Sounds nice, but then the employers would have to raise the price of their goods and services to cover the pay increases, thus driving away customers.

Customers already have to pay extra if they're going to leave a tip. I don't see it as a big deal.

One thing I hate, when they include the tip on the bill. That is a huge turnoff and will avoid restaurants that do that.

I think it is fair for a large party. The server can't always be expected to deliver exactly what the customer wants in the time that they want while they are juggling 20 other customers in the same party. It is unfair to leave tipping to the customer's discretion in those situations.

I agree with that. I'm talking about the restaurants who include it on every bill. Most of the time, it screws over a great waiter because people will tend to just tip them the included amount.

I hate the concept of tipping based on what you order (party size excluded). Why should I tip more for ordering a steak versus a sandwich?

I have my own tipping method. Generally I type $5 and usually when my wife and I go out we spend around $20-$30

I've known someone who has written "Not a chance in hell" in the Tip line before. I've known people who have refused to tip because they do more important work and don't get tips for their service. Hell, while I was once a (terrible) waiter and usually tip well, I've withheld tips for poor service once or twice. This isn't news.

I don't think people were angry about the tip. It was the "get a real job" comment that had people riled up.

This whole idea that some people have that their job makes them a better person, somehow, than other people is something that really irks me.

If there's a banker who looks down on the job of waiter THAT much, then why are they even there? Why don't they bring their co-workers somewhere that he could do it all himself?

I don't get it.
