Jerry Goldsmith's theme for Air Force One could easily have been a Captain America theme, particularly for something like Civil War.

Jerry's son Joel is dead as well unfortunately. Don't know how like his father he is but he did a number of themes and collaborated with Jerry on a few scores so there must be some similarity.

Keep The Avengers Theme established by Alan Silvestri and I'll be happy.

Oh Joel definitely inherited his dad's gift for melody. His scores for the Stargate franchise were wonderful. It's a shame he's gone too, he didn't really 'break out' like his dad was in terms of fame, but he was a good composer.

Having Danny Elfman involved with the score makes me so happy. I love his Spider-Man and Batman scores.

I love love love Danny Elfman. His Batman and Spider-Man themes were magical, and I'm stoked to see him involved with the Avengers!

I wonder if he was just brought in for a specific theme. An Ultron theme by Elfman could be potentially badass.

If it was just a theme, the proper credit would be "Theme by Danny Elfman". I have a feeling Tyler was unavailable to rescore a few scenes or something, and they brought in Elfman to pick up the slack.

It puzzles me, especially since Elfman isn't really a composer-for-hire that fills the gaps of another composer's existing score.

Maybe the Spider-Man theme is being used in the end credits for a Spider-Man cameo. Even though it was meant specifically for the Raimi series, perhaps it's just a little nod since it is the most recognisable Spidey theme without it being the 60s cartoon theme which might not fit with the overall tone of the film. So maybe it's just an acknowledge of Elfman for using his work there.

The thing is, when studios use a temp track, the composers are credited in the end credit scroll. Not featured in the main credits.

Its kinda odd that thered be 2 composers on AOU. Why wouldnt Joss just use Tyler for the whole score? this movie is bigger than anything else Tyler would be doing anyway. i doubt he'd skip out to do another one. The only thing I can think of is that Dannys additional score is a separate one for another character....

Hmmm... the one-sheet poster says "Music by Brian Tyler"... then has "Additional Music by Danny Elfman" next to it.

This puzzles me as well. I wonder if it's an "Army Of Darkness" sort of deal. Where Elfman composed the "March Of The Dead" theme and scene, while Joseph Lo Duca composed the rest of that score,

I also wonder if this will be the beginning of future collaborations between Elfman and the MCU ?

Maybe it's not as dire as people suggested. Perhaps Tyler is friends with Elfman, the scoring work got a bit much (they DID just shoot a big action sequence last month), and asked him to help out?

Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard worked together on The Dark Knight, could just be a similar deal

Maybe Spider-Man or Men in Black." It transpires that he is more likely to notice the ones his father didn't write. "Sometimes he gets cross with me. 'You did this one, right?' 'No, I actually didn't.'" Elfman imitates the disappointed groan of a disgruntled child. "'Why didn't you do Avengers Assemble?' 'I'm sorry, son.'"

Imagine that. I remembered this interview when I looked at the poster and relaxed from my totally major geek-asm ... He is talking about his son (Elfman that is). That's a good dad xD

I just hope that they reuse the original "Avengers Group Theme" from the first film.

I really hate it at times that Marvel's sequels always seem to abandon the main themes from their previous heroes. There never seems to be any sense of continuity when it comes to that.

I doubt this Elfman thing means much. He also did additional music for Kick-Ass and it was totally random.

I read that Tylers AOU score is inspired by John Williams' Star Wars, Superman and Raiders of The Lost Ark. Add Danny Elfman to that and it should be pretty sick. :)

I am predicting that Christophe Beck will do the score for Age of Ultron, since he did the score for past Disney movies like Big Hero 6, Muppets Most Wanted, and Frozen.

UM???? HUH?

Do you mean Ant-Man which he already has the job for?

Was he credited on the Kick Ass poster for that?
I dunno, but he only contributed one short track (as several composers did on that film), so I doubt it. Still, even if he had contributed more tracks, it was basically filler music, so "additional music by" probably isn't worth getting excited over, imo. It's just something he does from time to time.

Apparently Elfman's been on the movie since the start of Feb and hasn't recorded yet. So his contribution is probably substantial.
