So, I started noticing my hair getting slightly thin around the age of 19-20, just one side of my hairline looked somewhat thin, then I looked at the back and noticed a slight bald spot, I didn't think too much of it... I figured I'd be okay if it didn't get any worse until I was at least in my 30's... but it has gradually gotten worse and worse, a very slow progression. I feel like I still probably have enough hair left to keep it without looking ridiculous, but the time is coming when I'll most likely be forced to shave it. I'm a little afraid of how it will look. I got it buzzed awhile back, and can't say I was a fan of the look. :csad:

My brother is pretty much completely bald on top, and he's younger than me. Looking at both sides of the family, I guess it was pretty evident we would be going bald (dad's bald, both grandad's bald, even my mom's mom hair is really thin.)

Anyone else going through this in there 20's, or did go through this? It really blows haha.

My two problems with my hair is that when I was a teen due to a lot of home issues I tore out bits of my hair from frustration which has left me with a slightly odd hairline that makes me sort of look like I'm going bald but it doesn't recede anymore than that. The second is that I've had grey hairs since I was in my early twenties which is common in my fathers side of the family. My grandfather had pure white hair by 45 I think.

I also know a guy who is around 25 and has a fully bald head on top. He always wears a hat and the first time I ever saw him without it I did a double take because he has thick hair otherwise.

My hair started to turn grey in places when I was in my early 20s. I am almost 28 now, and I have noticed that it's starting to thin in the front a bit as well. I've always kept my hair buzzcut short, but it's becoming more and more noticeable how much scalp is showing through now. Such is life though. I too plan to shave it when it starts to recede fully, but that seems to be a little while down the road, at least.

Don't quote me on this but I'd read a high level of testosterone usually causes baldness. Maybe you'd like to get that checked out by whatever doctor men see to test male hormone levels.

I'd settle for a few grey hairs if it meant I had them all over my head.

Yeah, I'm not sure how much more time I'll have before I am forced to buzz/shave it. Hopefully at least a few more years... but oh well. Got a few decent hats to wear at least... :(

It sucks. You never really notice other peoples thin hair until it's happening to you... at least I didn't.

Yeah, High Testosterone does cause baldness apparently. Some girls I've talked to actually mentioned that and said "it just means you're more manly." At least some are sweet about it, haha!

I'm going bald too (more noticeable at 40); it's just part of life. If your doctor has an actionable solution, then go for it, but if s/he doesn't or it's too expensive, just let it happen. Shave your head, grow a goatee, work out some more so you look like a badass, develop a look around it.

If we were our simian ancestors living in a state of nature, baldness up top and hair at the crest of your back is nature's way of saying "**** with me at your peril, for I have lived and seen many hunts and moons."

I wish I could fully understand you but as a woman without a genetic disposition towards baldness I am ignorant about this problem. I can feel your pain in your words though, like you don't want to shave your head but what else can you do since you obviously don't have the money for convincing hair replacement. I hope I'm not sounding too insensitive because I really do hate seeing men who love their hair forced to deal with the problem of losing it.

Haha, loved this post. :woot:

Just recently I have changed my diet. I've always exercised. I usually walk 3 miles a day, do push ups and sit ups, and lift a bit. I'm pretty lean/skinny, but I do have a little bit of muscle haha! I just think I'll look sickly/cancer patient with a shaved head. Seen so many kids that can grow a full head of hair, and they shave it, and it looks awful.

But since it seems to be progressing, I probably need to amp up my work out.

We did have some very stressful family issues growing up, I think that's why my bro is completely bald. He stressed out way more than I did during that time. Plus, I probably don't get enough sleep... at all. I average 5-6 hours.

To be honest, it is men who lack sensitivity. Our ''time issues'' are a picnic by comparison.

MAN:I have less furry stuff on my scalp than I used to.

WOMAN: When I turn 40, my skeletal system starts to melt.

MAN: You win.

Yeah, I do count my blessings. I could have way, way worse problems than just losing my hair. It still bothers me, but I hope I can live with it... Not much of a choice, anyways. Haha.

I really think in our lifetime, there will be legit procedures to fix balding, or maybe could regrow hair.

My hair is interesting because my hairline is receding but my hair is thick enough to hide it. So my hair line is like Dane Dehaans or Aaron Paul. It's not awful but it's there. It does help too that i'm attractive, haha.

Started losing my hair in high school, & by 11th grade I already had a bald spot at the back of my head & kids were so cruel to me because of it to make mention of it every chance they got.:( Now almost 20 years later I am completely bald on top of my head except for a little fuzz, now I just shave my head with an electric clipper when it gets to long. My older brothers had full heads of hair well into to their 40s & my father who is 74 still pretty much has a full head of hair expect that it has started to thin naturally with his age. They say smoking causes pre-mature aging & we were all heavy smokers but it hasn't effected their hair when it did effect mine & sometimes I find myself asking why me lord & not them?:(

Remember that there are many awesome bald people out there, don't fear balding, if it comes own it.

I'm thinning on top. I'm only 25. I think baldness runs in the family. I'm just kind of accepting it. I figure one day it'll make for a fine Kingpin cosplay.

I'm 32 and basically it's so thin I have a Jason Statham hairstyle. The issue is that I don't have a Statham body. It's really depressing because my hair used to be so thick and fast growing. People called me Elvis in the Army because my hair would look gelled even In the field. I miss it . It's not the end of the world though. Growing facial hair can help. I do have a nice beard (neatly trimmed). Also I save a lot on haircuts

Lost mine when I was 25. Drawback of using hair gel too much. It was depressing at first for me, but I learned to accept it over the years and just shaved my head. Its refreshing not to take care of your hair.

I started loosing it from 21. Don't worry about it. If prince William can't grow his back, no one can

I started to go to the doctor when I was 20, thin hair and baldness runs in the family. There's something you can do to delay the process and I've been doing it ever since and it has helped.

I buy a minoxidal topical solution (Target brand), it's the same ingredient in Rogaine but cheaper ($20). I prefer to use the topical because it goes straight to your scalp rather than using that foam that is absorbed by your hair.

Additionally, I take finasteride but I believe you require a prescription. My mom has been getting it in Mexico and just mails it to me as I haven't seen my dermatologist in a very long time. Lastly, I take biotin supplement I buy at Target off the counter.

However, the falling of the hair goes in cycles so don't be surprised when you see it happen. Just don't think too much about or it'll stress you out and cause more hair to fall off.

You don't see Stath, Vin Diesel or Patrick Effing Stewart complaining, so neither will I when the time comes for me to shave my head.

As a wrestling fan, I thought this thread was about the medical issues with/entertainment value of blading. I guess I was wrong

Embrace it,

I started balding at 25 and finally buzz it down really close, it looks so much better than a darn bald spot you have to cover up or have to worry about if it's showing. Shave it down and take ownership of it instead of it of you. Nobody will really question it and you won't be bald enough where it even looks like you are bald. People can't tell unless I tilt my head down and point out the spot, but if I had hair you'd be able to spot it right away. As long as you aren't overweight and have a decent head shape I say buzz it down.

Your hair thinning is just a natural part of the aging process for men. Generally the process tends to start in your 20's & will progressively continue until you drop.

I'm only 27 but I've noticed that my hair isn't quite as thick as it once was, I'm still a long way off going bald, but I have noticed it.

If you are nervous about being bald, my advice would be, don't be. It's perfectly normal & by the time you actually do get to a point in which you are "forced" to shave your head, you'll have reached a point that all men reach in their lives in which you don't really care about it anymore.

It's weird men care about their appearance as much as women, but men often tend to do a lot less to prevent the aging process.

I'm noticing a little thinning in the back (I'm 25) but I have a buddy that started balding in his mid-teens and lost it all on top between 18-20, so don't feel too bad.

My dad has a great head of hair and my mom is balding (both 50) so I'm sure I'll lose it within the next few years or so. I'm fine with it as I look good with a shaved head anyways and can grow a great beard.

Take pride in your baldness! Bald is beautiful!
