. In PC terms, the Xbox One has a GPU that’s similar to the (entry-level) Bonaire GPU in the Radeon HD 7790, while the PS4 is outfitted with the (mid-range) Pitcairn that can be found in the HD 7870. In numerical terms, the Xbox One GPU has 12 compute units (768 shader processors), while the PS4 has 18 CUs (1152 shaders). The Xbox One is slightly ahead on GPU clock speed (853MHz vs. 800MHz for the PS4).

In short, the PS4′s GPU is — on paper — 50% more powerful than the Xbox One. The Xbox One’s slightly higher GPU clock speed might ameliorate some of the difference, but really, the PS4′s 50% higher CU count is a serious advantage for the Sony camp. Furthermore, Microsoft says that 10% of the Xbox One’s GPU is reserved for Kinect. Games on the PS4 will have a lot more available graphics power on tap.

Once we leave the CPU/GPU, the hardware specs of the Xbox One and PS4 start to diverge, with the RAM being the most notable difference. While both consoles are outfitted with 8GB of RAM, the PS4 opts for 5500MHz GDDR5 RAM (similar to what you’d find on a modern graphics card), and the Xbox One uses 2133MHz DDR3 RAM (the same as the main RAM in your PC). This leads to an absolutely massive bandwidth advantage in favor of the PS4 — the PS4′s CPU and GPU will have 176GB/sec of bandwidth to system RAM, while the Xbox One will have just 68.3GB/sec.

MS didnt just aim low. They aimed for the sub basement of current gaming hardware. Sure its better than the 360, but that's not saying much at all when we consider that the 360 is almost 8 years old. When I read stuff like that it really makes me wonder if the Xbox One has even half the life of the PS4.

Personally, and I think I can actually say I don't have a bias (I hate both), I think they're both rather underpowered. Developers are already muttering that.

I don't know much about tech, but how much more would 16 gigs have cost?

Or a 1T HDD for that matter.

Of course I wouldn't. Without a frame of reference, there would be nothing to compare it to. However if they were to release a 1080p patch, the differences would become apparent just as they were with AC 4

I may noy be able to spot the difference between 900p and 1080p on my 32" (Ive never really tried to), but when I played Last of Us the difference between 30fps and 60fps was night and day.

This year, Assassin's Creed will look the same on Xbox One and PS4.
    ... More

People do realize they do this so they don't really have to work on two versions right? I own both systems, along with a WiiU, so I don't care. But they do this so they can release the same game and maximize it the best they can.

I dunno if it's political correctness, though. I wouldn't believe anyone at Ubisoft either, decided to spec two versions out of some sense of creating peaceful harmony on the internet (which is basically the wasteland from Mad Max).

An exchange of money, or shift in lead platform by partnership would make more sense.

Well...that, and the producer who said it was total idiot.

Changing the resolution on one version is not really tantamount to working on a whole new version.

I still don't get their 900p excuse. The Xbox One does 1080 just fine in pretty much every game I have for it..

Exactly. It isnt a difficult task at all and wouldnt require Ubisoft to make a whole new version.

As we saw with Black Flag, it can be done with a patch.

And PC gamers use mods on existing builds to pretty games up all the time. There really is no good reason for Ubisoft not making the PS4 version as pretty as it can functionally be. All this is is MS doesnt want the PS4 version showing up their Xbox version.
