Audience Reaction/Theatre Reports

Where you at the MJR in Chesterfield??? If not they did that at the theatre I was in too...lol

lol no- Panama City Florida. Though I did have a guy PM me asking if I in fact attended a third movie theater. It seems this was a popular reaction.

I hate audiences like that. Usually audience karma can affect your view of every movie. One reason I loved the Punisher I guess.

ok so i went to AMC dallas theatre, it was packed as expected, there were two guys one dressed as spiderman and another like venom, those suits were tight.... as for the audience reaction, well they did laugh more than i expected, and yes specially in the dramatic scenes, when peter cries about the whole thing over with mj,, also when Bernard said I LOVED YOUR FATHER, that too, also EMO Spidey, that too

i dont know i really need this to sink in a bit, thou i must say there was too much happenin at the end.. i think they shouldve developed more the character of both eddie brock and flint marko... at times it felt kinda rushed
and none dramatic, specially where eddie is suppose to get humiliated..
oh well... but yea thats the reaction i got tonite .. too much laughter too ok im tired, nite everyone

So I went to see it at the midnight show at the IMAX theater in Reading, MA and someone called in a bomb threat...

The crouds reaction was undescribable... Silent/blind rage filled the room. I just hope no one else here had to go through that either...

That's the worst thing to happen to anyone EVER. Did you at least get your money back? Because apparently someone was pissed that they couldn't make the show because it was sold out.

I thought it was one of the worst superhero movies I have ever seen. It was a terrible let down. I think way too many people were involved in the development and production of Spiderman 3. Too many peoples ideas or something. It was really bad, and the entire audience felt the same way. About 30-40 people left before the credits and I didn't hear any clapping. Everyone laughed at the parts that weren't meant to be funny. I was really let down.

The people at my theater clapped, and when MJ kissed Harry, everyone was saying "no way", "what?", and some more explicit words.

Walking out of the theater, the general consensus seemed to be rather negative. I wholeheartedly agreed. One guy in front of me said he's rather have just slept than watched it. Everyone I was with had the same opinion. The walk back to the car was not spent talking about our favorite scenes, but what they did wrong.

The audience was pretty lame throughout the film though. Yelling stupid comments when MJ kissed Harry, or when Peter cried. Stuff like that's just annoying and not funny at all.

Damn I heard that too.

LOL me too!

The reactions i my theatre were mixed but generally positive.
My girlfriend and my friends liked it, and I agreed with them, even if I have to admit that I'm changing my opinion...

Seems that the audience in my showing got more restless as it went along. This was an IMAX showing and they cut straight to the movie without any trailers. Sold out crowd; plenty of Venom and Spidey shirts. There was a big applause when people saw the Marvel logo. Then it seemed the energy just gradually waned. Decent reactions for the action sequences, but plenty of snickering/outright laughter when Peter cried, when MJ left him at the bridge, the aftermath of Dark Peter at the jazz club, Bernard saying he loved Norman and Harry and like scenes. A couple of '****' mentions when MJ kissed Harry.

Perhaps most telling was there was virtually no applause at the end. You could hear some isolated clapping, but I think people were caught off guard with there not being a final swing or just the ending itself. There were definitely some "That's it?" remarks as people filed out.

The audience I saw the movie with seemed really into the movie. There were gasps during Peter's aerial battle with Harry and when Peter hit Mary Jane, someone said out loud "oh no, you didn't!" Lots of Mary-Jane "****e"-calling in my viewing during the MJ-Harry kiss too. :woot:

There was a lot of laughter, but a lot of it was unintentional. People laughed at Bruce Campbell's cameo, and the Jameson comedy at the Bugle, but also on both occasions when Peter broke into tears and when MJ and Harry were dancing.

I'm always amazed by how people who say they thought the movie was average or even poor tend to have the worst audience experiences, while those who say they liked the film tend to have great audience experiences. Weird.

Audience has a HUGE impact on the movie. Didn't anyone go to the opening showing of Snakes on a Plane? Best movie experience ever. Such an energetic crowd!

i saw a special screening on wednsday and it was awesome, i was with all of those who work at marvel.

Yea i just got back from my midnight showing. I went to local imax theater it was sold out and. Their was alot of laughs and cheers throughout the movie. I was surprise it did not end like the first two did but the movie was really good i will probably see it a second time during the weekend.

well at least THAT's a good sign!!!

I went to a theatre where 8 out of the 11 auditoriums playing SM3 were sold out. I was kinda worried about the crowd being too rowdy and immature, but when the opening scene finally came around they were pretty into it.
There were a lot of laughs (obviously some were not intended by the movie), a lot of gasps, and I sat next to a black friend of mine who was REALLY into it, especially when Spidey went bad. That really helped the experience for me lol. The rest of the audience was pretty into it as well. They laughed at the Bruce Campbell scene and I was impressed so many people started laughing when he first appeared. Most of the Jameson stuff they laughed at too, except for the camera scene at the end.

My Venom fanboy friend didn't like SM3 because it didnt have enough Venom, and "Sandman wasn't necessary." I knew he was gonna be let down because he always hypes up every major blockbuster and ends up unimpressed cuz it doesn't meet his "second coming" expectations lol.

I was very happy with the film as the credits rolled around. I loved the intense moments with Harry and Peter, and most of the scenes with Sandman. I thought Topher Grace did a pretty good job, especially pre-symbiote, with Eddie Brock. I especially liked the scene in the church. And I loved the emotional fight scenes between Harry/Peter and Sandman/Peter. I thought the movie did a good job with the symbiote too. I didn't much like the whole emo thing, but all the other aspects of the symbiote and its host were spot on I thought. And everyone, including myself, loved the cookie scene, it was a nice touch.

All that said, I'm just a casual comic book fan, but I thoroughly enjoyed it.
In my opinion, I thought it was the best comic book movie.

I was there with you buddy, I absolutely cannot believe it. I don't know what to do, all I want to do is see the movie this weekend, and every show is sold out. I'm gonna call the theater in a little bit when they open and see if they are adding another show sometime this weekend.

I have mediocre feelings toward the movie but the theater reaction was great; packed audience and they laughed, cheered and even clapped at the end, including the beginning when the usher announced that the film would begin.

I was so angry at the movie, arg

The movie I was at, left in a somber mood. NO clapping or anything.

ARG ARG.. People were flipping out in the street, it was.. not cool

But I was right there, along side them.

Well I went to the midnight showing thursday/friday and the audience was pumped and everything. Everyone laughed at the overtopness(word?) of Pete's random piano and dance skills and especially his emo hair(though this movie had too much funny not enough...how do u ay good movie). But there was one reaction that surprised me. When Petes fighting with the security gaurd at the Jazz club and knocks over MJ, 20 + people clapped. Im sorry but it was byfar the funniest thing ive ever witnessed, IDk just sharing.

A guy where i was, ONE GUY went HAAAA!!!!!! when she got wacked then everyone just started laughing at him.

There were some moments when the audience clapped (Venom's birth) and others when the laughed...but not with it, at it (Peter dancing, Peter/Harry fight)

So overall, it was slightly mixed.

This is so true. When I saw the second film the crowd didn't seem that into the movie and I think that's one of the reasons why I was initially iffy about it.
