What if WB announced "Bane will be in the movie.....played by THE ROCK!"

Noooooooooooo!!!

Would you Bane fans be against a slicker mask that displays his mouth/chin, hair etc etc?

There are quite a few options, I think. Obviously there's an option for a faithful hood like Bane has always worn, or a helmet like Batman wear in the movies. That could have a batman-style mouth opening, though I think covering Bane's whole face makes him more intimidating.

Another option is for Bane to wear a tactical armoured face mask. If anyone's played Army of Two, they'll know what I mean--or if you watched the last season of 24, Jack wore some like this in one of the last episodes.

Paint that in Bane's colours and you've got a pretty faithful representation without going into weird bondage-looking territory.

Another way to do would be a simple ski-mask style hood--not so generic, though, obviously customized--in Bane's colours.

Well.....Actually I've been wanting the Rock in a superhero film for a long time!,Hero or villian,But that's just me!

Theory: Bane will be a hired assassin brought in by the desperate Gotham mob to eliminate the Bat. They want brute strength. Someone who can physically take him on.
If there's going to be an assassin hired by the mob it should be deadshot.:oldrazz:

This is BS! What happened to that Hugo Strange scenario? I, for one, am not interested in seeing Batman/Bane fist fights. Bane is to Batman's rogues gallery what Venom is to Spidey's rogues gallery imo. And please, no back breaking references! PLEASE!

Yeah, yeah, Nolan is going to re-interpret the character BUT C'MON PEOPLE! This would've been a golden opportunity to intruduce Deadshot or Hugo Strange!

Imo, f**k Deadshot up his stupid a**. I never got the appeal. I wanted Strange prior to this, but some postrs here have been quite educating in the more cerebral aspects of Bane. He can work.

I've seen GK, and I enjoyed Deashot in that small amount of time. I don't want him for the cinematic climax of the trilogy at all. And I'm glad we didn't get him.

It's Chris Nolan and Tom Hardy. Of course they'll make it work. I just can't stand Bane. Physical challenge isn't nearly as interesting as psychological challenge. And we can talk about Bane's cerebral aspects all day long. It won't change the fact that in the end it always comes down to a fist fight between Batman and Bane. Bane showcasing his drug-enhanced strength of course. I just find that utterly uncompelling.

But... Bane is a psychological challenge. The fact that he can actually overpower Batman in a fight doesn't change that.

A villain who is just as intelligent as he is strong is far more compelling than a typical brains over brawn scenario.

Incidentally, being physically dominated can have important psychological ramifications.

As Knightfall has showcased, I believe.

Right. This came through more in O'Neil's novelization than it did in the comics, but Knightsaga wasn't so much about Batman being crippled as it was about Bruce Wayne's own struggle with the violence of his life.

We need to see Batman beaten hard by a physical opponent at least once in this trilogy. That's not debatable in my mind.

And don't forget there is Catwoman in this film, so i wouldn't worry about the lack of psychological challenge.

Agreed. I want to see Batman thrown around. I haven't found any of the previous fights really that life-threatening. Yeah, he had some trouble with Ra's and even Joker, but it never got that serious.

I think that's a fair point. The stakes in BB and TDK were completely different. In TDKR there is a chance for a directly physical threat by Bane, with an intellectual threat (again, by Bane) and a moral threat by CW.

I'm obviously in a minority here. I just dislike the Batman vs Bane concept for mainly the same reasons I dislike for example Punisher vs Barracuda or Superman vs Doomsday. I guess I just don't enjoy watching the hero getting his ass kicked by some muscle-bound ogre. I need more than that. I hope Nolan will give us more than that. I need a real connection between the hero and his antagonist. And the connection has to be something else than just "I'm going to beat you to pulp just because I can".

What you don't seem to understand, although some of has have told you (and many more have stated in other threads), is that Bane CAN provide more than that.

I don't count Bane in Batman & Robin, h didn't speak that much. He wasn't done. To me Bane is new since we haven't seen anything.

Yeah Bane is more than just a muscle bound goon. Doomsday he is not, in the good iterations anyway.

I'd finally like to see some top notch martial arts moves in my batman movies and i dont know if Bane is the best candidate for that. If he is too big Batman will have to resort to dodging and then using moves like flying kicks and stuff to put down such a monster. See how Ironman vs Monger went, as opposed to Ironman vs Rhodey where they were able to fight using martial arts moves.

I hope you get what i mean.

With some of the rumours I heard prior to this news I wasn't at all hyped for TDKR (Still would have preferred "Batman Rises" as the title and not The Dark Knight) but this news has me once again hyped for the final part of the trilogy. Cannot wait to see Hathaway and Hardy bringing these characters to the screen.
