The big deal is that nobody gives a flying f*.
Spidey had 6 arms at one point. Would you have wanted him to be that way in the very first Spider-man movie???

We're talking iconography. Not plot points.

Somehow they managed to take the iconic optimus and give him moving lips and transform into a gorilla... AND make it something great.

Please, at this point it's superficial quibbling. The people behind transformers have reinvented Optimus so many times now that it's the norm. This is another iteration of the franchise, and another iteration of the character. Like all others he'll have a look unique to this particular part of the franchise. Despite untold numbers of reinterpretations of the character, Optimus is still wildly popular and revered. And the reason he is revered is not because he's the iconic Optimus in alt mode, driving down the road and being something that fits in. He's Optimus when he sheds the disguise, steps up as a leader, and fights with honor, dignity, respect and compassion.

Again, so has Spider-man. But nobody cares. I don't see him having 6 arms in the first Spidey movie. I can assure you lots of us folks couldn't care less about Optimus "Primal"... who AFAIK (and I'm no expert, I assure you) isn't even really Optimus Prime in the continuity.

Obviously he's not optimus prime in continuity. he's the same character though. he plays the same role, shares the same name... etc.

yes spider-man has been changed. and he always goes back to the same old classic spidey. however, optimus doesn't get the same look time and again. no, his look changes and changes and changes but does not go back to the old COE.

either way look I know you disagree with every single thing I have to say. I could right now say i think bumblebee should be a bug and optimus an exact replica of his G1 self, and you'd find some weak spot to shoot at.

i'm sorry i'm not willing to be happy with the same thing I got 20 years ago. sue me.

I can live with Soundwave being a boombox and human size(as is rumored) in robot form. It only makes sense that the Decepticon spy be small enough to move around undetected. So long as he looks close to classic Soundwave, i'll be happy. My only concern is how they translate his cassettes (Ravage, Rumble, etc) to the big screen now that Soundwave is small..

I do have a problem with Megatron being a Jet. We already have a Jet with Starscream, and unless this cybertronian Jet that he's soppose to be is super badass and looks conpletely different from an earth jet, i can't see it working. If anything, he should be some sort of Cybertronian weapon like Galvatron. I just hope they keep him White/Grey in color with his G1 head.
