We would all have killed and eaten each other by then, though.

I'll be the last one standing. I'll be sitting there, obese with the meat of fallen Hypesters, munching on your entrails, regwec (for you will be the second-last to fall, being the tough SOB that you are), when I watch the video online.

"Guuuuuh..... so Tom Hardy is playing Deacon Blackfire after all. Cool."

Then I keel over and die.

Yeah but...but...but someone has to survive and wait for 20 years on Bale/Nolan's adaptation of Returns. :oldrazz:

Tom Hardy is the son of the crazy mob guy in BB, I heard. :oldrazz:

what makes everyone think hardy will play a villain, or anyone from the comics? during tdk casting anthony michael hall was cast and everyone thought he'd be the riddler, or a character from the comics, and he ended up being 'mike engel' a tv personality they made up for the movie.

who's to say hardy won't be in a similar role(not as a tv personality, but as a character made up for the movie)?

That was mainly due to his $100 million dollar role comment.

AMH doesn't have the star power or talent that Hardy is building up and already has respectively.

No disrespect to Anthony Michael Hall, but Hardy isn't a tv actor.

Between one of the leads in THIS MEANS WAR (with Chris Pine and Reese Witherspoon) to upcoming MAD MAX: FURY ROAD (with Charlize Theron) Hardy's star is about to explode and he will soon be an A LISTER. You don't cast him as Mike Engel.

Besides, the MTV reporter asked Bale what he thought of Hardy playing his opponent, to which Bale said "sounds good."

Hardy is pretty much going to be one of the villains.

Since Hardy said he had a major role, I couldn't imagine him being anything other than a villain.

um...neither is amh. he was an 80s movie star before he was on the dead zone.
amh is a very talented actor. you shouldn't discredit him just because some people think he'll always be wyatt from weird science.

hardy is the "it guy" right now, just like sam worthington was last year. worthington isn't actually that amazing. hardy is more of a character actor not budding action star like worthington. hardy and amh are character actors, and are considered for talent rather than star power, which is good, but doesn't necessarily mean a huge iconic role.

ask any regular person on the street who tom hardy is and no one will know.

also actors usually don't know anything any way. and their jokes are constantly taken as fact and insider info here. so if an actor says he has a big role it doesn't necessarily mean he does.

It was confirmed pretty early he was playing a good guy and that he was playing a character named Engel. People still went on and on about him playing the Riddler several months afters that.

I'm not discrediting anyone. Weird Science is one of my favorite 80s films and I'm well aware of his career before Dead Zone.

That's the point though. Being the IT GUY as you put it has everything to do with getting the juicy roles. I didn't make the rules, but that is how it works. Hall's career isn't white-hot. Hardy's is.

George Miller and Chris Nolan might disagree with you.

Hardy is getting offers left and right. He had to turn down the lead role in UNIVERSAL'S SNOW WHITE & THE HUNTSMAN in order to prepare for RISES. You don't do that if your cast as Engel. Especially when SNOW WHITE is shooting 4-5 months prior to RISES.

ask any regular person on the street who tom hardy is and no one will know.

But they are about to. Hense the star on the rise.

:whatever:

Even after the movie was out there were some people who swore he was going to plot his revenge on Batman and Lucius and become the Riddler.

i just don't see how nolan and george miller don't agree with this statement "worthington isn't actually that amazing. hardy is more of a character actor not budding action star like worthington."

nolan loves character actors. :D aside from hugh jackman, he casts people that usually disappear into their roles.

I wasn't refering to Worthington. I was dissagreeing about Hardy not being a budding action star.

Nolan cast Hardy in an action role in Inception. George Miller cast him as MAD MAX. Just because he played second fiddle in prior films, doesn't mean he will continue to do so. He's not exactly Steve Buscemi in the looks department. He is a chameleon as a performer but he will end up playing the lead and bigger roles in more mainstream films now.

Character actor doesn't mean what you think it means. A character actor is one who predominantly plays a particular type of role rather than leading ones. Usually type-cast.

Worthington is a budding action star? What have action movies come to?

Don't you dare diss Steve Buscemi just because his eyes twitch and his mouth has a mind of it's own. Buscemi is boss.

Who doesn't love Buscemi? Point is, Hardy will be able to play a wider range of roles because of his looks. He can play the handsome guy, tough guy, rough guy, ugly guy.

Buscemi is pretty much relagated to being Buscemi. Still love him for it though. :woot:

Hardy isn't held back that way.

Poor bastard.

All that means is that the MTV reporter assumes Hardy is playing the villain, and that Bale knows absolutely nothing about the next film.

Poor bastard.

Well it was a spec script that was bought for 3 million. They are trying to fast track it as its a darker take on the story.

The other offer was out to Angelina Jolie and Charlize Theron as the evil queen who has a past with the character Hardy was in brief talks for.

It would have been a big payday for him.
