You'll find hatred to be a much more useful emotion than love.
yea...it true. Jealous, greed, lust, hatered are out there. I wish Love was out there more often though.Revenge
Hai?
I think greed is probably the most powerful emotion of all. Everyone has a price as they say.
But hatred's up there. Kindness? Somewhere below boredom.
That's true.
And ah, I thought it might be an acronym. How's it going, ETM?
Greed could be motivated by a lot of things. Of course, all human emotions are driven by self-interest, even if humans aren't consciously aware of it.
Point is though, when it comes to religion, like anything else, humans by and large don't focus on the wish washy stuff. They'll cite that, but it's just there as window dressing.
It's sort of the paradox that is humanity. We're vicious animals, but for some reason we have to convince ourselves that we're actually good (i.e. moral). People who do terrible things generally believe they are doing something good.
It's quite fascinating. And horrific. It's what makes humanity so disturbing.
Good going on the A.
We are apes. In fact looking at the chimpanzee it's quite... remarkable, to see how much of us is reflected in them. Man, do they have a dark side.
While the Christian faith does have a lot of blood on its hands, it would be over-simplistic to say that the religion made the people vicious.
It's a chicken egg thing. Vicious people will give rise to vicious institutions (including religions). In its heyday, Christianity was extremely violent. But so was everything else. The state religion of the Roman Empire wasn't going to be a pleasant religion.
Look at Christianity today. Regardless of your thoughts on their beliefs, you'd have to agree that they are much less violent. Because the people who practice it are less violent.
Religions will ultimately reflect the people who make it / uphold it.
t:Well, you could tell them that all their ancestors were pagans. Doubt they'd care, but food for thought.
That's true.

I am going good. I got A in World Religions and C in Art Appreciation summer semester. 2.0 to 2.333 GPA now.
Um, we are animals...look at us compared to apes and the like. We think we are great, but we have done terrible things to this planet. And for what? Greed, power, religion, good vs evil.
I wonder if the world would be better off if more people were Atheist, Pagan, Wiccan, Buddhist, Hindu...anything but big 3...well that sounds kinda wrong, but the big 3 fight a lot and that ain't good.
I will only say I think overall Christians don't care for Pagans/Wiccans. I will never come out here in South...just that one time in World Religions. I'm afraid of what people will say. If I met Gary Johnson I would say I am Pagan to him, cause he is cool with freedom of religion.t:
Wouldn't you have to be an exceptional idiot to think the moon is only 10,000 years old? Yeah you can indoctrinate kids... but only so much.
Also no one has ever heard of felt electricity? ...put your finger in a socket?
46% of US-Americans believe it. That's 144,458,860 US-Americans. That's a hell of a lot of exceptional idiots.

Sad, really. Considering America's greatest achievement (after modern democracy) is going there.
I can't imagine anyone could walk on the moon and think it was 10,000 years old. Yet we have people who think the world is only 6,000 years old.
How the hell they imagine all modern animals, ice age animals, dinosaurs, etc all living on one planet in 6,000 years, is anyone's guess. Especially if some dinosaurs had the life expectancies comparable to turtles / tortoises.
s-s-s-stop ruining the flintstones for me.
I always imagined the Flintstones as really being set in the distant post-apocalyptic future.
You know, that saying "I do not know what weapons World War III will be fought with, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones."
Where'd the dinosaurs come from? Think Jurassic Park.
