I have always thought of BatMan as a Gothic superhero. Now, I don't mean gothic in a bad sense, like some kid all dressed in black, wearing black lip stick, going woe is me 'cause Mommy and Daddy don't pay attention to me and nobody gets me, and they are usually from well off families and have everything yet they still think they have it so bad, that type of crap.

I mean gothic, dark, sinister almost, like a dracula type of thing etc., I've always liked that feeling I get from it.

Wayne Manor and Gotham look best when given that gothic look. I loved how Jim Aparo drew Gotham, the buildings looked twisted in a way at times, his art looked like burton's gotham. I love Tim's version of Batman, he really captured the spirit of Batman.

He's not just some guy in an armored suit beating up bad guys, there's more to him than that, and to me Nolan's film doesn't quite get that, it's too dull.

BATMAN is a phantom, he does have super powers, some say no but I have always thought of his use of fear as his power, The way he can disappear, and reappear out of nowhere, and strike fear into the hearts of evil doers.

And then there are his fighting skills and intellect, he has a great mind, and the world's best Detective, I've always loved those aspects about him, the mixture of his genious, physical attributes, and the mysterious almost ghost like qualities of his are just awesome.

He truly is the best fictional character ever created, in my opinion. All thanks to Bob Kane and Bill Finger, and sure alot of people give all that credit to Bill for making the adjustments to make Batman who he is, but if it wasn't for Bob's inspiration we wouldn't have the Dark Knight.

When I was a kid I would just veg out in front of the tv watching the 60's tv show, I remember freaking out once 'cause Robin was on a conveyer belt and heading right for a huge round saw, and I was so worried he was going to be killed by the Riddler, man I loved that show.:woot:

Then there was the SuperFriends, and SuperPowers cartoon, I always had to get one of the action figures whenI went to the store with my Mom.

I am now 28 and still collect the action figures and read the books and watch all the movies and comics, and always will.

When I was 10 I went every weekend to see BATMAN the motion picture, no exageration, every weekend. If I could I would have gone every day.

It was a big deal for me 'cause we didn't have a car and not much money, but my step Grandfather would take me on the weekends, and I'd make my ticket money by cleaning my Grandmothers house. God Bless Her for helping.:yay:

I got my first Batman movie action figure by ordering it from a catalog I got at the movie theater, more like a pamphlet it would just fold out, and a bunch of stuff on it, but all I really remember was the toys.

Man, I had the whole movie collection, BATMAN, THE JOKER, BOB THE GOON, THE BATMOBILE, THE BATWING, and, THE BATCAVE.

I Wish I still had it.

Then, when I was 12 Batman Returns came out, and I started collecting the comics that summer. The first comic I got was a story featuring the Harpy and Zeus. It was part 2 of a 2 part story, a few years later I got the 1st part ina comic shop, I use to get my books from a local grocery store in my home town called Hart's. The next year I found a comic shop near my home. Been going there evr since.

There are other Super Heroes I am close to such as SuperMan and Spider-Man, but there's just something about BATMAN.

Pretty much agree, except for one part:

Those technically are not "Goths." Those are "Emos." There is a dramatic difference.

I see no difference, and everyone I've ever known called them Goth kids.

Back in the day they were called "goths" or just "punks", "emos" is a newer term.lol:o

I actually enjoyed reading your story, alot of parallels with myself. Its funny how you mentioned going to the theatre every weekend to see Batman. I was close. I saw it 18 times in the theatre. After it moved to the cheap theatre ($2 admission) my friend and I went almost every Sunday. Heck, it was still being shown even when the VHS was released.

Would he have that appeal, if instead of just the regular batsuit, he started off wearing the "Batman Beyond" batsuit? would it have enhanced him or made it worse?
