Bad Robot/Jonathan Nolan Bringing "Westworld" to HBO - Part 1

What other unknown third brother is there for the series to cast?

Not my Floki! They've actually covered a lot of time in Vikings, he could have just aged out and had a more natural death. Guess I'll find out when it starts up again.

‘Westworld’ Creators Tease Medieval And Roman Worlds In Season 2 Of HBO Series

On Day 2 of the 2017 Vanity Fair Summit, Westworld creators Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy hinted at the possibility of the introduction of new theme parks in the next season, specifically Roman World and Medieval World, amusement park zones which were included in Michael Crichton’s original 1973 movie. At the top of the panel discussion, Nolan and Joy were asked why they left out Roman World and Medieval World in season 2 with Nolan responding “We had to save something for Season 2.”

This comes after it was hinted in the season one finale of Westworld, that Samurai World, another violent amusement park, would open its doors in the upcoming sophomore run.

Production Interrupted After Recurring Actor’s “Medical Emergency”

“Due to a medical emergency involving a performer in a recurring role on season 2 of Westworld, filming on one of the two units has been temporarily suspended,” HBO said in a statement to Deadline. “The cast member was not on set when this occurred, and out of respect for the performer’s privacy, we have no additional details to share, other than that everyone at Westworld sincerely hopes for a quick recovery.”

Saw a single report that said it was someone who'd fallen over and struck their head on something... but are okay.

Yeah, I hope it's nothing really bad. :(

Westworld Season Two will Air on HBO in Spring 2018

Evan Rachel Wood confirmed what many of us had hoped and prayed for: Westworld season 2 will return in Spring of 2018! Here’s the tweet for confirmation:

We know that the Westworld season 2 team has been shooting at locations you might expect this fall. But with all of the delays and problems associated with season 1’s production we weren’t holding our breaths for a mid or early 2018 release date. But here we are! Basking in the sun of a Spring, 2018 premiere date. Hey, that’s Game of Thrones’ old timeslot! Let’s hope Westworld becomes just as big and just as beloved.

But I want to see it now. :(

I really hope Zahn is OK....I liked him in Fargo and Longmire.

The initial reports seemed to suggest that he was recovering and was going to be fine

Jeffrey Wright is such an underrated actor. Shaft, Syriana... I sure pray he's in the next Bond film.

Kore Conversations: Jennifer Yuh Nelson & Lisa Joy
Joy: You know, I just directed for the first time recently, and I made this joke to my DP. There was a goat in the background. I said, “What if we do this slow push-in on the goat, for the whole time, for the entire scene?” Which I would never do! And I laughed and I said, “Well, no woman would ever direct again.” There’s a kind of pressure sometimes that you’re not just representing yourself, but you know that everyone’s trying to make inroads right now, and you know that collectively you’re not just trying to do a good job for you and your vision, but you also don’t want to let everyone down. You want to say, “I can take this franchise. I can take this and I can knock it out of the park.” Which is why I love working with women, because nobody works harder. Nobody has earned more what they’re doing than the women I work with.

Nelson: Because they know it’s a rare opportunity. Very, very rare, and unexpected. I’ve had a lot of times where young women filmmaking students will come up to me and they would talk about how they love doing the craft, but they’re scared of actually being able to make it. I think it’s hard for everyone, anyone, to make it. But they have that extra layer of fear that they’re not going to be able to make it through. It’s something that’s a little frightening to see in someone that’s so young and fearless.

Joy: I think it also comes from having someone to imprint on, or having a role model. I remember the reason why I leapt into directing this year was I was working with Michelle MacLaren on our show —

Nelson: Super cool.

Joy: Yeah, she’s awesome! She was like, “You should totally do this. You’re kind of micromanaging behind the scenes anyway, so you might as well just go direct.” And coming from a director that I like so much and who’s so affected by her job, to hear that and to hear, “Don’t be a coward. Don’t sit there equivocating. Just go do the work.” It was the kind of kick in the pants that I needed. I’m sure your work has inspired so many people to say, “Why not me? Why can’t it be me?”

Nelson: I can speak for myself — when I walk around, people don’t go, “Oh my gosh, that is such an unusual human being to have done that.”

Joy: Exactly!

I have to rewatch the first season before this airs.

HBO's Here and Now airs on Sundays until April 15th, so I would expect Westworld to premiere April 22nd and wrap up their season at the end of June. It will help with an Emmys push as recent top shows have taken advantage of airing in the spring to help earn nominations/votes.
