The Dark Knight Rises Bane

Ok fellas.

So Nolan himself said this will be a new interpretation of Bane.

So of course this will not be the Bane from *****makers BandR crapfest.

I also think this Bane will not be the steroid or Venom enduced freak from the comics.

This will be a more grounded Bane and I think he might be a hybrid between his and Deadshots characterizations.

He also of course may have been trained by the League Of Shadows in this interpretation. Regardless, it will be interesting and fun to see onscreen! :word:

I have a feeling theyre gonna go the "Legacy" storyline route, it would tie the films together as well introduce Bane as Batmans most dangerous threat yet.

That would definitely be interesting. Bane and the League of Shadows? I'd buy that for a dollar.

I can see him similar being very to Bruce. League of Shadows trained, knows all the fighting techniques (and more) and is just a mountain of a man. The venom would be awesome and is realistic enough to be included but I kinda doubt it will be in it.

No League of Shadows connection needed. Keep his origin the same. He grew up in a South American Prison, learned how to fight and kill from the most dangerous criminals on the continent.

As long as he doesn't break Batman's back and take Bale out of his last film for 1/2 of it I'll be cool with whatever Nolan decides to do. Venom or not.

Christian Bale is noticeably much shorter than Aaron Eckhardt or Gary Oldman. Nolan didn't even try to hide that. I hope he didn't try, anyway. But no one seems to care about that.
I wish he would though because Bruce/Batman should be bigger to those around him. Bale looks great but i wish they employed some movie magic for his height.
I want there to be a full-scale Rocky moment, in which a battered and seemingly humiliated Batman leaps up and lands a succession of decisive hay-makers on Bane's dismayed head.
YES, YES, YES, YES!!!

Something like that IM2 Mark V battle. Whippy wipes the floor with him and when he's down he looks up and you can see he's all "now i'm gonna F you up!"
Or when Prime says "I'll take you all on!"

Pure nerdgasm.
He will take a lot of steroids. He will make something up about eating a lot of koftas and drinking banana milkshakes, but it will be the drugs that will deserve the Oscar.
The phrase "brokeback Batman" doesn't mean what it meant back in 2007 anymore.

:funny:

Breaking Batman's back is not the only thing Bane has ever done, nor is it the thing he will do in The Dark Knight Rises. Did the Joker kill Jason Todd in The Dark Knight?

That's a poor analogy as Todd wasn't in TDK. I'm just saying that's probably the thing Bane is best known for to non-avid fans of the comics.

To be frank Joker has been around for a little while longer and is known for much more than Bane is, but we get your point.

You can keep his origin the same while still connecting him to the League, though. The League might be a good way to explain why he targets Batman and comes to Gotham, actually (though I'm sure there are other, League-free ways).

They could really mess with the fans if they had a moment where it looked like it was going to happen like they did in BTAS. I remember watching that horrified as a kid, but it was very suspenseful until Batman broke free.

Couple of things I'm dying to know.

1. Will Hardy play it as a cockney? (I hope not)
2. Will he be a loner or working in league with others?

A Chris Nolan-style prison break would be an awfully cool way to open the movie. It'll be kind of like Deja vu to see the beginning of the movie open to a character in a jail in som foreign country.

That would be awesome.

Since he got casted I was hoping he'd be Bane. Now he is, and that's fraggin' awesome. :D

Look at it this way. You need to put on a lot of clean bulk in time for a deadline. You might be able to do it naturally, but why risk it when steroids are available?

Neither Bale nor Hardy clean bulked. Bale was chubby before he lost weight for Begins, leading to a brief stint of "OH NO A FAT BATMAN" on these boards. Hardy trained in a way a prisoner would and stuffed his face to look like Charlie Bronson. Hardy's a recovered crack addict/alcoholic, it's likely he'd stay away from Roids. He's already a relatively big dude, there's plenty of time to get bigger before filming starts.

Same! I was watching that when I was little after reading Knightfall and I was like, Oh my God, no way they put this in a kids show.

Haha, I was thinking the exact same thing. It was an intense moment. I was actually disappointed when it didn't happen.

Yea me too, with the new popularity Bane will surely have I wouldnt be surprised if we get one of those Pg-13 Animated movies about Knightfall.

Interesting idea; good way to set up the mirror between Bane and Batman.

Knightfall (also, No Man's Land) was the first thing I thought of when they announced the line a few years ago; I can't believe it hasn't been done already.

We will NOT see Bane break the back of the Batman in TDKR. The best part of that storyline is what happens AFTER Bruce is paralyzed and how he makes his comeback, which is too complicated and unrealistic to fit into one film. If there's one thing for sure, it's that Bane will be nothing like the ****** we saw on screen back in '97. Instead, he'll be intelligent, calculated, ruthless, and insane...and ****ing jacked as hell.

I'm still convinced that we haven't heard the end of the big casting news for The Dark Knight Rises, and I'm kinda holding out hope for Hugo Strange. IMO, he is the best villain to use in this film because he'll **** with Batman's mind even more than the Joker did, using Catwoman and Bane as tools along the way. This film will be all about how Batman must redeem himself in the eyes of Gotham, but like we saw in TDK, things will definitely get worse before they get better.

Tom Hardy will do fine, but if they wanted a big guy to play Bane, Nathan Jones would've been perfect!

Im sure it will happen, watching
Joker beat Jason todd to death in Under the Red Hood
makes me think of all the potential with other arcs now.

I agree. I wouldn't be surprised if we never know how Bane comes along. They never establish how the Joker came about, or his "origins" so to speak. Nolan is a mysterious man when it comes to his movies. Can you imagine if he had established an orgin for Joker? The people wanting this way over that would have been angry to a point. I think Nolan keeps the Batman fans in mind when he does the movies. I want to see something "new". Knowing Nolan he will not dissapoint, whatever it is
