Heroes is coming to Australia in 07!

I can't wait!

I've heard so many things about it and most of it is good so I'll definately be watching it.

Anything I need to know before I watch it?

go to the bathroom before the show comes on
you won't want to miss a second
actually, you can't afford to, if you want to fully comprehend it all

If channel 7 slots it somewhere and keeps it there then the show will find its viewers. I hate it when the FTA networks move US shows everywhere (especially 7 and 9) then give up on them claiming they had "poor ratings".

lets just hope that heroes stays, not like a lot of other shows.

Well - like Lost (have not seen any for Desperate Housewives, another popular 'flagship' show though), the network of Channel 7 has been promoting Heroes like mad; two, three months in advance.

Call me optimistic, but I find that that bodes well for its future on international television.

I hadn't thought about that but it's a good point. I hope your right. :D

:)

It's funny, because despite the unaired status in Australia - or overseas - as yet or even because of it, people I spoke to tell of their friends downloading Heroes and watching it just, well, because. So quite a few people already are aware of it, outside of the promos.

In related news, bit of an update regarding fellow Australians: new and extended footage in what would be now ad number 2 of Heroes is showing at the moment.

I wasn't sure but when does the ratings period actually start...?

Looking forward to Hero's here in Australia. Genre tv seems to get the rough end of the stick a lot of the time on free to air aussie tv, although the success of hero's in the US has been recognised over here so this could breath life back into genre tv. Lost certainly has helped a lot, but i'm sick of seeing shows like Battlestar, Stargate, and Alias on at midnight.

thats still on?! I used to watch it all the time when it first came here but it just stopped so I had no idea!

Battlestar is a great series, very under rated IMO. The last part of season two started again last night (Sunday) at 11:45 pm :( , new timeslot. I think they will continue straight through to season three, well it would be nice.

Sorry for going off topic, back on topic now.

I'll have to remember that and start watching it again.

anyway, yes, back on topic. Does anyone know when Heroes is going to be on yet?

Well - to answer my own question as to when the ratings period may start, the advent being in early Feb would more than likely coincide with the debut of Heroes.

Ditto for Lost, but their ads seem to have run a little sooner so I don't really know if they start at the same time or one begins a little ahead of the other.

I've also been seeing recent ads for Desperate Housewives (why they were not showcased alongside Heroes and Lost, I had wondered about), which leads me to think that the latter could probably debut at a later date.

But I don't pretend to know anything really otherwise.

And mierde, after some thought, your fears that Heroes may not succeed were dispelled but I realise you may have been thinking about long term. After all, aforementioned shows like Alias and Battlestar and Stargate did have a strong start but fettered out in consecutive seasons.

But I reckon the best chances for success lie in viewership numbers: the higher they are, the more longevity it receives.

Then again of course, the nature of the game can change, and that's just an offshoot of the media industry. The key is maintenance, consistency and lateral thinking.

Right now, I'm assured Heroes will stick around for a good long while - quality, storytelling structure/originality and thematic narrative (social commentary of sorts) gives it an edge; gives it an overall resounding resonance to the audiences, and that tells me a lot about the finished product and its existence in the bigger scheme of things.

^ The problem is that the major networks move shows around too much and then decide to slot the show in some stupid timeslot and blame poor ratings and the show is then pretty much doomed. Look at Smallville on Ch9. Smallville was doing pretty well then mid way through season 2 they pulled it and it never saw the light of day until last year when Ch10 decided to bring it back from oblivion.

The main reason why show fails in Aus is that networks have absolute s**t TV programmers who think that most people enjoy the crap that Australia produces, and boy do we have a lot of it on our TVs.

Having said all that though I do hope Ch7 slot Heroes in a nice timeslot. I think they'll probably give put it in on Wed 8:30pm after they finish airing the first season of The Unit. They could try a Sunday timeslot which I think might work.

It is been shown @ 9:30 on Thursdays after Lost. Pretty good timeslot. A lot of people will stick around to watch this after Lost.

I just saw the add!!!! I can't wait! 31st January

Yep, Wednesday 8:30pm it is. Wonder what will happen to season 2 of Prison Break now that Heroes has taken the timeslot. That slot has done well for Ch7 in the past and Prison Break was pulling nice numbers and convincingly beating the competition every week.

I never really got into Prison Break. I don't really care what happens to it now, all I really care about is Heroes.
