World Bad parts?

All right....I was watching Superman II on tv just now......and I noticed a couple things that were.....well.......kinda weak. But, it didn't bother me at all. So, I was wondering......anyone got any parts from the previous films....I'd say the first 2 films since the last 2 films are just too easy to pick on, and pick out parts of the film that IF released today would drive people ****ing nuts.

For example, Superman running away from the fight in Metropolis. It seemed like the writers just got lazy there. They couldn't come up with a creative way to get Superman and Zod with his team and Lois and Luthor back to the Fortress.

That's something I think tons of snots would pick on in these boards like crazy.

Actually I don't think that part was lazy at all. I thought it was a great scene when he stood up...looked around...realized he was outmatched....and left. It was very smart on Superman's part...to convince his enemies that he's running scared when really he's leading them to a trap...his own turf. Nothing lazy, that's great writing.

There ARE a few things that I didn't like about SupesII, though. And not stupid little nitpicky things like everyone loves to do. I really never liked the entire Eiffel Tower sequence (thank god Donner's cut won't have that, I don't think)....never liked that the boy in the rural town has an ENGLISH accent. WTF? Some of the doubles were done badly (especially Hackman's).

But when Supes says, "General! Would you care to step outside?" ....I forgive all this because it's the single greatest moment in Superman film history.

Don't you remember that Lex Luthor told them where he lived? So he then led them there...

I know Lex knew. My problem is with Superman.....

How did Superman KNOW that Lex knew, thus leading them there?

I don't think Superman knew, unless I missed something.

Well... I guess they just expected to pull one over on the audience.

I hated Supermans seeming telepathic abilities from the first one...can't remember if they used them in the 2nd one or not though...and the big saran wrap thing he threw on Zod's male henchman, that was pretty stupid...everything with Luthor in the first one sucked, especially when he was with his sidekicks...turning the world around backwards was bad...I could have done without some of the cornier things Zod did too, but he was such a bad ass he made up for it with his bad-assity :o

See Bingy, that's what I was talking about in Lazy writing......not actually having Superman leave.....just the way it was done.

Filmmakers......pfftt.....they think they're sooo smart.

I guess it is tough though, to know WHO to blame since the SUPERMAN II was an oddessy.

Yeah, I guess I didn't really know what you were asking at first. I guess Supes just figured they would probably stop if he left, and if they followed him then that would even be a bonus. Well who's to blame? The script supervisor, the screenwriter, the producers, the editor, and the director. I think every film should have about three guys hired called the "common sense" guys, who just watch the new reels of footage that come in everyday and critique it, notifying the studio of any plotholes and mistakes that could catch up to them afterwards.

The wierd thing about SUPERMAN II is the change in directors, from Donner to Lester......and the fact that Donner did film like half of the movie, I think that's one of the reasons it's tough to find who to blame. I've heard the film would have been pretty damn different if Donner had not been fired.

Superman left to set the trap with the molecular chamber, not in the hope they would immediately follow him. By letting them think he was running away, he bought himself some time. (So you could argue that he intended to lead them to the fortress later.)

On the other hand, he was aware that Lois knew its location. Since he also knew how Lex thought, he probably realized what Zod and Co. were doing at the Daily Planet.

Did any see the family guy episode when they made fun of this ?

Isn't he putting her in danger that way, though?

Plus, she didn't tell them. She was loyal, and he knew that.

- General Zod and cronies being locked in by rotating hooli-hoops.
- "The Phantom Zone" being a piece of glass, that magically sucks General Zod and cronies into it. And how much of a punishment can the Phantom Zone be if it breaks... JUST like glass?
- Not even getting to see Clark discover his ability to fly for the first time.(Which is one of the best parts of the mythos) It just cuts to Superman flying from his fortress, where he also magically changed clothes from a normal man with normal clothes...to the Superman outfit??? wtf.
- Pa Kent dying. The fact that he is alive in the comics kind of seperates Superman from other heroes. He is a good old farm boy, with both parents who still watch over him. Superman isn't angst ridden like Peter Parker and Bruce Wayne. What was the point in killing father Kent off?

I will continue this later.

So lets see.. you think the rotating rings sucks, your opinion.

The phantom zone breaks like a piece of glass? So I guess it takes a nuclear explosion to break windows on earth huh?

You think maybe he made the suit while in the fortress? He has the blankets with him on the way.

The Kents were always dead before the reboot. You can't pick on Superman: The Movie for changing things about the comics and then pick on it for sticking to the comics.

Superman was putting Metropolis and everyone in more danger trying to fight the villains than he was flying off. Think about it. He throws a punch, they retaliate by throwing a bus full of people? See what I'm getting at? What if they decided to toss Lois out a window in retaliation?

Superman doesn't have telepathic abilities in Superman: The Movie.

I understand why he left, I get that.....and actually am fine with it.

It just makes no sense in how Superman expected them to get to the FOS. I mean, that right there is something fanboys would scream bloddy plot hole.

Well, I realize this may be stretching it a little, but maybe Superman knew that Lex knew where the fortress was. I mean, Superman's gotta be wondering how Zod knows he's the son of Jor-El. I mean sure, he has the S on his chest, but Zod responded to Superman's appearance without any hesitation. Who else would rat Superman out to Zod besides Lex? And how else would Lex know about Jor-El? The fortress.

In Superman II, when the top of the skyscraper is knocked off, and the woman is just standing there yelling "My Baby! Superman, Help!" rather than simply moving out of the way.

I would say that the obvious matte lines in Superman 4 are the worst and having the same flying shot of Superman towards the camera.

Not to mention the visible wires when Superman lands on the moon.
